You gave me the reassurance I needed to do this myself. If only I had 2 jacks so I could do the dang rotation myself too while I'm at it -_- Fantastic video with straightforward information. 100/10. Thank you, Joel!

Excellent tutorial on how someone can DIY the issue. One small thing is missing. The discussion about the venting of hydrogen doesn't mention pluging the second vent hole. On the positive terminal cap that you pull off and discard at some point, there is a plasic plug that you can pull off. It's supposed to be inserted into the second vent hole that is on the right side of the battery. You can see the plug that I am referring to at 5:30 into the video.

Hey so i know this vid is old, but i think the other night i def over threaded the first cylinders bolt by accident. i swear it ran way smoother immideately but then started misfiring shortly after with flashing CEL briefly on or a solid light. It switches up a lot. Took it to a shop today, they ran the codes and yea said misfire in cylinder one and told me to replace the coil. But when installing the new one, thats when i noticed for sure that the little brass thread in there would pop out when trying to unscrew that first bolt. The coil doesnt sit correctly im guessing.... very frustrating especially as a novice

What if you do not see a vent tube on the old battery ?
@joeldufkis2 ай бұрын
You'll need to look and see if there is a vent tube down in the cavity. If it's missing it's best that one is reinstalled, batteries that are installed in the passenger compartment need to be vented.

@@joeldufkis Thanks so much, This buick has been in my fathers garage with a dead battery for about 5 months. does the battery work as soon as you install or does it have to be jumped?
@joeldufkis2 ай бұрын
If the battery is properly charged and is new with 12.6v then everything should fire right up.

They are on the ground, in order to lift this with my lift I need to drive it on wood blocks, the car is resting on the wood blocks in the video.

Yes there are a few different sizes. I believe this one is 5/8" which is the most common.

Can you put the car in neutral instead of tow mode to unlock the rear caliper?
@joeldufkis3 ай бұрын
No because it doesn't detect an occupant it will put the vehicle into park activating the brakes. There's now an option in service mode (which wasn't available when I made this video) under the chassis menu to put the parking brakes in service mode. I'll have to make an update video here sometime soon.
