Not sure if it will make a big difference but I think the clicker washer where you bend the tabs is supposed to go on top, so the new drag washer sits nice and flush between the other plates. The extra plate is just preference and is what originally came with most kits, if someone wants to bend both tabs for a nice loud click they added the blue plate.

@@SimonC82686 Idk man I bought 5 of these and they all work great set up exactly the way I did it in this video. Clicks are loud. Drag is strong. I bent both sides on the clicker washer on a couple of them to make it louder just for fun. They’re all on SLX XTs and SLX MGL 70s. I also put one on a Caius B but instead of the blue piece I used the other top silver piece it came with because the blue one was too thick to close the side plate. Works great too. 🤙🏽

@@WhereWeWild gotcha, I didn't like the idea of putting the clicker on top the drag washer and figured the top plates are notched out for a reason so I set them up with the clicker on top. So It works fine either way I guess.

That’s so interesting man. Hilarious it doesn’t even come with directions 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 But before I did this for the first time I watched a bunch of videos of people doing it and they were doing it this way so that’s I did. Haha as long as it works! 🤷🏻‍♂️😂🤙🏽

I got the same kit last year. Same situation, I installed it just like you - but never understood why there were two covers. Now I think I know why there's 2 covers (blue one and metal finish one). The blue one is for when you bend BOTH tabs for the clicker. The other one is for when only one tab is bent. Hence why both sides on the blue cover is exposed and for the other one, it's exposed only on one half.

@@dxnarutoboi Hmmm. Interesting. I haven’t really noticed that, BUT haha I have discovered that this kit works on other reels like the Caius for example if you use the metal finish one because it’s not as thick as the blue. 😎😁🤙🏽

Hi I just put this in my SLX DC that larger piece your showing must be the new piece as mine did not have the blue one? I think because it has more surface area it flattens out against the other piece with more force?

@@PHFishingBiking Hmm interesting this same exact SLX kit didn’t have the blue piece? Seemed like a spacing thing and I was able to make this clicker work on the Shimano Caius by using the silver piece instead of the blue. But yeah maybe they both work on the slx models 🤷🏻‍♂️ I only tried the blue one on my slx reels. XT and MGL 70. Did it work for you though with the silver piece?

@@WhereWeWild Hi that's cool I don't think it matters if yours is working, Mine is working but when I took my handle off I lost the click pin and spring! do you really need it for the drag? I tried finding the parts seems like there always out of stock...probably everyone loses them? LOL!! I also put one in my DAIWA FOR FUEGO SV103CS it was a different type you had to glue in a toothed ring on the brass gear but it is working great also.

@PHFishingBiking Ugh man 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 Every reel video I make I always say be so careful with that part those pieces are so ridiculously small! Yeah I bet people lose them all the time it’s so easy to. It’s just makes the star drag click when you tighten and loosen it, shouldn’t affect the actual drag at all.

@@WhereWeWild Yeah it Popped up and took off onto the garage floor gone!! I actually made one from a bic pen ball point tip! I will say this the daiwa reels when you take the drag star off are much better you can't lose anything how they work.

I just found it on the garage floor it was crazy that little piece and the tiny spring dropped from like 3ft on the cement floor and I looked and moved everything and I just went down and moved one more thing and it was right there both spring and pin like a inch apart from each other!! Put it back in all like new again! LOL!!!

Nice review ! Do you think this one would fit the '24 SLX 70/71 MGL as well ? From what I've seen,they should be pretty similar inside the gearbox,but I'm not 100% sure🤔

What do you think about the smaller drag washer? Would you say you still get the 11 lbs of drag compared to the stock/carbon one you upgraded with? Also, with it be much smaller is it as smooth as the OEM one? One last question, what do you think about the quality of the parts, are they stainless steel and have you had any rust build up? I do salt water fishing and wanted to see how it was holding up beforehand. Thanks

I’m not sure of the exact amount of pounds it puts out, but the drag seems to lock down pretty darn good and think it would be more than enough. It’s pretty smooth for being a cheap aftermarket clicker, it’s a different feeling than having no clicker. I fish fresh water with these reels so I’m not sure how they would hold up but as long as you keep the reels clean I’d think they’d be ok for a while. They’re very inexpensive so I’d say give it a shot and see if you like it 😊🤙🏽

What is the best screw driver kit for reel maintenance? I try everything I hate stripping my screw every time I do my maintenance.

@@RippinLipzAddictz I have mine and a few other decent options linked in the video description 👊🏽 Regardless though, always have to be careful and gentle and make sure you are using the right size bit and have a good lock up and fit. Also, I find that using a flathead to break loose and tighten the little Phillips screws help to not strip them. 🤙🏽

If you go with the singmatools brand it comes with the tools you need, both greases and I like the design a bit better than this one(no glueing) the gear it comes with you have to press it in on a flat table with a good amount of pressing and it's pretty much tight as is.

will this kit work to install a clicker to a Shimano Caius 150HG? (a lower end version of the SLX)

Not sure but I would think it would being so similar. The kits are so cheap too I’d probably just give it a shot. You know what I have an extra kit and a Caius B I’ll try it and let you know. 😁🤙🏽

Ok well… It’s a little more sloppy but it works. Might need a little super glue for the sticky pad, little more tricky to center than the slx, and the blue top piece seems too thick where you can’t close the side plate back up, so you have to use the other silver top piece it comes with which is a little thinner. It was missing a couple clicks here and there as you pull line out for some reason but I went back in and bent the other arm of the clicker piece and that seems to have helped with the missing clicks by doubling them up, and the drag is locking down fairly well. Give it a shot. 🤙🏽

No problem I was planning on taking that reel apart and cleaning it anyway. Now it has a drag clicker 😂🤙🏽 I just got the kit on AliExpress just search shimano slx drag clicker it should come right up. Same exact install as this video just use the silver top piece instead of the blue one and if you can bend the other arm of the clicker piece a tiny bit to match the other arm it helps it click on every rotation. Should work well. 🤙🏽

Yeah I was thinking the same thing bro haha but it’s way stronger than I thought it would be. Can always try it and see if you like it, rip it back off if not, they’re super cheap.
