I hope they hurry up with the 2024 versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects and beyond. I just migrated from a mid-2014 to an M3 Max and I feel like a fish out of water with all of the plug-ins that are not loading. I use the Twitch plug-in by Video Copilot and it won''t load.

If you could only have one, which one would you recommend out of 33m, 45mm, 50mm?

Definitely the 50mm. However it’s still quite wide, so potentially having at least one longer focal length to cover yourself might be a good idea too!

Really high quality done. I have the A set and find the focal lengths are more usable as I tend to film wider. I have the 33mm on order. I film, squeezed and off a monopod. Comes out, okay 👍 love these lenses.

Fantastic video. I think the best feature to the current Blazar lineup is the price point. For years I dreamt of getting this anamorphic look in a set of primes. They're not perfect, but I dont know many anamorphics that are "perfect" and I dont think filmmakers could ever agree on what "perfect" is haha. But compared to the other lenses in this price range.. I personally love the look these render over them all. Blazar is filling gaps and just getting started ;)
@MattQuattro2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Cam and I totally agree. They nailed the price point for the quality these lenses deliver and keen to see how they keep innovating from here. Your videos were also really helpful in my decision so I appreciate all the work you've done!

Yeah, but I find it is not anywhere good as when using normal lenses. 😮 it gives a slow wobble when you pan...
@timekeepermedia51422 ай бұрын
@@waynosfotoscameras There's a fix for anamorphics in Resolve to fight the fishbowl effect when you pan. Traditionally and just in general you don't see a lot of panning shots with anamorphics to begin with, now imagine trying to compensate for that electronically..makes sense there's issues haha

Didn’t know that anamorphics had different colour flares! Sitting in my JJ Abrams viewing suite thinking they are only blue. Who knew?

I think the issue with the JJ Abrams viewing suite is it turns all the flares blue by default, so there's no way to know!

Great video Matt! The Remus B-Set look really nice, I love the smaller physical size and the more neutral looking lens flares. The footage you captured with look looks really nice and clean as well. I'm definitely a DOP that doesn't need to own a set of anamorphics for the work that I do, but it's really nice to see more competition in the space. Also the MiniDV sequence at the very end has me missing my old MiniDV cameras, I really wish I hadn't sold them.
@MattQuattro2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Ben and totally agree with you! It's a niche type of lens in today's market, especially with social media demands. Usually a full 16:9 or 3:2 aspect is preferred. But still amazing that the price for these lenses is now equal to most spherical options. I know what you mean about the MiniDV Camera too. That one lasts for about 2 minutes per charge these days so I had just enough time to put the tape in haha

That's a little out of the scope of this tutorial but you would need to mask the hand out either using Resolve or another compositing application such as Adobe After Effects. Resolve has some pretty good magic mask features these days!

Thanks for the shoutout! Now, after watching this, there are already 2 or 3 new editing processes we want to try out on our newly shot footage (iPhone 15 Pro). Your motion blur applied to shots that are way too busy makes a lot of sense. Sometimes, you think "whoa, the iPhone really slammed every frame to maximum sharpness" and until watching this, hadn't thought it was modifiable in post at all. Next up, the Gaussian blur applied to just the highlights seems like an achievable way to make our shots seem less clinical and carry a bit more of the mystical feeling that should be embedded in the shot. Although we use Final Cut Pro, we think we know how to apply what you taught here. Great video, man!
@MattQuattro5 ай бұрын
Honestly, the stuff you shot overseas looked amazing and it was the perfect application for a smartphone. I think these tips can be useful if something in a particular shot is bothering you but otherwise, it's always more about the story as I'm sure you'd agree. Thanks for watching and your support as always!

To be fair, the 15 Pro and Apple LOG looks much better than the 13 Pro's regular picture profile. The footage isn't as oversharpened and you get more dynamic range (not much but it's absolutely noticeable). The 15 Pro is also the phone that was used in Apples own events and not a three year old iPhone, the footage does look much less phone-like.
@MattQuattro5 ай бұрын
Totally agree! I was hoping to use an iPhone 15 Pro for this one but it didn't happen in the end. Everything I've seen of Apple Log looks like a big improvement but some of the issues such as a locked aperture and those annoying lens reflections still persist. Still, fingers crossed they can keep making meaningful improvements each year.
@LiamMarskog5 ай бұрын
@@MattQuattro Oh yeah, i totally agree with you there. The overall issues you brought up are ofc still the same, it's still a phone after all. The footage looks much better but everything else is still pretty limiting as it's a phone and my guess is that those sort of issues will persist. I don't think Apple will cripple the phone part to make it a better more flexible videocamera. Like you said in the video you can build it out like Apple did in the keynotes (which ofc requires a crew) but at that point why not just use a real cinema camera. Great video! Glad you're back. I enjoy your videos a lot. Thanks!
