Not sure I’d think of Bo Burnham as “self serious”, but I get your meaning. Still surprised to see him in any serious discussion about hip hop, I think he’d be surprised too. Isn’t it weird that being the pinnacle of what hip hop actually is, a word smith, is considered a bad thing? It’s almost like “be good at this lyrics thing, but not too good, if your too good suddenly we won’t like you as much, even though your better than 85% of the rest of the people out here”. Hip hop is so weird sometimes

1:19:00 : I just took up your "challenge" to see if 😵‍💫The Algorithm 😵 would guide me towards content about CRT. In my case : NO problem. I found HBO and FOX-news. The former emphasized the academic foundation of CRT , asked direct questions to black scholars. HBO also said emphasized that FOX-news was creating a lot of hype to direct concerned parents to send (enroll?) their children into certain schooldistrics. Fox-news content showed interviews with the hype-campaigners who were indeed talking about concerned parents, making suggestions that "😶‍🌫️🫥 The Other Side🫥😶‍🌫️" has a hidden agenda. BTW : "CRT" is also a short for "Cathode Ray Tube". That is the electronic technology used in our "old" televisions.

I don’t know, I feel like using the excuse of “saving souls” to cover the basic manners of showing up on time for something you yourself set the time for is ridiculous if your not actually producing anything to save souls with, I mean, is she saying she’s still saving souls with Miseducation? Seems unlikely, but ok I guess. I’m also nervous about the idea of wishing she stuck around and created more music after miseducation, I’d love to hear new music from her, but what do we all have to accept from her behavior that would go along with it? She seems problematic at best (or difficult maybe?) but it’s a difficult thing for all of us when you love the art an artist makes but the person can be an asshole.

Saying white people can't do rap because it was invited by black people is like saying black people can't play basketball because it was invited by a white guy. If you have the talent then it doesn't matter the color of your skin.

Wait wait wait, I always thought that what Kanye was bitching about was just pure racism regarding the elites of the fashion world. I didn’t know he thought he should be able to just become a designer. Why would he think that he could just jump to the top of the fashion world from a career in music? Don’t get me wrong, I’m into fashion in the sense I’m into wearable clothes that people actually wear, I know little about high fashion and what you see on runways (it always felt more like “hey look at this ridiculously obnoxious outfit I put together on this model that’s attached to my name, now go to Macys and buy my sweaters”) but I always figured Kanye was to true fashion designers what Drake is to true rappers, someone who can move product and make money, I didn’t think anyone actually thought someone with zero fashion design experience besides deciding what he wore and what was worn on tour would shoot to the top of the fashion world, it’s kind of ridiculous to even consider, musical genius doesn’t necessarily transfer to other creative outlets. He kept saying “rap is the culture, we’re the new rock and roll” but rock and roll stars don’t become fashion designers either. It’s like he thought if he demanded things enough, the lack of any experience would be overlooked. Also, I don’t doubt racism is def part of why Kanye couldn’t get into that world, but there are things that don’t make sense as well, like Virgil Abloh and Off White who started Off White right around that time. Also Kanye’s extremely erratic public behavior (imagine being in an industry that has nothing to do with music for the most part and a what appears to be an unhinged hip hop star shows up demanding to be considered a fashion designer along with all the people who had degrees in design). I don’t know, I always thought Ye just deciding to leave music to be in an industry he had no real experience in besides as a fan was a bit…..off.

To understand Jack Harlow, you have to understand Louisville. It's a unique place racially, economically, and culturally. And all of it is far more mixed together than most big cities. I lived there for a good minute and experienced all parts. But Jack has been making music since he was a little kid and it was arguably better before he went mainstream. Making music for the charts and radio is ironically what killed him...

1:29:19 I'm confused by whats on the screen here as well as by what's being said. Is the cat boy stuff p*dophilia? why someone called a minor having sex with an adult "unironically hot"? The omni liberal tweet seems like arguing about a technicality. Why do they talk about pedophilia in "repulsive" ways in their community? What's the nuance to that that I'm missing that makes it not as weird?

I get disturbed by groups on Facebook that share bad dating content and bad dating advice and how many examples chosen from Black creators or commenters. I can't tell if it's chosen due to racist selection, or there's just that many awful takes out there. But, either way, The BGW memes makes Dating While Black sound just *vicious* and it's just, like, *damn* life's hard enough, dating's hard enough, without commentary raising the temperature and making shit sound impossible.

Are there really people who don’t realize that those feeds are based on your viewing history? I know that if I find some topic and go down a rabbit hole on that subject one evening, I’m going to spend the next week or so avoiding that subject on my feed until it realizes I’m done watching that thing. What’s scarier to me is when I see something online and I go to like Google or something and start to type, get like 3 letters of the first word typed in (and it can be a word like “what doe….”) and it goes right to what I was thinking about, I realize that I, like everyone else have been suckered into following someone else’s agenda, that scares the shit out of me

The thing about Berserk the edgelord beginning arc. The last page you see is him walking away from the battle. And it is revealed that his face is frowning and full of tears like a child. Even in the first arc he knew he wanted to blow the lid on this archetype.

Kevin Samuels presented a Western European socialization as though it should apply to African Americans. It was steeped in "race" and racism. It's not "race" hatred, because "race" is a Western European social construct that intended to institute hatred (and to terrorize without consequence) of all "races" not considered "Caucasian" or "White." Samuels, and the idiocy he presented, had little to do with "the gender wars." It was always about "race."

The greatest legends of hip hop recognize Eminem as one of the best. Look up all the clips of legends responding to his piece on Jay-Z’s Renegade. Everyone knew at that point they needed to take him seriously bc he out-did Jay. There is no “white rapper” problem in hip hop. There’s just a “KZbinr who likes to hear himself talk” problem.

Man do you hate much I kinda feel Luke you might be jealous of others success but any way if some white guy came out and said half of what you've said about black people in rock and country they would be attacked mercilessly as racist why can't we just enjoy the music and artist we enjoy and not claim art as for only one race or another if you want racism and bigotry to die then just enjoy your life and stop complaining when someone different than you finds success just my thoughts support your fellow humans
