you have equipment problems, your previous videos i thought you just couldn't shoot , with a better rest your doing much better, , add some weight to the sled, and bolt some 3/4 inch plywood to the top of your bench, im watching the end of the bbl go up and down. when you get on the weapon. and 1-10 bbls love 180's.

Edited: Honestly, I've stopped paying so much attention to SD numbers when shooting 3 or 5 shot groups. I've shot loads that group very nice but have SD numbers in the 20's. Your results kind of mirror this also, It may be due to inaccuracies with the chronograph. If I do want to collect accurate ES/SD, I will shoot a 10 shot group, eliminate any obvious odd High or low velocities, and only evaluate the core of the group. Great video, looking forward to more in this series!
@xxshiftlockxx2 күн бұрын
If you don't mind me asking, to produce statistically meaningful data shouldn't you include all shots in a given group? That's not to say random high and low shots don't happen, but in a long enough string 1 shot that's off really only has an effect on the ES, but not so much the SD. Yes random anomalies do happen so I'm most definitely not discounting that. In lower strings SD would be more statistically meaningful vs ES, as it's the likelihood of where the majority of the shots in a string will land. I've had several groups with strings of 10-20 that have had a really high ES due to the random flyer, however the SD was still single digits due the majority falling within that range. Also as far as inaccuracies with the chronograph goes, he's using the Garmin Xero. That's the best chronograph on the market. If it can't be trusted, then literally nothing can.
@21psd2 күн бұрын
@@xxshiftlockxx I think in part, I don't completely understand how the SD is calculated. I used to try and get those really low numbers but didn't see the correlation on the targets. And many times my older Chrony would show an extremely high or low velocity for a shot, but there was no vertical stringing on the target to support it. And I am a decent shooter using accurately charged handloads. Now I realize my Chrony is old tech so I do expect inaccuracies with it. But I see the same thing occurring for other shooters. For instance, at 7:08 in this video, shot #3 had the highest velocity within the string of 2803 fps, but it was the lowest shot on target of that group. I just don't get it.

I’ve never checked it but you should have more capacity with star line that LC. Military brass is thicker usually.

Why don't you let the barrel cool between shots?
@BaldGuysWithGuns7 күн бұрын
We do after about 3 to 5 shots. It depends how hot the barrel feels. There are cuts in the video. We edit out us waiting for the barrel to cool.

either lower your front and/or raise rear bag to "lock" everything in.... we can see you having to raise the rear up & down every shot. Also probably wouldn't hurt to run a bore brush thru in between groups during testing phase. If not correct powder charge, lots of fouling can be left in barrel...especially when using a suppressor.

@BaldGuysWithGuns16 күн бұрын
No videos on that specifically, but I did shoot with both and I saw no change. I actually have the gen 2 in 308 and opted to leave the stock chassis on it because of weight for hunting. Accuracy didn't seem to change on either gun swapping out the chassis.

I have a 300blk Christensen Arms bolt action pistol. 7.5" barrel. I wish the barrel was slightly longer. I have a Deadair Sandman S on it, the difference between supers and subs is huge. But it's a bolt action.... I really want a semi auto. They are a little quieter. Was looking at the SIG MCX's... But they are damn expensive and kinda hard to find

Great video! Another handy tool that I use to quickly check headspace and case length, is a Lyman 223 Rem Case Gauge. I also use it in the end after I finish reloading a batch of cartridges to check overall uniformity by dropping each cartridge into it. Sometimes when the rims become dinged during reloading or from the rifles extractor, they can be deburred by inserting the cartridge into the gauge backwards and then turning it in the gauge like a deburring tool. Very useful tool to have!!
@cervus-venator16 күн бұрын
Thanks for the video. I was hoping you were going to do some ladder testing, but with the LC brass I suppose there is no need at this time. The 223 is a good cartridge to start the reloading journey with. I have the dies, but have never reloaded any 223 as I've found that the off the shelf (plinking) ammo is cheap enough. However, I may start reloading for this in order to get an accurate target round since I like shooting my Ruger Ranch like a target rifle. Thanks again.

No knock to you guys but that seems to pretty much be a 7-08 AI. The entire premise of an AI is blown out case for less taper and bump shoulder to 40 degrees allowing for higher case capacity and more efficient burn. While it may not be exact specs to an AI there’s not enough difference IMO. Run a 280AI or a 7 SAUM and you get the same results without all the extra unnecessary hoopla of the “latest greatest”
