8:18 I feel like with misery it has to be read fast to enjoy it I read it in a day loved it and recommend it to a friend who took 3 days to read it and he didn’t enjoy it nearly as much because he said it was too slow

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon - my friend borrowed it from the library and it sat about so I picked it up - read it three times back to back - that book hit me like a brick for some reason - I just reread it last week - twenty years after that first read. It held up well. Rose Madder - read it back in the day then again a reread two weeks back - turned around and reread it a day later. Though, the difference is that back then I read a physical book - this time audiobooks for both.

I love Holly as a character but this book kept taking me out of the story with the non-stop over the top political stuff. Writers shouldn’t use their fictional creations to preach their personal views in such over ways. It ruins the books. I would have enjoyed it so much more if I wasn’t constantly taken out of it. We get it Stephen, “orange man bad”.

I used to love King`s books. However, since he started with the anti Trump preaching, I don`t read him anymore. I just want a book to escape from reality into, I don`t want politics in my novels for that reason. He seems to forget half his readers might be Trump supporters. I don`t want to hear Democrat or Republic bashing, just write the damm book the way you used to years ago. Ex King fan.

I actually loved it. Everybody complaining about the political aspect. We just had the pandemic and it was insanely political. Stephen has never shied away from his views. I think it adds a realness to the book about a time period we lived through. I haven’t really read a book willing to delve so deep into Covid and intertwine it into the storyline where it’s not the main aspect of the story but rather just the reality of the time period that was extremely political. If he writes something else that just bashes Trump nonstop I may say tone it down, Stephen but just coming out of a global pandemic I wasn’t too bothered by it in the book and even made me remember back during that time myself.

I was excited to see your list, but when Duma Key made it somewhere in the top I have to question your judgement LOL. I live near where this is set (King has a house on Casey Key in Sarasota County) and was so excited about it. The book was mostly fantastic, but the end had me through it across the room. A complete nothing burger of an ending. Thought King had finally lost his touch.

Ok now I'm sure of it because the idea of rating dreamcatcher as number 20 is tommyknockers level insanity. This list makes no sense

Im convinced this dude has not read a huge portion of these books. A good example is because he describes the dark half is boring which is funny considering the first half of the book is George Stark going on a straight up murder spree

Thank you so much for this list! I am a brand new reader of Stephen King. I just bought some of the audiobooks and ultimate goal is The Dark Tower for sure. However I’m lookijg for a light enterance. I have been thinking to start with Salem’s lot. Can I read it as stand alone, or should I read it as part of The Dark Tower extension?

Love Wizard and Glass at #1. I fell in love with the Dark Tower overnight, and read the 1st three books in about a week. Wizard and Glass blew my mind tho. I couldn't believe nobody had a made a movie out of this yet. Hopefully the Mike Flanagan project can do it justice...

The best part of the book was the first chapter. Fell apart after that. It's no different than the exhaustion and annoyance of Hollywood throwing idealistic and political bents onto every movie. Either die a legend or live long enough to see yourself become an ideolog.

Hey Jimmy, I always wondered, you're a big reader, but what scares you. I think it would be a cool video of showing like your top 10 scariest books you've ever read. Book that genuinely freaked you out, forced you to stop reading at night. Things like that. Awesome videos as always man!

There was a time in the mid 90s when I had already read all his books(found most in thrift shops for a dime a piece). I was surprised to see a new novel in the store and was surprised to see he was still writing. I had not yet realized how prolific he was to going to prove himself. My fave is the first three Dark Tower books. I really enjoyed The Dark Half, it's been 15 years though.

My personal top 5: 5. Salem's lot: incredibly creepy, the slow burn and the development of the town as a character is awesome. I love the character of Father Callahan in particular and the way the book starts off is great. 4. Misery: very tense and difficult to read. I love learning about Annie's past, and again great characters. 3. Revival: i love the way that King sets up the later ideas of the novel at the start, and how we get a charming slice of life for most of the book, with little reminders of this early warning interspersed. The characters are maybe the best in this of any novel he's written, and it is his (imo) second scariest. The way a relatively happy novel devolves into horror as the protagonist ages is so effective. 2. 11/22/63: just electrifying. In particular, the first 250 pages were so tense. The world feels so alive and textured. The story was also so tight and well crafted. The central relationship is very charming and tragic at the same time. 1. Pet Semetary: this book is so well written it's not even funny. One of maybe 4 or 5 King books that has actually scared me, and this more than the others by orders of magnitude. So desperately sad and bleak and haunting. The terror feels inevitable. Also one scene in particular with Timmy Baterman is the scariest thing I've ever read. Top 3 book all time.

The Talisman is my favourite book ever.. Before I read the Dark tower- i suspected & desperately hoped the Main character from The Talisman(& Blackhouse) grew up to be the Gunslinger... I am still a little disappointed this isn’t the case. Missed op iyam... (What characters in Salem's are in the dark tower? 🤔)

An amazing book. Even though it is not my favorite of the Stephen King novels (it still ranks high though), Billy became my favorite character King ever created. I don't remember the last time I felt such compassion and pain for a character. A must read.
