By no means is this an unbiased documentary video. The participants of the events speak for themselves, and it's great that the opinions of all sides are given. And that would have been enough. But the author's comments, just like in the previous movie in this series, are obviously biased. The author of the movie gives an unequivocal assessment of Milosevic only, but fails to assess by what right did the Americans bomb another country? How much did the hypothetical threat of ethnic cleansing cost the real lives of more than 1,000 serbian civilians? How to treat the CIA's training of the KLA committing terrorist acts? What about the undisguised interference in elections by US “non-governmental” organizations, Albright and the CIA?

The way Britain treated Ireland for 800 years without devicing a creative policy for its neighbor, showed a predatory and caste plunder of its future overseas possessions which characterized it. I didn't use the word Empire on purpose. FDR was right.

At one point Rhodesia was offered, by Jan Smuts, an option to join South Africa. That choice cast the dii. And here we are- with an oppressed Zimbabwe, ruled by thugs, very far from free. And for that, we mainly have the Chinese and Russian Commies to thank. R.I.P Ian Smith [You were the real freedom fighter]

Very informative. This really was one of the biggest blunders of the West in the 20th century. Instead of accepting the facts concerning new African nations that had gained independence and accepting a gradual shift in power in Rhodesia, the West quite simply pushed the new Zimbabwe on a platter towards communist rule. Everywhere else, in fact globally, the West went in the *opposite* direction.

The comments by Arthur Snelling @2:20 sum up how various ignorant UK politicians and civil servants, from both Labour and conservative viewed the Rhodesia situation. Who has history vindicated? - Smith of course. And how ironic is the situation today in Britian. With Britian in terminal decline, by the very script written for Rhodesia 50 years ago. Treacherous politicians threw Rhodesia under the bus and now do the same to their own country.

They even made the point that they wanted responsible, educated government and they knew you couldn't take tribes in a still in a relative iron-age standard of development through 2000 years of development within a few short years because they knew that tribalism would still come to the fore to back the strongest warlord (as indeed it did).

One of the interesting insights was that of Jinnah and I’m paraphrasing; “You British are interesting people and when it comes to administrating and running a country you are extremely good, but you seem to think that you can unite a people into a coherent society, the devisions that you want to avoid have always been there and always will” This is the problem with multi ethnic states. To maintain stability you need an authoritarian regime to maintain order. The British were indeed that, they were certainly not as brutal as other European countries in this regard. Certainly not as brutal as the French, Belgians, and Spanish. Once the British lost their grip you could see what Jinnah was alluding to, the old animus reared its ugly head, and boy did it. The ethnic/religious internecine violence was horrific. We saw this decades later in Europe when Tito died and Yugoslavia descended into similar violence. Food for thought for the British, French, Belgians and Dutch. All those countries leaders in their infinite wisdoms have transformed their countries into multi ethnic and multicultural religious societies. What could go wrong? In the case of Britain with its huge Hindu and Muslim communities they have imported the problems seen in this documentary into their own country. So for any Indian reading this, the British didn’t “get away with it” not one bit. In fact we are now seeing a more authoritarian approach in Britain emerge to rule over a more complex and volatile society. The Empire has and will end up destroying Britain as the forces that decolonisation unleashed, political, economic, social and cultural overwhelm her. Now some Indians may rejoice at that fact but remember this; as India continues its accent to world power status (maybe the world power) you too will make serious mistakes like the great powers of the past; and you will find, it’s a damn sight easier having moral authority as a subjugated people than it is when you actually steer the course of human history. Britain at one time did steer the course of human history by inventing modernity (something it gets no credit for) and if you consider her time as the worlds most powerful country, on the balance I would have rather lived under her rule than any other. Including the soon to be defunct United States of America. Next up is China… Let’s see if people enjoy this next era of global order making as much as they think they will, finally free from the clutches of the evil white man.

Very informative documentary, however, Makarios' stance towards ENOSIS and Turkish Cypriots changed in the 70s hence the Greece-backed coup that overthrew him and replaced him with Nikos Sampson, a fascist, that led to Turkey's intervention. General Grivas and Nikos Sampson are what led to the situation today in Cyprus that the world blames Turkey for. Also, the documentary conveniently leaves out that the Cyprus army (Greek Cypriots) attacked and murdered Turkish Cypriot civilians in the 1960s, some of whom are still missing.

One good job Indira Gandhi did was to stop privy purses of indian royalty, who were no more than door mats for the british in india. Even tribal leaders of Afghanistan were more patriotic than these Indian bootlickers. These Afghan tribal leaders joined their people to throw out the imperialists. Our leaders polished shoes of british officers in India.
