Do you guys have a Halibut spear? They're pretty handy.
@MVSKOOKUM1Күн бұрын
Hi. No we don’t have a spear Sometimes we wish we did. But we get a lot of halibut that we have to try to measure as we can only keep one up to 126cm . The ones below 126cm seem to come in okay. It’s those big ones that are hard !
@timcooke1508Күн бұрын
@@MVSKOOKUM1 That was a really big one for sure. Too bad you can't keep any size. We really enjoy your posts! Thanks and smooth waters and may your anchor never drag. Tim and Jill on M/V Dream Weaver.

Horseflies! My only experience with them was in the early 50’s when I spent part of the summer in Ocean Falls. Mosquitos on the other hand…….i heard a Yukon mossie landed at YXY and the ground crew had it half refuelled before they realized what they were doing.,

Hi guys...boy i can't believe how quick the vacation seem to go and too bad vacations have to end.Dereks fish and chips always look soooo good... its 1 am here... now i have to try and find a midnight snack...Derek by any chance can i get your batter recipe for the fish and the garlic prawns? One of these days i would like to grab my fishing rods and make a road trip from edmonton just to taste Dereks fish and chips garlic prawns...lol well my mid night snack is ready. ...torpedo shrimp it is..hehehe another great video guys i always enjoy them... take care
@MVSKOOKUM17 күн бұрын
Hahah! Midnight snacks! Yumm. We actually cheat a bit and buy the convenient pre made pack of the batter. We just mix it with beer or water: Club House English Style Fish and Chips batter mix. We like it so much. I’d like to make a sourdough one soon from scratch! For his prawns he uses a mix of soya sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lots of garlic and butter or bacon fat, some Tabasco! We slurp it up. Yummmmm. Thanks for watching us !

Another great video Skookum crew! One of my favourites for sure. Love the great videography, delicious looking meals and exciting fishing clips! I have to say the southern BC video was very nice but when you got back to northern BC with its quiet serenity and distinct lack of people and other boats, I enjoyed it a little more. Even prefer the weather.😄Cheers for now👋

Wow, what an adventure. Some fantastic fishing to finish off with. It's great to see you guys wearing life preserver when in your dinghy. No matter how gooder a swimmer ("floater") you are, if you fall in those cold waters there is a high probability your muscles will cramp up and you'll float like a rock. Another KZbin who wears life preserver in those waters is Tony Fleming's gang aka Fleming Yachts.

Yes we always try to wear them! Or at least have them on the dinghy. Just in case! You never know. The waters are so cold!🥶

@@MVSKOOKUM1@MVSKOOKUM1 I'm Not sure what iPhone you have, but I upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro. It has very good video capabilities. I would also suggest the Panasonic CX 2000 this is an amazing camcorder. Basically, it will perform really well in auto mode has a 24-600 mm zoom, and is very small. The downside is that it is not water resistant, so filming in wet weather unless you have a rain cover is not a good idea. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to provide what advice I can. Been doing this video thing for the past 25 years.
