I was one of the people suggesting The Cabin at the End of the World, and I was thrilled to see this pop up. The ending worked for me more than it did for you, but otherwise I totally agree with your thoughts -- it's almost TOO effective in how it unsettles you, to the point that it's not a fun and scary reading experience but just straight-up disturbing. I think it might work even better for a reader who doesn't think they like horror novels. Regardless, really happy to see your thoughts on that and the other novels -- looking forward to getting to Usher's Passing. I really appreciate your sincere, thoughtful and down-to-earth approach to this stuff, man. Keep up the great work.

Nice to see you post another video. I really appreciate your reviews and you got me wanting to go back to Dean Koontz again. I just reread Insensity. I haven't read that since I was 18 back 1999 and it was still incredible as I remembered. Never feel the need to post right away. Your loyal subscribers will wait for you.

Greetings from England, Jimmy. Really enjoy your channel. Since you have a number of collectable editions, have you ever tried to add Curtis Richards, original Halloween ( 1978 ) tie-in novel, which expands Michael's mythology, to your collection? It seems a very rare book, going for £500 or more.

Heyya! Agreed on the ending of The Cabin at the end of the World! I really enjoyed that one too and I do like an ambiguous ending I just didn't know if I'd like a less ambiguous ending more in that case haha - have you heard that M. Night Shyamalan is doing an adaptation of it!? I'm curious what his take on the ending will be
@jimmymango2 жыл бұрын
I did hear that yeah! I like Shyamalan so I think he could be a great fit. But yeah I’m hoping he leaves us with just a little more clarity. I agree with you I’m usually a fan of endings that are open to interpretation but I just thought this one we were owed a little more.

I'm planning on reading Boy's Life soon, have only read Swan Song by Mccammon, which I enjoyed. Ilium sounds interesting, I have read Carrion Comfort and Summer Of Night by Dan Simmons and liked both. Also have The Terror and Hyperion on my Kindle to read. Just finished reading The Chestnut Man, which you recommend in one of your previous videos and thought it was very good.
@jimmymango2 жыл бұрын
Rebecca, I would recommend reading the Hyperion series from Dan Simmons over Ilium. I thoroughly enjoyed all of those books.

I missed u! But I’ve kept reading, and I am now on the second to last book of the extended Dark Tower read(your list)! I know you said you liked Song of Susannah the least of the Dark Tower, and yeah that might ring true for me as well, but I still really like it! Robert McCammon is amazing. I love Boy's Life so much, will have to get to the others.Have seen many people talk about the cabin book, but I feel it's a hype now, and that usually doesn't get me excited. And even though I like old Koontz, I think the Odd Thomas series is where it all went down hill. I really don't like those books at all.

Hey Jimmy! I very recently got into reading as a whole, and right now I'm very into the fantasy genre, but I've been interested in delving into Stephen King books and I picked Rage as my first King and unfortunately I didn't like Rage that much, do you have any recommendations on where to start with King for someone like me? (I thought maybe starting with The Dark Tower series but right now I'm finishing the Gentleman Bastard series and I would like to read some stand-alones before I get back into another series) Love your content btw!
@jimmymango2 жыл бұрын
Try some of his earlier more popular novels. Maybe Salems Lot or Pet Sematary. They are definitely not fantasy though…both of those are straight horror. If you are looking for a fantasy novel by King try The Talisman or Eyes of the Dragon.
