I had an '86 SE with T-tops. They used to fit perfectly behind the seats with the T-top handle on the top side. To this day, it was the best open air experience I've had. Not too much or too little air flow. The '88 had the much better Getrag 5-speed manual paired with the V6.

Awesome《☆》It's interesting how the pistons have 4 Valve reliefs. I think it served 2 purposes. 1 to lower the compression & 2 would allow for the pistons to be rotated 180° at installation. Mopar didn't offer any 4 valve heads back then. I think Toyota & Honda were making 4 valve Hemi heads for cars & motorcycles in the late 60s early 70s. 273 is a Great under appreciated engine✌🏼😎☯️

@@kermitefrog64 if you decide to go with the progression ignition system, it will work just fine and honestly, I found it to be much more reliable than the Petronix unit. It’s a bit more expensive, but far more adaptable and easier to customize when you understand the concept.

Well here’s the kicker, that car had dang old 225 six cylinder with 3 speed manual on the column, not a muscle car at all, but it dam sure looked good . Handled like it was on rails. Traded it in on a new 91 Talon TSi AWD--which was also a blast and probably better in almost every way. I miss driving them both . . . but the Fiero was a ball since it was my first actual sports car.

I just installed the progression ignition on my 77 Corvette. I had it running really smooth when it was warm and then I started it a couple of days later and it seems to have too much advance, can you tell me more about how you set up your cold tables? Less advance? Increased idle with the choked engaged. Thank you for any advice you can give me!
@tailsfromthejunkyard10237 ай бұрын
Of course, it really depends on what kind of cam, compression, and initial timing your engine is setup. But rule of thumb is anywhere from 7 to 10 degrees of initial timing for cold start, with choke closed and rpm set to about 800 rpm, after a couple of minutes, you should be able to run your normal timing settings that you’ve tuned your car for. Please let me know if this helps.
@davidhansen72157 ай бұрын
@@tailsfromthejunkyard1023 I do have a more aggressive cam with only 10hg of vacuum. My high idle when the choke is actuated is much higher than the normal 750 rpm I have it set at, should I turn the high idle down?
@tailsfromthejunkyard10237 ай бұрын
@@davidhansen7215 750 is ok but you want to aim between 680 and 750, somewhere around 725 is ideal
@tailsfromthejunkyard10237 ай бұрын
@@davidhansen7215 also remember that with a more aggressive cam you’re going to need a bit more timing between 2 and 3 degrees more. And the rpm might need to be set a little higher if it’s a manual transmission car

I have the newer version, the Atomic 2 and I cannot praise that enough. One of the things that I'm glad they kept when they went to the newer version was the boosters in the middle that help keep that carburetor look. As far as I know this is the only system that uses the boosters in the middle of the venturies. As far as the ECU being on the side of the throttle body now, I've actually worked on the vehicle after it's been running and at no point did I ever feel like the side of the throttle body was hot. I think with the constant airflow thru the TB and massive amount of fuel flowing through it, it stays cool, because with the new design you have to have a return line so you constantly have fuel flowing through the throttle body. I haven't watched them yet, but I see you have a couple of videos up about the Progression Ignition. That's actually what drew me to your channel, and that's also going to be my next purchase. I'm going to be running a Edelbrock eForce 122 and I love the fact that the Progression system has a MAP sensor and will allow you to retard the timing curve according to boost pressure. ❤ MSD offers an ignition box that does that, too, but they want $700 just for that ignition box, not including the coil and not including the distributor. Since I have limited clearance for the supercharger I can't run an HEI and the only MSD distributor they offer that's compatible with the 6-BTM is the 8750 which is their pro billet distributor. That's another $450. F*kk that! I'll go with the Progression system.
