Hello sir, all the websites on this video are insane. Can you find some anime-type websites for us? I am working on an anime-type website and want to find something unique like the one on your video mentioned.
@odddirector
@odddirector 14 сағат бұрын
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind :) I don't recall a lot of sites using the anime style though, so you could be onto something unique there, keep going! The only thing that comes to mind so far is this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqKplHmHedJ5qKssi=neomvFKSzQptRi2i&t=33 I'll reply with more if I remember or come across some.

To be honest, these are not even the craziest ones from the ones I've looked at on the channel so far 😅 HOWEVER, like I already said in the comments below, the most important thing is a good idea, which does not necessarily mean advanced execution.

Oh but don’t let it discourage you. It might seem like some developers are extraordinary and you’ll never be able to catch up or compete with them, but in reality, they’re all just standing on the shoulders of giants. Very few sites are coded from scratch, nor is there really a need for that. Having a good original idea is important and is probably the only thing that you should really do yourself. The rest comes down to finding a good js library to use, copying and pasting from stack overflow, or even using AI. For instance portfolio #3 mariosmaselli.com/ uses matter.js and Portfolio #4 silviasguotti.design uses Swiper API

I can tell you now that 90% of the internet doesn't look like these websites. Most agencies will use a template and tweak from there, you're fine.

Usually they tend to do well. I got lazy and stopped checking, but usually, with that attention to detail and a level of design, mobile is also not left behind.

Philipp, would you know where I could find the plugins, animation effects or code to create the layouts for the websites presented in the video?
@odddirector
@odddirector 29 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for the question! These sites were mostly built from scratch by their creators. The second one uses locomotive-scroll for animation via scrolling functionality. Its possible that the first one uses some open source script to create the liquid effect, but if it does, I dont know what it is. A good place to look for scripts like this is codepen or look at examples in libraries like three.js, paper.js, p5.js etc HOWEVER, that said, its more important to come up with a unique idea, and it does not necessarily have to involve complex coding or fancy animations. Making your portfolio site stand out from the rest is really all about a good original idea, and much less about the execution. Using scripts, plugins and animations that are already publicly available can actually have the opposite effect and make the site look unoriginal and not interesting.
@renanrubini3865
@renanrubini3865 29 күн бұрын
@@odddirector Thanks for the response and information. In this case, it's good to know some animations to make the page or layout more attractive, even if they are well known. Depending on the purpose of the site or audience, you can approach this same structure and still have good results. However, I agree that too much animation is tiring. I will research the instructions you provided, thanks again.

Haha sorry about that, it's actually most likely my fault... 😅 I'm having a bit of trouble with youtube not promoting my videos when I try any new topics (anything other than portfolio review videos). So when I do a video that is different I untick the "promote to subscribers" box. As you can see, it doesn't alway help though unfortunately 😅 I should start doing community posts with these videos.

So I thought I’d clarify something after you thought something I thought was funny, wasn’t funny. The ChatGpt prompt was: "write a javascript where a canvas 90 px high by 200 wide will display current time in big black digits and then every second convert this image on the canvas into a two-dimensional javascript array, where 0 would represent white and 1 would represent black, and log it to console" That's it. The rest was written by me. github.com/odddirector/time_of_life/commits/main/ Well and by Robert Spatz who’s written the original game of life in js. codepen.io/RBSpatz/pen/rLyNLb There is an interesting conversation to be had about heavily using AI in a dev process (I don’t think there is anything wrong with it personally, especially for fast prototyping). Could be a cool topic for a separate video.

Did ChatGPT really do all the website's code by itself or did it give you an idea and you converted that idea into code?
@odddirector

Hey! So ChatGPT only wrote a script that created the running clock on the canvas and converted it to the array of zeros and ones every second. The rest was written by me: github.com/odddirector/time_of_life/commits/main/ And the original js/css game of life of course was written by Robert Spatz codepen.io/RBSpatz/pen/rLyNLb The chatgpt prompt was: "write a javascript where a canvas 90 px high by 200 wide will display current time in big black digits and then every second convert this image on the canvas into a two-dimensional javascript array, where 0 would represent white and 1 would represent black, and log it to console"
