Naturally, actors will do as many takes as needed to get it right, to the degree they value getting the part. It’s unrealistic to expect otherwise. The real problem is film makers asking EVERYONE to submit audition tapes, regardless of any real interest in them as an actor. Only a few years ago, I would get hired based entirely on my reel. Recently, I was asked to self tape and then do a zoom call back for an unpaid student film. I’m sorry, but F that! Just yesterday I was provided sides and asked to submit an audition tape of my acting for a project to which I’d applied as an editor. They hadn’t even bothered to read my application, but they wanted me to do an audition. I doubt I’m the only actor who’s getting annoyed and burned out by this process.

Idk how I always wondered this, but is the client and Ad Agcy the same group of people/community or are they different? 👀

Different. The client hires the ad agency. So the client is maybe Nike, and the ad agency works for the client.

This was very helpful. I've been practicing in front of the camera, and I think I'm improving, but when you mentioned "flubbing your lines" I thought that was only me. I vacillate between sticking strictly to my script, which I invariably become too wooden, or being totally spontaneous and missing necessary parts of the thought. Anyway, thanks, I'm going to keep trying.

hey Dan, so if you have an action while delivering your dialogue should you perform it? Also, I noticed slight shadow behind you. Can I get away with that?
@ActingCareerExpertАй бұрын
It depends on what kind of action and if it can be done in the confines of your self-tape setup. Also, the slight shadow is ok, most of mine is directly behind me, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
