I spend a lot of money on this "hobby", and rarely get the same smile anymore that you two do after a hit at distance. Keep up the good work, and I hope that you continue to have a blast doing it.

It's definitely a passion for us. Maybe since we are new to long range precision we have a honeymoon phase, but it always makes me smile to think about how far I just shot and hit especially when the target is small. MOA size targets all the time is the goal.

Finally someone does something with my favourite rifle model 70 . One of the best rifles ever produced and nobody seems to review them . Just all the newer guns . I just bought an extreme weather in 30-06 . Shoots the 180g accubond hand loads a .5” 3 shot group .

I would agree. This is such a great model. It was built so well. We try to incorporate all types of guns on our channel and these old models are built very sturdy. That’s an awesome grouping especially with the 30-06. That’s my favorite big game caliber.

For shooting with factory ammo, a warm barrel and off a bipod these are excellent groups! I own five of these current model 70's in featherweight, Super Grade and in Extreme Weather. My only grip with this rifle is the MOA trigger. In the featherweight the triggers can go down to at least 3lbs. In the Extreme Weather 5lbs is the best I can get them using the MOA settings. That said they are accurate rifles as you have demonstrated. Thanks for sharing!

I bought an M70 fwt in the early to mid 1980s. Beautiful wood and blue but would hardly put 5 on a paper plate at 100yards. Had a gunnsmith rebed the action and tried a pillar with no improvement. Another gunsmith didn’t even look at it but told me to take the front action screw just to snug. It has done 1.5” ever since with the first shot on a cold barrel spot on. They heat up and start walking real easy.

This one does well, but yes very thin barrel heats up quick

That's awesome guys! A great hunting rifle for sure. I loved the 500 yard shots too. I like how Rob got you use Jeromy's DOPE to get that 1st shot hit. Of course, I would have done the exact same thing, but no guarantees I would have hit the plate. Great videos guys. Keep them coming.

I would never use Jeromy's dope like that! Lol. I'll take whatever advantage I can. Always competing

That’s something I’ve been told since starting this channel. It’s an old habit that is hard to break.

Fun video with one of my favorite rifle models. I think the 243 is a top five cartridge and everyone should own one. Where do you guys live?
@BaldGuysWithGuns5 ай бұрын
We live in Utah in the Salt Lake Valley. We enjoy the 243. Great round, fun gun.

Last time I checked. Nikon’s spot on ballistics calculator site was still online. It’s a pretty good guide for long range shots.

Ok boys your scope needs replaced.... Note when you shot at the bottom your spread was more for both of you.... And at the top you both did better... And yes the scope is ok to hunt but not for grouping

Appreciate your comment. Two points to make here. 1 it's kind of the point of the video. To see what a rifle set up for hunting is capable of even in the hands of novices with the ammo and scope that is used to hunt with. 2 it's dad's gun not ours. We shot it the way he has it and didn't want to change anything on him. This is kinda what we do here. We shoot what we have or have access to and we shoot it how it's set up and with what we can afford.

I want this gun

If I may suggest, your description if the scope should have said, a Nikon 3 to 9 power with a 40mm objective lense. I am attempting to offer a simple statement to help you improve the content of your future videos. Sincerely, Dave & The Girls

Great suggestion. I can get excited and forgetful when explaining. I’ll make sure to watch that in future vids!

Are you sure the rifle ismt a Model 70 Carbine? I have the same rifle woth same length barrell, well mimes 20in. Anyway, its a Carbine model that was produced in early 80s and maby started late 70s, not sure on that. Either way, i hunt with it every year and its a shooter and a fine rifle.
@BaldGuysWithGuns2 ай бұрын
Honestly, we don't know if this is a Carbine model or not. It is Jeromy's dad's gun and we don't have any of the original paperwork. We know the barrel says model 70 on it. Haha
@countschad13 күн бұрын
Why don't you let the barrel cool between shots?
@BaldGuysWithGuns13 күн бұрын
We do after about 3 to 5 shots. It depends how hot the barrel feels. There are cuts in the video. We edit out us waiting for the barrel to cool.

Interesting shooting bench. There’s no room for your arm to rest on

It's the Caldwell stable table. It's actually pretty good for it's price, but it's price is why we have it. Got to get the channel bigger before we can afford nice stuff.

Hi , with the 500 yard shooting , what size gong was that ? I'm just trying to get an idea of the sight picture from a 9 power scope. Kind regards
@BaldGuysWithGuns5 ай бұрын
It was a 12 inch plate.

You could have used better ammo reloading your self would be better
@BaldGuysWithGuns2 ай бұрын
I agree reloading provides the best consistency and accuracy. However, this was my father’s rifle using ammo he uses. This gun is shot only when young kids are getting into hunting. Not shot enough for reloading.
