Any old car can be "saved" i mean look at these guys building an entire new Mopar around an original vin plate. There comes a time when you got to ask "is it worth saving". Nowdays the only vehicles that should get passed by are the complete rust buckets, rusted past the door handles. Major frame/unibody collision damage really sucks too. Stripped down cars can often be a bonus, especially if building a race car where everything is getting gutted out and changed anyhow.

I have a 13 Boss 302 and as much as I hate seeing one wrecked or parted out, I know it just helps the value of the good ones later down the road. Unfortunately I don't think a car like mine will be super valuable just because there are so many that were bought by guys with disposable income and parked under a cover in the garage hoping to cash in like the guy who went against the grain and parked his 69 Boss 302 instead of beating the hell out of it. The reason the older cars are valuable is because they were used and abused, not collected.

@@bryanmulligan5319 very true ,back then not many of them were seen as collectibles and more as daily driven cars. The few that were put away are the ones that are worth the big money now. In 1987 i wanted a GN Buick so badly but couldn't afford it fresh out of high school. About 4 years later i found one with only 2400 miles, still had the yellow markings on the tires. Paid $14,900 in 1991, did my thing with the car and had my fun. 4 years later i returned it to stock, sold it for $14,500. Cost me $100 per year to own. Car was bought by a dealer who immediately shipped it across country to a collector. Drove it from my house to the airport to be shipped. Everyone thought those cars were gonna increase in value like old musclecars. This was during the first major musclecar "boom" for restored muscle. The Buicks have held their own but didn't take off quite like some collectors thought they would. Also there is a big difference between valuable amd desirable. Everyone wanted or now wants a turbo 6 Buick but that didn't necessarily make them extremely valuable. Like i said they held their own but there wasn't much profit to be made by flipping them, both then and now. On the other side of the coin, dad and i used to talk about this...had he known then a 1970 Hemi Cuda would be worth a million dollars in todays market he would have found a way to buy 2 of them back then, but who knew?

I've always wanted to get a Terminator that's in rough shape and restore it to it's former glory. This video reminds me of the "Terminated" thread on SVTP, the guy is in over his head a bit but i really do want to see him build that Cobra. Unfortunately a lot of the time it's cheaper and easier to just buy a put together Cobra than it is to take one that's rough and put it back together again. As a result of that you see a lot of them get parted out or ones that are just shells sitting there. Some people have the ability to save them but it just isn't worth it to them because there's no money to be made from restoring a Cobra that far gone.
