‪@Apple‬'s WWDC event did not disappoint with the announcement of Apple Intelligence, or as Apple calls it “AI For The Rest of Us.”
Even bigger, ‪@OpenAI‬'s ChatGPT is being integrated directly into iOS 18 for free and Apple will allow users to call upon it anonymously for deeper Generative AI questions.
This is a full blown redesign of everything Apple does with generative AI in mind. From a revamped Siri that can actually do stuff for you, to system wide integrated AI writing tools, to photo search to Image Playground, an generative AI image engine that can take photos of you and turn them into cute little ‘Genmojis’.
They’re also putting a huge emphasis on privacy, with most of these AI tools operating on the local device and then, when it needs to call upon the cloud, it will do so with privacy in mind so that your stuff stays yours (or at least this is what they’re saying for now).

This is what I've been waiting for from Google for several years now, and it's the first thing from Apple (along with the expanded customization) that has began convincing me to make the switch....

Apple blew my expectations I didn’t think they were going to go this far with AI but everything sounded awesome and so useful. I was a bit let down that it only works with 15 pro as I have a 14 pro so upgrading now is gonna kinda suck but I guess that’s what they want to push new devices.

Apple’s putting AI, or should I say Apple Intelligence, into everyone’s hands. Privacy and satellite texting-what?! And how cool is the new Image Playground?! Customizable iOS, Game Mode, tighter health tracking, and macOS Sequoia with iPhone mirroring. Safari’s got true private browsing. Gemoji lets you create custom emojis from your photos! Siri teaming up with ChatGPT? Maybe she’ll finally be useful. Third-party security and privacy verification means your data is safe. Got an iPhone 15 Pro? You’ll get these features sooner. I agree, boost to iPhone 15 sales, anyone? Can’t wait to see how this all works for us peasants.

It's all super cool and I think give Apple hardward 100% a reason to be the thing you keep across all your stuff. That said, always a grain of salt, we don't know EXACTLY how this will work when it rolls out and our experiences with Siri up until now haven't been amazing.

Conversations...I don't think so, I think they fear lawsuits...Siri told me to....Siri thinks this.... Nope, no chatbot, so I'm kinda disappointed. I wanted to have my chatGPT memories on device, then encrypted and sent to iCloud like health data. I want my personal AI to learn about what I do, what I like, I want it to know what I like to eat, what I purchase etc.. I want to replace my real secretary. LOL. Is Siri going to make complete spreadsheets for me like ChatGPT? Is it going to talk through deep questions about those spreadsheets or work? I don't think this will come close to what ChatGPT offers, BUT I do want the security. If OpenAI or Anthropic comes out with a secure encrypted version, I'm 100% switching. Kevin said it exactly right, I like the privacy aspect, not that I have big secrets, I'm basically boring, but I feel weird uploading my images and information about me then having a complete history in one location available to who knows? sometimes I feel these online profiles know more about me than my therapists. LOL

Siri is now going to be so stinking useful. I already have an M1 Mac Mini and an M1 iPad Air. Looks like I'll be ditching my Pixel 8 Pro for a new iPhone this fall. A lot more people will be upgrading too since it's only available on A17 Pro and better. If you have anything less than an iPhone 15 Pro you're gonna need a new phone. You will pay the Apple Tax and be happy.

From what I'm reading, way more positive talk, lots od people saying I guess I'm upgrading to iPhone 15 pro or better, or need to get an M1 or better...So Apple might have the largest upgrading cycle ever...true iPhone super-cycle incoming. I have an iPhone 8 Plus (I LOVE IT), I never thought I would give up my touchID....Well I'm going to do it😞 I'm buying a the new 16 pro ultra max AI super duper wallet destroying ego phone. The sad part is I'll probably end up using ChatGPT more than Siri.

Yeah, agreed, I wanted Siri to be put out to pasture and ChatGPT to be the underlying AI, but we got it wrong, Apple is using it's own AI and just having Siri able to talk to ChatGPT. But I think the voice will most likely be upgraded at the iPhone event, it's not really a WWDC thing, right? not really important for developers. It's more a selling point for the new iPhones so I don't think we were seeing the best of what's to come, plus not the best time to showcase a voice with the whole ScarJo debacle so fresh.
