Hey, sorry for the question not relate to this video but Im running into the same issue no matter what I do, so i thought to ask some help! I have a 76 shovelhead! Full rebuild (i think my problem is in the carb) i have a 70 main jet and intermediate i think is a 0.028!! So my problem is when im ridding my bike seams to be coughing, not when is stationary, not when im opening the throttle, only when im keeping speed! Not sure what could it be? (Straight pipes with some butterflies to help, s&s super E carb, with no filter)
@greasesgarage10 сағат бұрын
I would clean out the carb and both jets to be sure nothing is gumming them up. Stick a thin wire into the jet holes to remove any buildup. As for the coughing if that doesn’t fix it, as much as I hate to say it you may want to put a filter on to compare. I’ve seen the lack of filter cause that type of issue before

So I missed the total cost including the Fatboy? IMO hardtails are a waste when you can make a softtail look like a HT.
@greasesgarage10 сағат бұрын
3500 for the fat boy, but I disagree. When you cut the softail off and see how much stuff comes off it, and how much weight, I would never go back
@maxheadflow4 сағат бұрын
@@greasesgarage So how much weight comes off? Why not keep the weight and build the motor? Suspension is nice when you want to stuff the bike into a corner with a rough surface. Lower the tire pressure and it works better but then wobbles in the sweepers.

Just carb converted my '00 Road King. Save yourself a headache. I used the sifting 40 mm carb. All stock and aftermarket parts for the cv carb Harley uses works with it. It fired right up and haven't done any adjustments yet but it runs up and down the road beautifully. You also have to change out the ignition module

I would like to do this for my 89 FLHS. It has the original screamin eagle electronic ignition and living in Louisiana it's hot here and so the potting melting out of the unit . I think going to a points system would best for me. Although your video is spot on for what to do as for putting in the points and setting them up with the gap and timing but I am still not sure about wiring the coil witch is a two post duel fire going to a three post single fire. Do I keep the screamin eagle module or do I remove it and if I do then how do I wire all this up this is what I am not finding the answers to in all the conversion videos I have watched. In this case doing the job is the easy part finding the information to do the job now that's the hard part it seems so if you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it Thanks

Do you need that 30amp from the battery to the fuse block if you are using a capacitor instead?
@greasesgarage5 күн бұрын
Hmm, that’s a good question actually. I ran a capacitor on my xs650 but I’ve never seen one on a Harley. My thought would be that you’d still want one anyways because capacitors discharge very quickly and you’re using that fuse as a protection against overcharge

Incredibly helpful video. When I turn my fuel mix screw in (lean) the idle increases but it never stumbles. I can turn it all the way in to zero and the bike never cuts off. I down jetted all the way to 26.5/66.5 and it does the same. Right now its jetted at 31/74 it seems to have the best performance but I still cant figure out why im having that issue with the fuel mix screw. I have it set at 1 full turn out. Engine is a harley evo with 10:1 compression mild cam stock heads and exhaust

Thanks for sharing.

@@gilbertosampa8140 if this is your first build, I wouldn’t worry too much about what the “rules” of a chopper are. Build it how you like it, how you want it to be, and don’t sweat it if someone else says they don’t consider it to be a chopper
