Can you verify whether or not the trigger is actually metal? The reason I ask is it looks shinier than the chrome on the brush. If it’s electroplated plastic then that would be an issue with enamels and lacquer in the long run. There should be a screw on one of the sides and you’ll easily be able to tell if it’s plastic or metal by removing it and feeling if it’s cold or if it’s super light.

Good review. Thanks. I think the smooth threads really sold it to me vs the other brands. I never see modern reviews mention that, for some reason only reviewers from 5 to 8 years ago really focused on details like that. I think I’ll get the Mac valve one because those help with my cheap hobby compressor and it’s only one more dollar.

Great video. Looks great. Just a quick question. Being new to this airbrush painting i was talking to my local hobby store owner getting paint recommendations and he informed me about the extreme danger of using spray paints, both rattle and airbrush in my basement due to having a gas furnace. Is this real? Never once heard this fact mentioned in any painting video Your thoughts?
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies 5 күн бұрын
That is a great question. Let me make a big disclaimer here. I am in no way an expert on safety when it come to that question. I definitely would not rattle can paint anything in my basement. I don't know what kind of propellants they use. I can only speak for what I use. I use all water based acrylic craft paints or water based acrylic airbrush paints through my airbrush. I don't use anything that I am aware of that would cause an issue. Again I am not qualified to give you professional advice in this subject. I do airbrush in my basement, but I have a window with an exhaust fan running when I am painting. I would definitely "NOT" paint with any form of enamels or anything of that nature. Again, just to cover my behind. I am not a professional on the makeup and / or volatility of paints. Paint at your own risk. Now that I have completely scared you, thank you for watching and the great question.

Hello. Thanks for watching and commenting. For excellent airbrush paint, I use Createx brand. Specifically their wicked line. They have a great website as well as youtue videos discussing all their lines of paints, what application to use them and how to mix them. I am currently editing a video where i have painted a 1/64 scale slot car with their candyh20 paint, but I did use their regular wicked line of paints and a small paint brush for the detail work such as the taillights, marker lights, and mirrors. You can airbrush Vallejo paints as well. I just prefer Createx brand. But if you are painting military models you may have to mix custom colors if you go the Crearex route. I know Vallejo and other model specific paint companies offer color sets for military models. Thanks for the great question. Take care and happy modeling.

Hey John. Thin layers of paint tend to dry very quickly. And here's a trick for you. I use the airbrush to help dry the paint faster. I just press down on the trigger and use just air from the airbrush and go over my project to help tack dry the paint so I can keep going. Just Make sure you don't have any paint spitting out of your airbrush if you try it.

Do you ever have problems with paint accumulating in the nozzle? Seems runniing/spraying cleaning fluid is enough to clean the needle but I notice if you remove the nozzle, there's often some paint there as well.
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies

There is always a little bit of paint in nozzle it will definitely come out when you run cleaner through your airbrush simply because it thins it so much. But I never have a problem. 28:48 That whole process seemed terribly wasteful. All that paint left behind in the bottle, then in the strainer, then in the little plastic cup. There's gots to be a better way! Cool little metal strainer though. Where'd you get that? Loved the video.
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies
@RoadsAndRailsHobbies 20 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching and commenting. Here is a link to the strainer I use. amzn.to/3B6FEQU I know it seems like a waste of paint, but if I'm using the super cheap craft paints then it's not that big of a deal. The airbrush specific paints like from Createx are so well made that most of the paint actually goes through the strainer so there is not as much waste. Me personally would rather waste a little paint then take a chance of either clogging up my airbrush because of some chunk of dries paint got into it and then you may very well end up wasting a lot more paint by taking care of that problem, or messing up a project because of some spitting and sputtering as your airbrush tries to clear a clog. Again this just how I feel about. Thanks again for watching and bringing up a great question / comment. Take care.

First. This is not a diss. I appreciate and thank you for your video. I had to revisit this video, cause my sample pieces are turning out similar to this and it should not. In Chris Arpin's video from Createx. The Flakes had more sharper pop and the black was deep and glossy with no red peaking through. However. Die Cast Resurrection's version of it was even better than Chris's version. DCR's version raised the bar. I'm trying to get to that level. Although, I'm following both their exact steps and using the exact products. Mine keeps coming out similar to yours. Aside from the grey primer you're using, needle size, mixing different reducers, clear coats and you not using a 2k gloss. I'm not sure exactly where we're going wrong and looking similar. When I figure out the problem. I'll let you know.

4 separate containers. At some point there will be concern about materials wastage. Iwata needs to make the bowl so we can filter and mix into it. Of course, there goes their planned obsolescence, but they can make up for it with aftermarket parts. Let's assume I grind some A grade azurite and filter it below 200 microns. Using it as pigment (acrylic, oils, or lacquers) should go through the brush OK, but how do I recover almost 40% that's residue in those containers? >>>BTW, sooner or later someone needs to design an electrostatic airbrush. It could replace a lot of the soldering that's done. >>>Also BTW, I just bought an Iwata siphon feed. Mistake. Go with the gravity feed.
