hey, if we subscribe to your patreon can we get your workout routine? I'm old and just started skating again after 20 years, and I'm fat and suck, I wanna get back in shape but by the time I get warmed up I get maybe 20 minutes of quality skating in and then my legs are toast. Doesn't help that it's a bajillion degrees out.
@NormanWoods11 сағат бұрын
Yes. I have several workouts up there already. But you can also message me there, and I’ll share more of them. There’s also a monthly Q&A. Plus other posts.

Have you ever seen the way Tom Penny popped tricks in his prime? He did this mad "arm pumping" movement, first upwards like you recommend but as the knees suck towards his chest they circle round like he's trying to get his chest and knees as close as poss using that momentum. On 180 tricks he only does this with his back arm that becomes the leading arm on landing. Tyshawn does a kinda backwards swing with his arms that seems to push his head forward and his chest towards his knees. Use your arms!

norman i would really love if you could speak about ollieing moving while not looking at your feet. for context i longboarded and skated every where as a child but never actually tried tricks. so riding a skateboard is like a bike for me but now im 26 trying to learn tricks and parks and im pretty decent at ollieing while moving but am having trouble commiting to obstacles because i feel scared when im not looking at my feet, which inevitably makes it impossible to time when to do the ollie. it makes me discouraged and i havent found one video that addresses this nuance specifically. thank you

I am so happy to land my first Ollie to manual on flat and on the pad. I did it after watching this video and following some of the steps. The only thing I changed was: Before Ollie to manny, I did like “no pop” Ollie to manny, with just a little tail push. This step helped me gradually getting the real Ollie to manny. And I also tried doing Ollie to manual stationary while holding to wall.

i feel this problem is everywhere. took me personally 8 years of skateboarding and then another 3 years after i got back into it later just to figure out that i was bending my back WAY too much. funny thing is, you can skate that way if you learn how to compensate.. but it takes SO much more energy. like doing 3 ollies in a row is exausting if you have to lift your entire upper body from your back every time. it can also really mess up your timing, because crouching down and popping as you finally come fully up become miles apart.
@NormanWoods5 күн бұрын
I felt like a weight had been lifted off my back, once I figured this out. So crazy how little tiny adjustments can have such a huge impact on your technique, stamina, pop…etc!

Man Norm I gotta say you are beyond helpful with your explanations and teachings, Iv been skating 17 years, have been shop sponsored when I was younger but nothing crazy anyway, your lessons have cleaned up soooo many things that my mind/body weren’t 100% sure on certain tricks and some techniques and it’s insane the improvement I’m feeling and seeing, I wish I had these videos years ago! Thanks for the great content

Oh man! Unreal. I had hoped you would answer my question but it floored me when i heard my name in the video! Felt you tube famous for a second 😂. Thank you for your help! Im definately skating just for fun but I want to solidify fundementals and it always bothered me that people were so nasty back in the day about my pushing mongo. If your still winning skate whats it matter? Lol. But all jokes aside i feel like its helpful to learn both. It makes me feel more balanced on my board to be more of an ambidextrous skater, which i feel is kinda the point of riding switch. Plus skogging is fun and helpful sometimes too! Thanks again Norman I look out for your vids weekly. Keep 'em coming.
@NormanWoods6 күн бұрын
You’ve got the right idea. If you’re having fun and progressing, you don’t need to change anything. I’ll talk more about it in a video soon. Thanks for watching, commenting 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
