This is why I cant get into arena fighters really. Closest I got to was BT3 back in the day. Even sparking zeros explosion effects are kind of "meh" compared to the show.

As much as I love guest characters I feel it’s them that are holding back the games from getting rereleases due to licensing fees or a simple unwillingnes to go through that copyright hell.

It's a real shame that Link was the only character to legitimately fit in as a soul calibur character. It's unfortunate that cloud couldn't make the cut and basically got replaced by a non-weapon fighter. They should have just left him out entirely or put someone else in who would have fit in. Though when you think about it Nintendo was horribly underrepresented in this game considering every other system basically had 2 each. Necrid and spawn which were developed by Todd McFarlane and represented x-box could be seen as 2 mascots AND heiachi along side yochimitsu both from Tekken could be seen as PlayStation representatives. The only lone wolf in SC2 was link! They could have thrown in a spear moblin or hyrulian guard spearman or something to balance out the game instead of charade which basically is just a clone copy of inferno... 😒👎

The game sucked because they made it 2 characters instead of three just so the could make dbz fighters like mvc 3... which destroyed both games as, dbz is not diverse enough to have a mvc like fighting style and mvci is everything that nobody asked for.

Other games make the tutorial a part of their campaign, giving you only the very basic tools and your opponent would have the same limitations, then on the next level a new thing appears that makes you think "I wish I had this in the previous level" because it becomes useful, but your opponent also has it, so every time you actually learn (if, very basically) how to use everything, what do you like to use and a (very basic) sense on why and when to use it.

Now let’s talk about how much the dlc pack cost compared to now.

Honestly I feel this genre would hugely benefit from adopting Devil May Cry 3 through 5's combat, a gameplay style that is far more easy to pick up for newcomers than at first glance. Hell if you ignore the guns and the Swordmaster Style from 3 onwards, DMC in general is practically a one attack button game. Much of what Dante can do is heavily tied to one primary attack button. A lot of the branching combo attacks needing little more than for you to stop pressing the button for a split second at a given point. Specials dictated by whether or not your holding the stick towards or away from the opponent. And if you do take the Swordmaster Style button into account, DMC basically plays like a 3D Smash Bros. It is a surprisingly easy 3D combat system that you could hide deeper complexities into but still be easy to pick up. Another benefit to adding depth is to either do away with gameplay halting "cinematic supers"......or save them for a round ending Finisher system sort of like Fatalities in MK minus the gore _(or with the gore given some of these anime titles)._ Making it less about charging up to do the big cutscene super for high damage and more about earning that big finish after a long well fought battle.

I think the biggest problem was the design of the game. It visually wasn’t appealing. The characters were fine. The roster was different. The character designs were very bland and the graphics used seemed lifeless. Mvc1 and mvc2 artwork stood out, I mean the attack moves were visually unique

The few anime fighters I can think of that can actually be played sorta competitively like a traditional fighter are Clash of Ninja and Budokai. These games aren't very complex no but there is a good amount of depth. You've got easy combos and get out of jail cards, however, the worthwhile combos actually take effort and the get out of jail cards aren't free as they cost meter and in Budokai you need timing as well.

arena fighters are one of my favorite types of games cause it dosent feel complex as a traditional fighting game like street fighter it lets me kinda shut my braincells off a bit i like the simplicity i do wish they were a bit more complex though

Marvel always could do literally everything else with these characters: comics, cartoons, games, action figures, stickers, cereal, underwear and Fox wouldn't be able to stop them. 3D anime fighters are nothing short of garbage imo. terrible balance, terrible animations, horrible movement, garbage graphics with gameplay that serves NOTHING more than fanservice. just garbage. play an actual fighting game. they arent even good party games. trash.
