A torque converter allows for slippage using fluid instead of burning up clutch material, however, along with the slippage comes drag and drag reduces fuel economy.

Great you came up for Northwest meet. You need to try and make it up to show south of Portland at Woodbury Drag Strip. It always happens weekend after Memorial Day. It also has been going on for forty years. Only problem is, it may interfere with mega VW events down your way. Would really like to show you my Gulf Blue rag top bug I’ve had for 45 years. Almost drove it up to NW meet but I 5 is scary since you’re either going 80 miles an hour or stuck in traffic going 10 miles an hour . We did attend Saturday show and it was great as always!

The squareback should be all the average person should need for most of daily needs. What do you one person driving a SUV or truck. I saw one old lady driving a Hyundai SUV. She has to be plus 75. Talk about overkill. The masses have fallen for big trucks and big SUV. Big is better. Big BMW SUV have gotten to big the have help assist to parallel park.

Hey, look at that… Real Westfalia hinges!😮. SO-02 is that the code for a sales flap bus, or is that for a high roof camper interior of some sort? Looks like a great show. I went one time back in the late 90s. Was there a 15 window deluxe with a full length boat on top? It was perfectly matched to the length of the bus and sat on the drip rails not on a rack. That bus used to be a fixture at all those PNW shows, but I haven’t seen it in many years . It’s amazing how good the interiors are on a lot of those PNW cars and buses, they don’t get roached out like down here in the heat.

Glad I could make it. It's a great show and very laid back and dog friendly(I'm the guy with the ausie that walks through the bkg). Kudos to the dealership for continuing to put this on. Just a steller effort by Jeff to build that bus. Yes, it's not a real back in the day OG Doormobile from the factory, but you can't get any closer. It's inspiring me to do the same thing to my '67 W/T SO42 tintop. So functional and more useful than an OG pop top SO42. Fantastic to see the debut of those amazing tents Alex and his crew are producing. They are really well done and though the Sunbrella fabric is not an "exact" replica it is very very close and about as good as you can get today. Additionally it will last longer than the original and is fade resistant. I guess this tent is not one of the new ones from Alex, but from Helmut out of CH Rep. Both are very nice and compared to $5k for an original canvas with no poles, they are a real value. Great interview (and camera work) as usual Eddy !

Great video. I never got the name of his shop. I have a 56 oval with the exact same motor built by Brothers as well. Those guys are the kings IMO when it comes to building g VW motors. Have said that it has sat for about 6 years and I am trying to get it running again. I would love to bring it to his shop for him to look at it. Thanks

I have a 74 super that was originally an auto stick that a previous owner converted (poorly) to manual. I wish they had left it alone. I feel the same way about the 75 and up fuel injection beetles. I'd love to have one, but it seems all of them were disabled and swapped to carburetion. The fuel injection system isn't wildly complicated, it's just unfortunate they found their way into the hands of someone that didn't know what they were doing...

My dad had a 52 standard. Hoffman car. But he put a radio out of a preA Porsche in it. It's Tan colored. You ever find it please someone let me know. I know it was on TV back in the early 2000s, and on Old Bug a while ago. All this happening after he sold it in the 90s.
