Nice list. We have been on a bit of a soul search for a new MMO to play after we stopped playing OSRS. Its still really hard to find anything that fits and ticks all those boxes. The only one that has really stuck with us is Brighter Shores but its more of a second monitor game rite now. Throne and Liberty looks cool. Hopefully 2025 can breath some life back into the genre!

Yeah but after 100hrs im at 3400gs and my build is caped at around 4000gs so p2w players will just reach this cap faster and have nothing farm for, my point is p2w is not bad when you have gear cap because every item that drops can be useful because you sell it to p2w win ppl and latter on still one shot them in pvp

This game looks like it has some potential. I know you said the quests are a little cryptic but what do they actually have you doing? Are they like basic fetch quests or a bit more interesting?
@ketsandhisgames17 күн бұрын
It starts off with mostly fetch quests that are designed to teach you in-game systems like "gather x ore or gather y meat and craft z items". Then, eventually, once the story gets going, it's mostly talk-to-this-guy quests. Both are super vague! For example, almost ALL of the early fetch quests that teach you the Tradeskill system, they just don't tell you where to gather them. You'll eventually run into the mats by wandering aimlessly but that's the only way. :')

Unfortunately the point of this message is invalidated by the game's actual core mechanics as it relates to progression. Both players can hit level cap LONG before a season/update releases that expands that level cap beyond it's current value. Therefore, it's just Pay to Progress. Now if it starts to take 3 months to hit level cap for the average F2P player and the level cap increases every month, then that's what I'd consider P2W as it's impossible for the F2P to catch up on time to join side by side with top GS players.

the reason why people call it PAY2PROGRESS vs PAY2WIN is for a few things. P2P is just lowering the amount of time needed to reach an end goal faster then someone who does not P2P but they will catch up in a reasonable amount of time. P2W is paying to have a clear advantage over F2P at all stages of progression in the game. Meaning there is nothing a F2P can do to catch up to a P2W player either due to Pay Wall or Rapid Growth the F2P cant keep up with content. Gachas are a huge showing of P2W because they have aspects that lets a whale have a clear access to things in the game a F2P will never achieve without insane luck.
@NickLegelАй бұрын
Even with your hypothetical the f2p player can still make it to 600 gs so your point won’t matter and gs does have a cap so if your 600 gs was the cap the pay to play would just get there faster but both would make it to the end at some point
@NickLegelАй бұрын
No p2w is using money to get an advantage you can’t get without it or if 3500 was max and you can get there for free or fast with pay as long as both can get there it’s not pay to win just faster

Very rambly comment, sorry It for some reason copied the huge ugly blocky UI design of OSRS, as if anyone wanted that? It's not an artistic expression for massive boxes to take up 70% of your screen and you are left with an 800x600 game. The skills "resetting" is one of the worst things. It's not a reset in the sense of reset, but Andrew had to come out and say multiple times that you aren't losing anything. If the main guy behind the game has to come out and explain it multiple times because every single person who played it thought/felt like it was a reset, then it's a bad system. Noone seems to like it, if you understand it it might be like "yeah okay fine", but it doesn't add anything to the game. All the combat professions are the same because the combat is that so why have a different combat profession? It would make more sense if each of the "new" professions built on the previous one, if the previous skill got "upgraded" to the new one or something. Example: Forager goes to level 50, after level 50 it upgrades to gatherer. There is things in the first zone that would need gatherer levels or higher forager levels, and there is things in the second zone that would need lower forager levels or higher gatherer levels, I'm not a game designer but I feel like this would result in some continuity and a reason to head back to previous episodes or zones idk but it just doesn't feel good or make sense when all of the professions including combat is clicking on something and waiting. I also find the little diorama puzzle piece scenes really weird, it makes the game feel much smaller and claustrophobic. Look at that beach, why is that beach split into multiple parts? There is 1 tiny gap separating it but it's a different zone for some reason
@ketsandhisgamesАй бұрын
@@bird9188 Rambly comments are always welcome! I agree completely, tbh. The biggest thing for me is all these gameplay decisions are ones you _can_ get used to with time, but I still can't understand why they were made in the first place.

hilarious how the professions in each episode are the same concept, just in different fonts, just like the drops are recycled, but in different fonts. i wanted to traverse the world a bit to find cool drops like in runescape, but you're limited to the small area on your map. still gonna play the game though LOL

No. It's far worse. In RSC you had 3 different combat stats, atk, str,Def and you were able to switch weapon stance on each tick - changing how the combat works for that tick and also allowing you to customise your stats/character. You also had supplementary combat mechanics like magic+prayer. Bs combat system has none of these.

A big part I think you missed is gower talked about the episode system being good for people who play less. When a new episode drops and they are hundreds of levels behind the hardcore grinders they can jump into the new episode at almost the exact same starting point. That's really the whole idea behind the system.
@ketsandhisgamesАй бұрын
@@flame8469 You're right that he has said that, but again, I think the system fails at that. You can't enter new episodes without completing previous ones and meeting the overall level requirements. You'd have to go back and catch up anyway. That, I think, is the crux of the issue. The episode system as he describes it has promise, but the system as it is implemented doesn't.

I really enjoy the game. I think it fails at it too. The game separates the professions in different episodes but it still feels like you're just going to that grinding spot to do it. They can't add new episodes all the time either that would be a lot of work. Plus if you did then they would just be reusing the old content running it as new in later episodes. I don't mind the separation of content honestly. I think it works besides the combat it just doesn't feel good at all. I'm also not feeling the separation in gear. It definitely makes combat feel worse most people are having issues with it.
