The argument behind Posidon getting beaten is because Odysseus had the power and force of the godly storm in his strikes. And its stated that posidon isn't one for close range combat. He is mainly ranged battle

The torture scene was kinda hard for me because on the one hand it was cathartic but on the other I always struggle with torture scenes. Like even when the character arguably deserves it like 9 times out of 10 I feel at least a little bad. Idk maybe I'm a wimp and Odysseus and I would not get along. If I remember correctly, in the Odyssey Poseidon couldn't stop Odysseus from making it home because Zeus had decreed Odysseus was to be allowed home. My instinct here is it's a similar situation, Poseidon can't just sink Odysseus' raft without going against Zeus, but nothing was said about Ody's family and if Odysseus CHOOSES to jump into the water, well, Poseidon didn't technically break Zeus' decree.

People have been trying to map Odysseus's trip since basically time immemorial with mixed results because ... fantasy, but most of those efforts agree that Ithaca is actually a pretty long schlep from Ogygia. In the actual Odyssey, Odysseus leaves Ogygia on a raft and makes it to basically the halfway point, where the locals take pity on him and take him home. I figure Jay, understandably, didn't want to bog the last leg of the journey down with another stop. 'Dangerous' has a very montage-y vibe to it, so I'm assuming, by the magic of musicals and Hermes' twerking, that song covered several days, and we're probably supposed to assume that Charybdis didn't literally appear the second Hermes left. Honestly, if you look at a map, the distance between Ithaca and Troy is, like, 'maybe we should have just walked' compared to everything else.

Regardless of what Calypso may or may not have done in Epic I just can't sympathize with her much. I understand that she's hurting and alone and wants to be loved but at a certain point you have to accept someone telling you "No". I feel like quite a bit of the fandom forgets that there are 7 YEARS on that island that we don't see and no matter how you slice it, that's a terrifying thought. And Athena's one line referencing his time there doesn't make Calypso seem like a great hostess. Imagine being stuck on an island for multiple years with only a powerful goddess for company knowing that if she chose to she could do anything she wanted to you. I feel like I'm in the minority but INSLY honestly made me dislike her *more* not less.

Calypso's whole "invisible guards" thing is the fact every god canonically in EPIC has the ability to summon background vocals lmao, I love that theory though!!! Calypso's been so controversial ever since her first song came out but in this one it's hard not to feel just a LITTLE bit bad. As always all of her actions were inexcusable and she should probably just go to jail for life. But people really overthink that she's been on that island HER WHOLE LIFE ever since she was a kid most likely. She doesn't know what consent really means, she doesn't know how far she's pushed Ody, and sure it seems obvious to US what the limit was, but she probably thought she needed to keep pushing him to get through, despite how horrible it was. Luckily she's more redeemable in EPIC since she doesn't do the really intense things she's done in actual Odyssey, and her whole " sorry my love's too much for you" probably wasn't to have so much denseness, but probably for the fact Odysseus had no one that loved him on that island, except Calypso who she tried her best to, and overshot a lot. Again she has no clue what love is other than romance, she hasn't had friends so she doesn't know how those work. :C There's also several ways Odysseus means by " But not in the way you want me to " near the end. My speculation and headcanon is he meant it in a friendly way, which the way he said it is what gave Caly the hint. He doesn't HATE her and could probably understand Calypso's reasonings after she gave her tiny backstory, so as hard as it sounds he was at least grateful Calypso kept him alive, because if he did end up giving up, it'd suck since Athena saved him eventually.
