This video changed my life. I saw myself in this character and realized that living like that is just laughable. Too much egocentrism. Too much control of my environment. Without some chaos nothing can grow. The romanticization of the perfectly ordered life is a fundamental part of being a loser.

I sometimes come back and watch this video. Just to feel seen. Just to know I'm heard. Just to have understanding. Then, the video ends, as well as my long compile that was running in the background. I wash away my sadness and go back to work, having staved off another existential crisis.

I've gone to meetings just like this except NONE of the micro services being referenced actually exist. It's just endless arguments over what they would actually do. Of course, you have to also add in a HIPPA-compliant HL7 parser service because these days the security team thinks all services known to mankind will eventually need merging with health care related data. You have an E-commerce site for large scale farm equipment? Make sure all data is first routed through the HIPPA anonymizer just in case.

Its 2024 and AI can describe this to product managers now: Based on the image, it appears to be a whiteboard diagram of a backend system architecture or data flow. The diagram shows various interconnected components and concepts, though it's not a complete or fully detailed architecture. Here are some key elements I can make out: 1. At the center, there's a component labeled "RINGO", which seems to be a core part of the system. 2. There are database symbols, indicating some form of data storage. 3. Various other components or services are connected, including something that looks like "EKS" (possibly referring to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service). 4. There are arrows and lines connecting different elements, suggesting data flow or dependencies between components. 5. Some concepts like "API", "Load Balancing", and what appears to be "Kafka" (a distributed streaming platform) are visible. 6. There's a stick figure drawing on the right side of the whiteboard, which seems unrelated to the architectural diagram. The person standing next to the whiteboard is likely explaining or presenting this backend architecture. It appears to be a complex, distributed system with multiple services and data stores, possibly using cloud technologies and microservices architecture. However, without more context or clearer details, it's difficult to provide a more specific description of the exact nature or purpose of this backend system.

Everyone of your videos makes me want to never manage an engineering team again, never open a computer and just live on a farm somewhere nice. This is the sole distilled feeling I get every time I have my ptsd triggered with these. I’ve had the pleasure of working with so many different cultures and there are always a couple of archetypes regardless of nationality that drive me insane.
