Question on change engine oil every 5k miles. Do you replace filter sametime, too, or on alternate oil change?
@shopandmath2 ай бұрын
this year I traded in my unit for a RAV4 when I traded it in it had 64,000 km not miles and I was doing an oil change every 3000 km which is probably 2000 miles or something like that and every time I did replace the filter. You probably don’t need to, but we don’t get access in Canada to the super high-quality filters that you guys have access in the United States at least not from your local store. I hope this answers your question and thank you for watching the video Ray

Would it have come apart easier if you re inflated it
@shopandmath2 ай бұрын
If the rim doesn’t wanna separate, you can re-inflate the inner tube and it’ll force it apart, but there is some danger to die. It could literally explode so you do need to be careful with the air pressure. Hopefully this helps thank you for taking the time to comment. It is much appreciated.

I have an older original Pride Go Go Elite Traveler. Has been durable, only had to have the brake unit replaced many years ago. Some parts are becoming discontinued from online sources. Some used parts are available from Ebay. I am leery of buying "off brand" mobility scooters. Pride, Buzz Around and Drive brands have been around for some time and have generally good reputations and user support. I would not recommend buying any mobility scooter that needs repair, unless you have mechanical and electrical skills and ability to source parts and information. Professional scooter repair, if available in your area, is not cheap. Batteries are like car batteries, but are sealed. They go dead when not kept properly charged, when run down to dead, when stored in a hot car or garage during the summer, when left on charge continuously. When properly cared for batteries have 2-4 years of useful service. It is not rocket science to open a battery box up and change out the batteries, unsticking the old batteries from velcro requires some strength. You'll need a long phillips screwdriver and some common hand tools. Make sure that the measurements of new batteries in the online ads are exactly the same as the old ones you are replacing before you order them. Smaller scooter replacement batteries, like 12 -22 amp hour, cost from $60 to $120 per pair from Amazon, Home Depot and Walmart.( Two 12 volt SLA batteries are connected in series for 24 volts)

Shop techs are somehow convinced that an oil filter needs 1000 lbs of torque. Just to be sure. I just hand tighten. I don't have Popeye arms, but never, ever hand an oil filter leak or come off.

Yes, always drain the crankcase before removing the oil filter. Much less dripping.

Easy to replace the battery, but when I picked it up to put it back together, the insides - all the little pieces and mat fell apart. After 2 hours with tweezers, strong light etc, I still don't have it back together. Taking it to the dealer and they better not try to charge me labor to fix something so cheaply made.

Hi Ray, I don't think you would still have the old board lying around because my board seems to have three surface mount capacitors burnt. I cannot tell what the values are if any on the board. My question is can you take a close up picture of the soldered side of the board? If you don't have the old board, maybe you can take apart the good one, and take a picture of it. Thank You in advance if you can. PAUL

How to get a tyre off mobility scooter that hasn't got a spit rim.
@shopandmath4 ай бұрын
There are a couple of ways, but honestly neither of them are good. They generally produce some type of damage. The first way I would try is using a wheel puller, which basically has three arms and a bolt going through the centre that will physically pull the wheel off of the arbour I have also used to sweat the part off Unfortunately, this generally causes a good amount of damage, because most of the time the wheels are aluminum, and the bearings are not designed to be heated One of my other videos I also cut the axle off and replace the axle which is unpleasant

Thank you so much for the nice comment and thank you for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. I recently replaced the back brakes completely I found a person who does parts supply on Facebook. I bought pads callipers and rotors for both sides of the back brakes and I had to go to Canadian tire and get brake fluid to bleed the brakes afterward. Total cost was about $465 and it took about three hours to complete , now the brakes are smooth as silk

Having checked out a few charge Trouble shooting vlogs before discovering this channel, yours was the most ‘to the point’ and useful. In my case dealing with a Kymco Agility, the 10amp Blade fuse had blown when with a Multimeter I was attempting to test the battery voltage output at the plug-in socket. Touch the wrong pins and within seconds, the circuit is inadvertently blown. So I wouldn’t recommend it unless you know exactly which pin is what. Without realising it I must have shorted the charging circuit that is protected by a blade fuse, resulting in no charge when the charger is plugged in. Surprising it wasn’t obvious to locate the fuse assembly and remove the fuse cover, however, once ‘sussed’ out, it was simply a question of checking each fuse in succession to identify the ‘offending’ fuse. For some reason Kymco make opening the fuse cover very difficult by fitting a retaining the cover with tight fitting clips and an obscure release process. It’s easy when you know how, but can cause damage to the wiring circuit if you’re heavy handed and is clearly designed to dissuade DIY repairs. In short this is simple ‘fix’ made difficult by an industry determined to promote costly dealer repairs.

How do I repair speed control unit
@mariacarrera82825 ай бұрын
My controller box got wet , what will happen to my scooter
@shopandmath5 ай бұрын
Did it get wet while you were driving? If the machine is under power, or basically, electricity flowing through the circuitboard, and the circuitboard gets wet, it is possible to create a short circuit and blow or destroyed part of that board Another thing that also happens is it gets damp over a long period of time and the wires for the capacitor rust and then after period of time they won’t work anymore If you’re driving and you go through a deep puddle and the scooter stops, the batteries are not under water Stop get off the unit, put it in neutral and pull it out of the puddle. Do not turn it on again until everything is 100% dry almost like putting a cell phone fell in water into rice to absorb all of the moisture out of the actual phone. Water is the enemy of electronics and everything on that unit is electrical. There isn’t a good quality made Scooter on the market. Some of them have splash covers and that’s about it I seen you at when you look underneath the electronics are 100% exposed. The unit is dry 100% turn the unit back on most likely it will still run. If it doesn’t run check the fuses and also check terminals for corrosion.

It could be unfortunately in Canada. We don’t have the large variety that you guys have in the US. And all honesty I could use an empty filter because I change the oil every 3000 km not miles that’s what 1500 I have 64,000 km on the unit right now and change the oil probably 20 times I’m currently trying to trade this in for a Toyota RAV4 but unfortunately there’s a year to two year waiting list
