You could make it a “practical “ car. Just add on the carbon fiber luggage rack. It’ll be a sleeper.

Excellent q&a session. I'm in the uk and following a chap who has build one and is in the process of getting it through an mot test. ( ministry of transport). As its a hand built car it needs a more in depth test. I think it's approximately 4 hours, but don't quote me on that. Once it's done he will be showing us what it can do on the road and track. You think those tail lights are expensive... I remember selling a pair of carbon fiber Novitec Rosso tail lights to Jesse James (the chopper guy) for his Ferrari Enzo. IIRC the pair cost $14,000.

You are really top notch engineer...so many upgrades and solutions, also a lot of carbon-fibre (is without any cheaper 😁). Complete race car with hypercar beating performance...definately gives a run to some high end exotic supercars 😎 Great build...lucky future owner 💪

Anyone looking at this today, be aware that the prices are up around 20 to 30% from what you see here. I recently reached out to Ultima for pricing and the pac A is 38k and Pac B 35k. All the optioms are up as well.

An ultimate ultima rs for me in my opinion would have either a billet 2jz motor or a billet 2.4l synergy v8 motor( nz built v8 that revs to 11,000rpm and doesn't need a rebuilt like v8 hayabusa ) w/ a billet sequential gearbox ..but your ultimate rs is nice

Ultima could be perfect with carbon fiber chassis with aluminum rear struts... I saw in internet they do 40 bucks custom chassis. Search in monocoque carbon chassis price...

Do you have an honest estimate of how many hours of labor is involved in building this as well? I reached out to Ultima, and I think they said it's normally 300-400 hours of labor, but I just feel like that seems quite low for this, but maybe I'm wrong.

That’s actually pretty accurate I’d think. I finished mine in 5 months and that was with a few delays, plus I went outside the box and added a some things of my own- pedal box, different fuel system, throttle body relocation, etc. A huge time saver is that there’s no body or paint work, welding, fabrication, etc. It’s just assembly.

Good info, it sounds like your auction went a good bit lower than you thought tough? Seems like waiting for one to go up for sale vs building would be a lot simpler and cheaper sadly. Looks like to build process was a lot of fun, but also tough to take that big of a bit.

@@sim2circuit I’m not sure what it shows online but the auction didn’t last 24 hours before a buyer called me offering me more than I spent on the build. Not a bad investment at all.

@@UltimateUltimaRS that's actually awesome. So maybe doing a build myself wouldn't be a terrible idea. I've been considering an LS7 all motor Ultima over buying a C8. Seems like that'd be plenty of power. Did the LT5 seem like overkill?

@@sim2circuit The LT5 definitely wasn’t overkill but I’m someone who likes the extreme end of things. It could sit and idle in traffic all day or blast down the highway so the practicality was actually not bad at all. Traction was much much better than you would think and it put the power down surprisingly well.

I own a Superlite SLC and it is a fantastic car. What bothers me is the car I have cant be built now for less than $160,000. some of the ads still claim these cars are attainable at $65k?? Not sure what the Ultima ads say

They say one can be built for the price of a “mundane BMW M3” but I know just the kits are being sold for $120k so that’s certainly not true. The Ultima ads are more about performance- “250mph!” Haven’t seen one do anywhere close to that. “1200hp LT5 version!” Show me one because I haven’t seen it. Very unfortunate from them.
