Bravo. Did your friend wind the cable through the ferrite core in the same direction or 5he opposite direction as your construction? Does the direction of winding make a difference?

for the bluetooth mic to trigger vox it would have to keep the bluetooth audio channel open which would kill both devices batteries. you would need a bluetooth push to talk button which are available fairly inexpensively. the earpiece that it came with probably has a ptt on it.

@RadioPrepper Will these devices be rendered useless if not stored in a faraday bag or faraday cage during an EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) or CME (Coronal Mass Ejection)? I want to get a group of my family and friends along with myself to purchase some sort of mesh device for emergency comms in the near future if affordable. I also want to make sure that someone in their 70s is is not very tech savvy can use if phones and other mainstream communication means go down.

Thank you for the video! I have built this project but with the only difference being I used a 100w resistor. As far as the "rf probe" function goes, I am getting a reading with a multimeter set to DC but it seems to be about 27% off (to high) with the calculation you hold up on the paper. Am I missing something?
@KE0ZMK9 күн бұрын
Revision, I now see it depends on the frequency. I was using two vhf radios in my prior tests that I mentioned and now I tried UHF and its 800% higher. I'm thinking HF should be pretty close but I will try that another time. Thanks again for the project!
@RadioPrepper9 күн бұрын
It's probably a wound resistor, which makes a coil in AC. You must use a carbon resistor, or other, but not wound..

@@RadioPrepper Not to be argumentative, but ....where there's a Will, there's a way ! I think if these folks really wanted to operate, they would find a way ! There are just too many affordable alternatives, to keep you off the air, these days ! Perhaps what's lacking is a little ingenuity ? And too, these may be Hams that haven't bothered to learn Morse Code ? Which serves well, when looking for a place to operate ! But so many offer excuses why they can't learn the Morse Code ! But I think they are cheating themselves, and missing out on great fun ! But that is just my opinion, and I don't want to stray too far from the topic ! Just offering a great escape, for those that feel trapped and helpless by Contesters !

@@RadioPrepper Not to drag this on, but not knowing how long you've been licensed, ( Guessing you are a licensed Amateur ?), but Amateur Radio has undergone several changes thru the years ! Some through attrition, some thru advancements in technology ! Not to preach to the choir ! But the latter has likely been most influential, just by the nature of the beast ! Pushing the Radio Amateur out of their role of providing Emergency communications ! In many cases, by individuals that were in charge of Cities Emergency centers, that lacked understanding of the value of the Amateur Radio Service ! Where they chose in many cases, to throw money at it, and bought expensive, many times, " Motorola " radios, and then passed them out like candy, to untrained personnel ! And with the push from Radio manufacturers, to try and help themselves stay alive, to them lower the requirements for becoming a licensed operator ! So what we see today, is simply where Amateur Radio has morphed, into a completely different Animal ! Going from a , " Service ", to now what most think of as a, " Hobby " ! It is what it is ! The Genie's out of the bottle, and it's not going back in ! My advice, if I may, would be instead of sitting on the sidelines, would be to become involved ! Perhaps push yourself into learning new things ! Enjoy the Freedom to communicate, while we still have the ability ! As an older aged learner, I found this useful. It highlighted some concepts that I’ve been grappling with. For someone without English as a first language you’ve done well with the delivery. As an OCD, I jar with the use of capitals and lower case - RADIO, not RADiO. Problem with decoding though if trying to something which is deliberately non-English, eg 5 letter groups. Lucky we are not at war!
