You complain about how bad the front looks. The grill and lights were one of the issues that make the car look bad. The Toyota Camry from this year looked very similar, and was not any better. Most sedans from 1998 looked like the front of the Malibu. I did own a 1999 Malibu, and ended up trading it in for a brand new Impala LS because I wanted more room, a cruise control, and a cd player. The Impala was more comfortable to sit in on vacation drives. The Impala also glided down the highway on long drives. The Impala for some reason also delivered better fuel economy.

It's still a Fiat which as a manufacturer ranks 30 out of 32 for reliability. If I could get one super cheap it would be fun to mess with in the twistes but too small for a daily and a 2012 with 100k are still asking over 10 grand. No thanks. I'd rather get an ST for that money. 100 more hp and much better reliability.

I bought mine in left over model in 14! Mine came with 19' rims. I was disappointed in this yrs model 13, they designed excessive cabin room to rear seat room. The problem I'm haven't right now 10 yrs later being I always removed leaves dirt from the cowl & sun roof tracks & with a hard rain storm the roofs draining hoses on each side are blocked by a poorly design floor in the back of the dashboard 2 diaphragms 1 on each side connected to the sunroof drainage which are clogged and rain poor's into my front cabin everytime . Now the appalling part is this first storm wiped out my all time around camera viewings including reverse cam with all rhe around sonar . I have no eyes parking effects my birdseye viewing on my navigation . I'm m in the process to by pass the diaphragms with cutting into the stock vacuum hose adding 2 T fittings & couple barbs. It would have worked properly except after I improvised left side clear 3,/8 cutting adding barbs and fuel line except for the hard work to run the left side drain hose inside the dash carefully not to route it where it would effect stoplight cruisecontol added thec2'T fittings for the right side revised drainage hose splicing them both into the A.C. drain hose the drivers side leaked water for I found the other clear vacuum hose disconnected from the other end somewhere going under the ceiling headliner to the left side sun roof hole port where it must connect a somewhere. So I started to remove the headliner outside in the rain and cold. IM UPSET THAT INFINITY NRE ABOUT THE OVEREHELMING CALLD FROM CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE FIDCACREVALL ON ALK THESE CARD EITH T,HAT SHITTY DESIGN FLOOR IN THE DIAPHRAGM S. WHEN IM GINIDHRD IM TAKING THIS CARCTO INFINITY IF ENGLEWOOD IN NEW JERSEY AND DEMAND THAT MY ALL AROUND VIEWER ECM AND WIRING THAT GOT FRSTROYED FROM THE 2' WATER IN MY DRIVERS FLOOR ABD UND THE SEAT WHERE THE ECM FOR THE CAMERS. IS. BEING A MECHANIC I DID AN ONBOARD P.C DISGNOSTIC WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS A BROKEN LINE GOING FROM THE IMAGE VIEWER THE DONAR TO ALL THE CAMERADS . I ONCE PRAISED INFINITY OVER LEXUS BUT NO MORE.

@HomeyDepotАй бұрын
Leak is most likely coming from the sunroof drain lines / hoses. Use an electrical fish line or a log drain line brush. Tape of the jagged end and gently run it through drain holes. Make sure the water is draining outside. You make have to pull the headliner and side pillars to check the hoses and connections.

I have a malibu from 99. The biggest issue with it was the faulty anti theft feature that would refuse to start the car, causing me to have to wait around 10 minutes to try again. It was kept in good condition so other than that, it is quite good for a 24 year old car.

Haha, I had a 1998 Malibu LS it went through a lot from the previous owners who didnt take care of it. I tried to make it last but I ended having my engine completely die. However that thing was heavy and it did very well on a foot of snow without snow tires and chains I was impressed. It was my first car and it died in 2014. I strangely miss it if I had the moeney i would have swapped the engine and did some modifications but oh well.

I had a 1997 malibu with a 3.1 v6, it was fast as hell, 155 horsepower at 195 ft lbs of torque. I ran straight piped exhaust and a cold air intake on it that made it way more powerfull. I put 350,000 miles on till the transmission finally went out. It was a tank. Hands down one of the best cars of the 90s. These car had only one issue and that was the lower intake gasket has to be replaced every 100,000 miles. The dexcool coolant causes the gasket to break down sooner. That is the only issue with the 3.1 v6 and the only issue with the car.
@ericknoblauch91957 ай бұрын
Dexcool had nothing to do with the lower intake gasket failing. My father had the 3.1 V-6 in his Cavalier long before the Dexcool came out. His engine used the old green antifreeze. He still had to replace the lower intake gasket twice.
@vdubsterw25167 ай бұрын
@ericknoblauch9195 general motors had a lawsuit pending over it. and a recall on it. 1997 was the first year they switched to dexcool in the 3.1 motors and they had cars coming back in at 30,000 miles. i know this because my cousin worked at chevrolet and they used to scam customers on it. and tell them it was a head gasket issue. the gaskets had to be re designed with a newer material due to the corosive nature of the dexcool. you can look all this up online.
