I have Dupuytren (65) with, thanks to this video, a bit of Ledderhose. I play the flute and I'm a massage therapist. I think it has stopped progressing. I have been using red/infrared low-level laser light therapy (photobiomodulation) and I eat a very low-carb diet (minus beer🙄). I just started using DMSO cream as well. My mom had Duputren and needed surgery. Massage keeps my hands stretched, but I notice that I have to be extra conscious to keep my fingers from partially closing a key on my flute. Now I have an excuse for wrong notes!

😀😀😀😀👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you, Dr. Eaton for your most informative presentation! My pinky (left hand) is at 4:00 O'clock. First noticed Jan. 2011 (14 years ago) I'm 76 yrs old and have just let it progress as it's not on my dominant hand and without any pain. My mother had lumps removed from her left hand. Her mother was from Denmark. See a specialist?

I did a lot of cloth wringing over the years due to cleaning. Maybe this promoted it. I also seem to have problems with foot arches. Super super high arches. Will research ledderhose next. Thanks so much for this tutorial!

I just watched a video before this one with a doctor in Canada saying there is not verifiable connection with the disease and alcohol, smoking and diabetes.

I started getting it in my right hand, still have very good movement but it is painful and bothers me when I lift weights. I found out my family comes from the Basque Country (Northern Spain) but other than that not sure how I would end up with a "Viking" issue.

Botox injections should be tried , followed by regular ultrasound to keep tendons flexible , collagen supplements .

44:24 unfortunately many health funds pay only the first surgery. A repeat surgery would be fully funded by the patient.

My neighbor and I both same age late 70s-early 80s are descendents from NM onates' colonial Hisp surnamed Spanish. We both have what you described...but she is really bent at right angles on less dominant side of her hand. I am now presenting with D-band on lt side of my palm between little and ring finger...no pain, yet sometimes I wake up with a stiffening of the fingers like trying to "claw." The nodules are very slight on rt hand. Last year, I fell for the first time and broke my carpals lt hand (fell forward, lt hand stretched out)..and did not do surgery...the main symptom I had from that was like a "sparking" of sharp, electrical pulses for about 5 months that eventually went away and after that, I begin more stiffening of the hand at times after sleeping...but NO pain. I think it's been about 5 years or so that I had first begun to notice the nodules and very minor bands, across the palms, but still had all mobility. This year 2024 has been a progression, compared to last five. Thank U for your detailed information and encouragement. My mat gr-grandma had the conditions as u described and my mom n grandma died before age 60. Sometimes, I wake up unmoveably stiff lt hand...I have been and will continue to stretch and press and pull exercising...I will remember to also use a brace as needed.

I’ve had symptoms for about a year, I’m 66 years old. There are three nodules below the ring finger, Dupuytren pit above main nodule. Little bending at this point. Is there any evidence daily massage of the nodules and wearing a splint at night will slow the progression of the disease?

I am of African American decent and at age 47, my DNA resulted in over 10% European (Scottish/Irish). Now at age 49, Dupuytrens (aka Vikings Disease) reared its ugly head.

Thanks. There are so many others outside the group's you describe as those at risk. Something just speed up the weakening of the tendons, then something must mutate that cause the lumpies.

I would be interested in participating in some sort of research for you. My mom had to return contractor and I have pictures of the conditions of both of her hands she had surgery one time and it came back again. Now I have to return contracture and I am trying to do some counter stretching I have a contraption that I bought that I put on that pulls my fingers backwards to stretch and I'm hoping that that will counter the pulling that goes in the opposite direction. I prefer not to have injections and surgery so hopefully this will help I'm still able to put my whole Palm down on the table but I can definitely feel the pulling and I can see the nodules on my hand

That looks so painful and scary. Question: If you are dissecting the tendons in question, how is the patient able to make a fist and release after procedure? It seems not likely, to me.

I had a Football catch in my early 20s where the Football was thrown too hard at me & jammed my pinky or so I thought. Tremendous pain for days & once the pain sufficed I had a Pinky bent at both knuckle joints unable to move so now assumed I broke my pinky. Fast forward & I am now 46 diagnosed w/ Dupuytren cuz I went in for my Pinky I neglected but after years of manual labor I had Cords while I know all of the above are Injuries cuz a Football cannot carry Diseases.

I agree 💯 w/ the Hypothesis cuz I know I did NOT wake up w/ Dupuytren but rather instead Injured my hands in my early 20s and then furthermore into Adulthood

Cholesterol is a biomarker for commercial opportunity - not disease. There will be no medication for Dupuytren's until someone figures out how to monetise it.

I have the signature lumps on the palm and one being closer under the knuckle. I tend to stretch it before bedtime and after I wake up. I know in time i will probably have to see a medical professional in the future. However, the stretching of the fingers help me significantly.
Radiation treatment? Xrays Since 1933. Started in Germany. Look into it.
@riffmondo97337 ай бұрын
No mention of radiation treatment?! Surgeons like to cut. It is what they know. If you need to keep the dexterity in your hands the sugery will not help. The enzymes are terribly expensive and have to be repeated. Also they can be risky as well. Look into radiation and you will see another option that may save your hand’s dexterity.

I've got this in both hands,I've had one operation on each hand and didn't work , now I'm in so much pain and I can't perform my job properly and I'm having trouble holding on to my job. If you have it as bad as me it's a disability, I can't wash my face as I can't cup water in my hands, if I wash my hair it gets tangled around my fingers. I can't open things I drop things , if I open a door and let go I'm still stuck to the handle and have to pull my fingers off the handle. It is horrible. People at work don't believe me and say oh just get on with it, this isn't the case and causes me lots of stress. You have to learn how to adapt to every day life the best way you can, take in mind it will take you twice as long so you also have to learn to be patience .

Yes, painful tightness in my palms, fingers, wrists, forearms. Started in the middle of my palm and my fingers swelled up & became stiff. I think the fascia became inflamed and is pulling on the ligaments, tendons and muscles upstream and down. Anyone else?

Clumsiness in picking up Mahjong tiles and dropping them. Also when preparing food in the kitchen. Clipping a dog lead on or releasing. Movements when holding a cleaning cloth are painful. Pressing large door entry buttons is painful. Opening jars and bottles difficult. Vibration from holding the steering handles of a mobility scooter on bumpy paths may worsen the condition. Use a foam absorption layer and thick gloves.

I have been struggling with this disease since 1995 as a 21 year old. I believe trauma was my trigger, In 95 my right hand was affected and it was never apparent until I was ran over and slammed in-between two cars breaking my arm and impacting my hand. Two or three weeks later I immediately formed lumps in my hand and my fingers started to twist and pull in. I had went 15+ years before having the surgery. Fast forward to 2014 I got into a motorcycle accident that crushed my collar bone, shoulder blade, vertebrae extensive damage to left side and hand, a few weeks later I got those lumps in my left hand and started to distort my fingers and pull them in. Since to date I have had 5 surgeries on each hand. My last surgery was on 12/27/2023 on my right hand. I firmly believe DRs know squat about this disease.
