With the rise of drag and drop builders like Wix, I was getting pessimistic about what web developers can do and do they even have a role anymore. Clearly I was overthinking because this shit is waaaay beyond what a drag and drop builder can do. 🔥

Yes, I wouldn't worry about that. I feel like it's more of a niche product. Site builders are very good if you're on a budget, don't have much time or/and design and dev experience. There'll always be clients who want unique looks, functionalities and entire web apps. Additionally there is a whole competitive market of themes for these site builders you can enter as a developer and be creative about it.

It looks nice and so but what I want most of the time is to get to the wanted informations as fast as possible even with a shitty internet connection and a potato.

I think its good to find the right balance between optimising your portfolio for speed and making it stand out from the rest so that a potential client remembers you or wants to hire you right away @bobbobson6290

Philipp, would you know where I could find the plugins, animation effects or code to create the layouts for the websites presented in the video?

Hey, thanks for the question! These sites were mostly built from scratch by their creators. The second one uses locomotive-scroll for animation via scrolling functionality. Its possible that the first one uses some open source script to create the liquid effect, but if it does, I dont know what it is. A good place to look for scripts like this is codepen or look at examples in libraries like three.js, paper.js, p5.js etc HOWEVER, that said, its more important to come up with a unique idea, and it does not necessarily have to involve complex coding or fancy animations. Making your portfolio site stand out from the rest is really all about a good original idea, and much less about the execution. Using scripts, plugins and animations that are already publicly available can actually have the opposite effect and make the site look unoriginal and not interesting.

@@odddirector Thanks for the response and information. In this case, it's good to know some animations to make the page or layout more attractive, even if they are well known. Depending on the purpose of the site or audience, you can approach this same structure and still have good results. However, I agree that too much animation is tiring. I will research the instructions you provided, thanks again.
