Another awesome vid Dan! Cmail audition notifications are definitely one of the best things, almost as great as residual notifications lol. I recently saw you credited on season 2 of Little America, I was pinned for an episode, didn't get it but yeah definitely a bummer to feel so close and not book but just one of those roller coasters of our work. Keep up the amazing content & love the new studio!
@ActingCareerExpert

Thanks so much A! Being pinned for a show is actually a big win and a sign that they like you. It's usually followed by that same casting director calling you for another project. Keep up the great work and keep me posted on your progress.

Congratulations on booking this new Netflix show! Can't wait to see it! And I love the new studio look. As always, you nailed it! Btw, do you do any voice work? If you do, are you also using your phone to audition or do you have a different set up that you could share with us? Thanks again for another great video!

Thank you so much Victoria! I've done some voice work, and I would use an external mic and not my phone for that. I'll look into doing a video on the subject. Thanks again.

Hi Dan 👋! I recently signed with a Chicago based talent agency 3 weeks ago. Prior to this, I took 7 acting classes throughout 2022. And prior to that, I never acted a day in my life! Anyhoo. My question is: How often should I expect auditions? I've gotten two so far. One for The Chi on Showtime, and another for an Ace Hardware commercial. I didn't get either unfortunately. But I understand that's the nature of this business! I just wanna get an idea of what to expect of my agency moving forward for the remainder of 2023 say. Thanks Dan! We all appreciate 🙏 your videos. I'm also thinking of signing up very soon!

Great question Oscar. I would think just starting out you should get 2 to 3 auditions a month. If you're not getting that, in 2 or 3 months I would ask my agent for a submission report. That tells you how many times they're submitting you. If they're not submitting that much it's on them, but if they are, and you're just not getting called in, then your headshots might need to be redone. If you go to my site now and use the code: NEWYEAR you'll get 75% off of the membership. That offer will end real soon. Thanks for watching! Dan

Great video! Thank you for sharing! Quote is from the end of the movie When Harry met Sally during the new years party scene. One of the most memorable movie scenes of 1989! “I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” -- Harry (Billy Crystal)

I’m going to offer another opinion on your study. Better than your other set up. The light coming in puts it out of balance and the vine looks a little spars. The picture behind your head, I think is not in right spot because your head hides part of picture but you can see some palm trees. I think the actors chair is cool and dark blue shirt looks good with skin tone and light wall background. I pulled up some pictures of industrial style, and mid century modern style office settings. Depending on the styles you like, you could get some good ideas from wall tone, wood shelves, and lighting to improve your set up. Be happy to help with some design ideas if you want. Found a couple cool shots of backgrounds that would pretty simple to put together.

Do you have/ or can you make a video about how to find an agent? I feel as though I’m having a hard time finding big auditions (rather than the small student films) due to not being able to find a reputable agent within my area

Hiya. Do you think doing 2 takes is necessary/a good idea (if they don't ask for 2)?
@ActingCareerExpert
@ActingCareerExpert Жыл бұрын
My rule is never send in 2 takes unless they ask for 2. If all actors sent in 2 or 3 takes and they had 100 actors submit, they'd never get through everything. Thanks for the question.

Hi Dan - love the studio- very nice, simple and professional! I'm wondering if you or if you know actors who tried a different way of getting auditions/jobs and were successful? For example what if I sent say 2 short clips/AA/CN links to someone at Netflix and asked them to consider me for my types of roles? I'm sure it all depends who the person is and other factors. I would do my research of course. Just trying to think out of the coffin...I don’t have a legit agent right now as I need to get new headshots/clips, etc. It's kinda like taking a risk without being pushy bc I HATE pushy people. I also am not and never will be a desperate actor. Euuuuuuu. Funny you auditioned for "Beef" and for the 1st time ever I am trying to make beef stew. 🍲🐄 😊 Thank you. Maybe you could do a video on HOW you got jobs by doing things the untraditional way?🤔

Dan, can you explain how your agent was able to get you the audition through Actors Access? Ive done many day player and short films myself. At this point I have decided to seek an agent after I have complete 12 roles. I think thats enough to put together a good reel and to show that I am marketable. Any thoughts? ...and can I take you to lunch sometime? Im here in LA.
