The Stupid …. IT BURNS!

Scott was responsible for the masterpiece 'Alien' and a couple of decades down the track we get this abomination. The old 'AI taking over' trope is too predictable. He could have gone in a completely left-field direction but everything about this film is compromised. Prometheus is far superior to this film even though it is also very flawed. I was so disgusted with this film that I lost the suspension of disbelief part-way through.

"Theres only 3 or 4 people left to man the covenant" ......there was just David and the on-board AI for years, so, it's not a terrible thing

One repeating problem with these movies: they do have extremely advanced humanlike androids that can fully pass for humans. But they do NOT have any kind of cheap drones/probes that could be sent first to study things on a planet they are considering landing on. You know, something like we are here and now sending to Mars? Even the earliest Viking probes had the ability to test for quite a lot of things. And simply getting some video first might be useful... The first two movies, Alien and Aliens, can get a pass because the first one has truckers who presumably were never supposed to have anything to do with anything but what had already been thoroughly studied, and in the second the marines are landing on a place that they presume is already pretty thoroughly studied and the rest is entertaining enough, plus some of the stupid is actually given explanations to, that you can ignore the few smaller slips.

Here's a rule that I wish studios would start following - if you're writing a movie that doesn't star Jack Black, and when reaching the end of your script you realize that none of the story would have happened had any character been smarter than a piece of licorice, burn your script and write a better one.

If I may problem nr. 9 is already silly as the engineers were flying war ships to eradicate humanity not a single ship returns and you here nothing of it for eons until one day it flies back into orbite As landing aircraft can be difficult there would be some form of tower as it was a military vehicle it probably would've need some code for recognition as you can never be sure who comes back sooooo yeah it would've been blown out of the sky before it even reached orbite

It was a very boring movie and made no sense at all. Loved how quarantine was never used through the whole movie. Astronauts coming back from the moon go through quarantine. They tried to make feel bad for the loved ones who got infected and that why they didn't use quarantine but it made no sense

#10 Problem is actually your lacking of interpretation, the film actually did well with David helping the crew members in the climax fighting sequence. His purpose was the colonists as his vessels and the integrity of the Covenant ship. Despite loving his creation, as you can see by his reactions when it is eventually killed in the terraforming hangar, it was a no brainer to let the crew get rid of it and make sure everything was safe with the ship and the colonists while gaining the trust of the surviving crew as the manipulative psychopath he is. He couldn't tame the xenomorph anyway, why would he let it live and risk destroy everything? He made them do his job for him and saved more vessels along the way (their bodies), win-win situation. Now he has a spaceship all to himself with thousands of bodies to do everything he wants, he can make thousands of xenos once he gets to the new planet.

Covenant is more fun than Prometheus - just the ending was trash rehash, other than that I love. This trilogy is like the matrix - you need all the pieces THEN it's better AND re-watchable. The only HUGE problem with prometheus is cutting the scene with the guy who pets the snake. That was a DUMB cut lol Also, I find you have to be in the mood for it - it's one of those. I almost walked out when the stupid women blew up the ship, The i stayed and my head almost exploded.

1) i don't see the problem #1. The guy had a weak leadership, It's explicity stated, as it is the fact that people are shocked about cap death and don't want to come back to sleep. Plus, they are curious and the planet sounds and is in fact better than origae-6, that they selected Just because almost 10 years before they couldn't find anything better. 2) they weren't there just to investigate the radio signal but to see if the world was really that good to live. How many member do you need to do scientific evaluations AND investigate a radio signal AND protect the ship? 3) that is the real problem, but still in every Alien Canon movie people were infected with or without the helmet, from Alien to Prometheus. They could have kept the helmet and still the movie would have been the same with just a small change. 4) It's not that big, you can't see It from space. 5) in prometheus the biologist was intentionally stupid, in the script you find out he was signed by the daughter of weiland, that wanted the mission to fail. Plus he was smoking marijuana. In Alien covenant you know monsters comes out from people, but people inside the movie don't. He was having convulsions and the woman was not a medicina but Just a scared woman who thought she was already doomed cause she was infected 6) too much of assumption, we don't know what they uses to travel at those superluminal speeds, and neither how the ship was structured. She shoot everywhere randomly and took the oil and boom, you see that happens in half of the action movies and games. 7) he is stupid, It's already established. He thought he had an advantage cause he had a gun, he never saw a robot behaving like David (i.e cause intentional damage to people) and in fact david himself saved them and i don't know what eggs are you custom to, but everywhere in the world things that come out from eggs are weak and still not fully formed. Again, you can't separate what you know from what they know. 8) and instead they waited to be in a safe position before asking and got an explanation. You think that after being saved from monsters your firsy thoughts Will be 'hey friendly stranger that saved me, why are all this corpses around?" 9) they are not engeneers, It's already confirmed 10) It was intentionally, David expression were very explicit. He was trying to test his creature, not just to kill them. Mother knew the difference, David had a personal code 11) aliens is not canon, like everything alien related except prometheus, Alien covenant and alien (Watch the eggmorphing scene). PROMETHEUS was a very good movie - - it is an attempt at intelligent science fiction in a genre that has virtually none at all. Do you want everything made by Lucas or Bay? for the science fiction horror genre(s) have very low standards to begin with.

Fun fact: studio know how are fans unforgiving about alien (alien 3) example and they even so give green to that script. If is my money I will never do that. Also think about this try to write as much bad script as possible and you will never get close to this. I don't got it how they did it. Bravo!

Well I'm late to the party, but here's Problem Zero, which ruined the film for me in the first few minutes: Why are the cryo-sleep tubes full of enough flammable material to incinerate the occupant? That being the case, why are there no mechanisms to combat said fire? Why is there no way for someone outside the tube to open it easily, in case of said fire? It's almost as if the script writers were completely clueless about health and safety measures or good engineering design
