use a 1x4 or 1x6 board with randomly drilled holes and use finishing nails. this can hold small nuts and bolts. after cleaning i use Krylon or rust-oleum matte clear coat this helps fasteners from rusting.

Hi, stumbled onto this super information channel. This is great! Not everyone knows how to time these motors. I knew a light or buzzer was needed and have assembled one now myself. I have what I think is a 71 250 Elan. No VIN plate. The ignition coil is under the flywheel. Your in Canada, do you have a recommended source for parts? Thank you

Do you have any part numbers for the gasket kit on this engine? I have a 68 247 that I want to reseal. Thanks for the videos!

Love the sound those old singles make. Question what happened to your Tillotson carb rebuild videos? I have referenced those videos many times.

I never knew what the middle reinforcement channels on the side of the tunnel were for, a drivers backrest! Never see this in any other videos or pictures, rare accessory

Never use those de-glazing hones on a 2 stroke, lol .. they are junk. If you want new rings to seal 100% true up the bore with a line hone, which will remove just enough material to get new rings to seal completely. Also test fit those rings with a back light .. any light comes through, the rings are junk or the wrong size (which happens frequently with new rings). There is really no sense in rebuilding a motor like this without getting the ring fit perfect.

Obviously alcohol involved....who else would put that much effort into restoring something just to beat the crap out of it?!

It will eventually shake itself and everything around it to death. That muffler never stood a chance.

Very great content, good video! I love these great engine maintenance videos! I used to sit back and watch my uncle work on his machines and his preventative maintenance, one was his Alpine 440. I loved looking through his maintenance manuals!

Great video that is one of the Rotax Engines I keep my eye out for. That is great wrench skills you got my respect!👍👍👍 I started out with my tundra 250 handme down with seized Engine for free. I love my daily driver 92 JagDlx440LT that I rebuilt. I changed tygon fuel lines throughout, cleaned out the debris, and replaced the fuel pump. My cousin did the clutch work, and lowered the gearing. I go logging alot towing a sled with my Machines. It's my 1st Cat and it got my respect!

I had that engine in my first sled...a 1967 Olympic. First failure was the intake side of the piston broke off taking a chuck of cylinder sleave with it . Second failure the cylinder cracked all the way around above the holdown nuts. I had to hold the cylinder down with one hand to limp it the last 2 mi. home! ...I replaced it with a highly modified 293 Sachs engine...and never had another issue! That was long ago...havn't had an issue with a Rotax since!

Excellent Video Series. With this 250 Type 247 engine being made from 1963 to I think 2006 and rated at only 12hp@5500rpm, a Performance upgrade video would be nice. Considering the 246 Blizzard Single was rated 29hp@????rpm.

I admire your work GaWajn. Did the 247 ever come stock with this roller clutch? Also, how did you polish it up like this?
@TheMuskokaman2 жыл бұрын
I had the exact same sled year make & model! Had a 292 Hirth in it & "SnoJet" embossed on the track that left an imprint in the snow wherever you went. A kind of "Sno Jet dude was here" thing. LOL One of the best machines I ever owned, right up there with my old '68 Olympic with a 335 rotax. I wish I still had both of them.

Some parts are detailed, other parts completely missing such as clutch alignment. I'd rather listen to directions than a banjo.
