For how long it can be stored in the fridge in cake box?
@TheCrumbCakeKitchen3 ай бұрын
Hi, I would store it without the decorations as only iced. Fondant decorations often don’t do well in the fridge. 😃

Hi, love this cake. Can I ask how you stored the fondant decorations to dry before adding them to the cake as you made them in advance
@billdomb11 ай бұрын
Thought isomalt was hygroscopic and gets sticky overnight.
@TheCrumbCakeKitchen11 ай бұрын
It can if you live in a very humid climate. I spray mine with cake gloss to prevent. I’ve had isomalt display toppers for months without issue. Of course they are only for display at that point.

How can i store it? Will it be melting after setting on a cake?. Can i preserve it in fridge?
@TheCrumbCakeKitchen11 ай бұрын
It cannot go in the fridge. Since it’s a hard candy, it also won’t need to. It will last for months on a container with lid. The cake will not affect it but don’t put it on until you’re ready to display the cake out of the fridge.

@TheCrumbCakeKitchen Жыл бұрын
Store them in an airtight container and they will be fine. If it’s more than a couple of weeks I’d also put them in the fridge in the air tight container. They will not spoil any faster than the original chocolate. Best of luck!!!!

I’m doing a coca-cola themed cake soon and it will be “gravity-defying” as if the can of coke is pouring down and wanted to use the isomalt bowl method to be like a “splash” but I was wondering, after the bowl has been made, I will need to add the bowl to the top of the cake and then a wooden dowel will need to go through the middle so that the coke can spill down so I was wondering once the bowl is made could I use the torch to heat the center just a bit and then make a hole for the dowel to go through? Is that how you would do it? I hope I explained that well! 😅
@TheCrumbCakeKitchen Жыл бұрын
Hmmm this is tricky. That could work but the bowl can be so fragile that it’s a bit risky. You might want to consider making a hole in the bottom of the bowl while it’s still firming up. I think it might be easier. You could put a small piece of a straw in the center when your pouring to maintain the hole. Or something else that won’t melt. That way you could slip the dowel through easily.
@jenniechreene2281 Жыл бұрын
Oh yes I see what you’re saying!! That sounds much easier! I will definitely try making the whole while it’s still setting up! Not sure why I didn’t think of that! Lol!!! Thank you so much for your response and thank you for sharing this clear tutorial! ❤

Hi this is beautiful. I’m a novice baker and making this for my daughter in a few days. How did you get the fondant colours so beautifully pastel? Did you use white fondant and colour it? I can get my hands on pre coloured fondants but red, yellow, blue,black and green. They are quite loud. Can I just add white fondant and would that make them more pastel in shade? Or do I need to colour myself with gel colours ??
@TheCrumbCakeKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Hi. It’s important to start with white fondant. Then dip a toothpick in a little colour and add the tiniest amount and mix thoroughly into the fondant. I do it several times to get this pastel shade. Don’t worry about adding too little, worry about adding too much colour. It’s such a small amount I use. When it’s very close to what I want, I stop. The colour will intensify over 24 hours so always stop short of what you want with colour (one or two shades lighter). I hope that helps. I’d love to see you’re finished cake.

Hi. Once the decorations are on, you need to keep it out of the fridge. They can be placed last minute in a nice chilled cake though. Thank you for watching.
