Hi Afshin. Hope all is well with you and that your back is healing. I have back issues as well now. No more long days in the shop but I still get out there and turn away. I was thinking about purchasing a record coronet herald. There is only one distributor of Record Power in Canada so I thought I would ask you if you would recommend this maker. I don't really turn large bowls. Small and medium sized. I think the largest bowl Ive turned is 11.5 inches in diameter. And some spindle work so I don't need a huge lathe. Take care george

How did you get it to shine again? Just by sanding with 2000grit?
@CraftWithAfshin Жыл бұрын
sanding it to 2000 helps alot also i used this fine abrasive liquid while lathe is running it takes out all the fine scratches its called "Axminster Fine Polishing & Honing Paste"

Just discovered your channel. You have some awesome pieces, congrats. I have a Herald myself and know that beeping. This lathe is a princess on the pea. But you're lucky to have it on the stand. Seems to be pretty stabile. Mine is table-mounted and therefore wobbling around. Thanks for your relaxed Präsentation.

thanks for watching my videos mate, and yes this lathe is awesome also i am mounting it on stand with sand inside the legs and then bolted to the ground which allowed me to core out 15kg spanish olive burl so nothing to complain about the lathe :)

Before I got my lathe and got into turning, I had a piece of bubinga that I milled and made a chest out of. It turned out beautifully, despite the fact I was still learning and made a lot of mistakes. I fell in love with the wood from the moment I started the project, not only because of it's rich dark color and beautiful grain patterns, but when cutting and sanding it emitted the most wonderful smell I have ever experienced in wood working, and there are a lot of aromatic woods out there. I immediately did a search for bubinga incense, but alas, to no avail.
@CraftWithAfshin2 жыл бұрын
Bubinga if i remember correctly smelled like some sort of spice like turmeric. im glad you enjoy wood working i hope my videos either inspire you or help you to try out woodturning just dont do long sessions like me and end up with severe neck pains.
@blainehebert75082 жыл бұрын
@@CraftWithAfshin unfortunately when I first started, I thought I didn't need any kind of mask or face shield, just my shop glasses. After years of breathing in saw dust, I developed an allergy to wood, and now must wear a full face mask that filters the air when I do it, or I end up in the hospital. Just glad that allergy doesn't apply to touching it, otherwise I would need a whole hazmat suit, which of course I would get before abandoning this hobby.
@CraftWithAfshin2 жыл бұрын
@@blainehebert7508 sorry to hear that i also wear the full mask with filter i did it from start but most the time since i was turning on video i didnt have it on other than face shield but during sanding i always had it on and didnt record it. Stay safe mate.
