This video was exactly what I needed. 2010 Expedition, did the full inside and out LED retrofit, literal night and day difference...but who could have thought the damn dome light would be so important. I spent Sunday installing my new factory remote start kit in the snow of a cold Missouri winter, followed the factory directions perfectly, hit the fob button with great expectation, only to be met with the error code for an open door. As I went inside and soaked my numb feet in a warm bathtub, I started googling and came across this video. I figured hey, it's an input wire only, and worst case scenario it already doesn't work, the only way is up. Went out this morning, crawled under the dash, clipped that green/violet wire as identified from my diagram for the door ajar input, hit the button and it started without issue. I tested to make sure it does still shut off when a key is inserted or the brake pedal is pushed, which I can always change later, but for now it does it's core job, remote starting. I'll be sure to point other owners who might have the same problem this way.

This video helped on my 2011 ford expedition. Installed interior leds, remote start would initiate, then three horn honks and nothing. Easily found the green wire with purple stripe cut it and now remote start works fine. Thank you!!

Man you are a lifesaver, I just did it to mines and it worked just you showed us in the video. I spent $200 in LED lights and didn’t know why the remote start stop working. Do Bass fish. If so I want to send you some gear.

Follow-up to my first comment.....the correct led bulbs to use may also be called "Chipset" ...."error free" ...as well as "canbus". The most important thing to remember is that the correct bulb will have the circuitry designed and built into the bulb that will satisfy the monitoring circuit of the vehicle computer and/or remote start unit. To "my" knowledge this situation occurs with Ford vehicles, not sure if other makes of vehicles have same problem....but, it wouldn't surprise me.

Thank you for the video! I had no idea the LED interior lights caused the remote start to no longer work. I came across a video by FordTechMakuloco about a similar issue. If you program the remote start to keep running when the vehicle is entered that will solve the problem too. I just followed his steps to program and now remote start works and doesn't shut off when I open the door.

I had the same problem occur on my 2009 Ford Taurus. After research and to keep this as short as possible,...I found the fix. You need to use "Canbus" led bulbs. These led bulbs have built in circuitry that satisfies the current requirement that Ford Engineers designed into their computer and remote start processors. These bulbs also prevents "HyperFlash" on turn signal circuits. Of coarse....each application uses different kinds of bulbs. Look at your vehicle owners manual and see which bulb is needed for each application...dome light....vanity light.....etc. For the applications that interact with the onboard computer and/or remote start unit (turn signals, dome lights maybe others also)ensure the led's you purchase are "canbus" led's. So, for example...if your owners manual calls for a 194 incandescent bulb for your dome light and you have a Ford vehicle with remote start....ensure you get a 194 style LED bulb that is "canbus" which means it has the built-in circuitry needed so that your remote start will still function and now you can enjoy the white brilliance of LED as well. Hope this helps ! Also, to the gentleman above...who went to all the trouble to make that video and help educate us on this problem....THANK YOU !!! because of your help it put me on a more informed path that lead me to discovering the information I just shared.

I know this video was 4 years ago but ur remote start system it's kinda the same as mines, I'm curious on how is the wired connect from the engine as to there's a wire loose just not sure where it goes , so that once I remote start it cranks which it doesn't because of the loose wire any idea on that thank u

The driver's side map light needs to be a CANBUS compatible LED. No need to chop wires. Or keep that one bulb with the original incandescent.

Does your interior lights still come on with the doors open after cutting the wire? Mine do not.

I have problem with a Mercury Sable 2009 remote start

So I tried this and at first it worked... I put everything back together and now it shows up with the theft system indicating light on dash and thinks about starting but doesn’t and beeps once. The green and purple stripped wire is cut And taped off and not touching. I am now stumped again. Any suggestions???
