Great explanation! idk if you should also add to the your video or make a separeted one about the stones, some runes can be tricky to understand, i am stuck wi the thoughs about adding crit stones or basically just keep with the ones that busts my attack while in combat and so on

I'm not sure if it's worth a whole video but in short, you want to aim for at least 34% Crit Rate, then 11.4% Omni, and then from there you can work on more Crit Rate and Cooldown Reduction. For the inscribed stone tree, you're just looking to rush to the emblems by putting one point per node all the way up. Put more points into Crit Rate nodes. Hope that helps! I'll include Inscribed Stone trees in future guides. :)

nice guide for mage. tho i like to point out that after countless testing different playstyle/rotation on both fire and ice build, ice build STILL is the best in terms of consistent DPS imo. not to mention ice build is easier to rotate and use. even with the latest patch where they ramp up fire mage heat stacking ability, ice build still hands down the best(for now). this might change tho when the game starts to add more gears along the way which can increase stats. (and yes, i dedicate at least 2-3 hrs of testing for rotation/playstyle of both ice and fire build since day 1 to see which one do more dmg)

I don't particularly disagree. I still believe that the DPS ceiling is slightly higher for the Flame spec, but as I mentioned, it's a tricky class to use and small mistakes lead to DPS losses, and having bad ping is a pretty noticeable nerf for the class. Frost is definitely easier.

Hey do you change your rotation during the “inscribed stone ultimate”? I usually just do heat bomb, searing, heat bomb, searing, heat bomb, searing?

Yup, that's about right, since Searing Sting will detonate Heat Bomb when the Inscribed Stone Skill is active. You can throw in a Blazing Orb too, but you have to time it so that when it explodes, Heat Bomb is active (this can be very tricky when the Inscribed Stone Skill is active), which is useful for extra damage.

Just a question, why'd you pick Unstable Explosive (ATK after heat bomb explodes), instead of Immovable Flame (%dmg when standing still?). It's quite easy to have a high uptime on Immovable Flame. I'm personally running with 2/3 in Flame Master (2% increased crit instead of 3%), and two points in Immovable Flame.

Immovable flame is certainly pretty nice but a lot of bosses quickly become mobility-dependant, so standing still isn't that viable. It can be though in some dungeons and raids. Unstable Explosion is also a neat buff without any extra effort from your part, so it tends to be a bit more consistent. There are definitely ways to min-max this more than I have, but I do still try to strike at least a bit of a balance between DPS, consistency and ease of use.

@@ketsandhisgames me personally im using fireball+ instead of unstable explosive. because after the explosion of heat bomb you are using mostly just fireball and waiting for your other skills to come back up. what do you think about that sir?

If Flame is "slightly better", it still feels like everyone plays flame? Anyone playing frost to shed some light on how they compare dps-wise more accurately?

Flame is a meme, its high APM and barely does any better then frost. Not to mention if you mess up your rotation and lose out on heat stacks it really ruins it for you in pvp. Frost is significantly easier to play and has insane burst with triple artic. Flame might be more newb friendly in pvp since its a more mobile spec, but once you understand positioning and manage to pull of artic icicle casts then you will start melting people in pvp.

I pretty much see both specs equally in the server I play on. Imo, Flame does have a slightly higher ceiling but it's easy to miss out on a lot of DPS through small mistakes or just having high ping. It's a much more finicky spec than Frost, which is a lot more consistent.

Might be my perception of seeing flames mages everywhere, I assumed it's because there is this general assumption pve dps is significantly better for flame. Hence I asked.

It definitely should in most cases! The only class Flame Mage can't out-DPS at the moment is Ranger.

@@zlimYudipota Both Ranger specs are top-tier DPS. Hunting is more DPS if the boss doesn't move much, but if it does, Beast Tamer is better. Currently, Rangers top out on DPS charts with both specs, but Mages are very close behind with both specs as well. The biggest factor is skill and gear. A skilled, high gear Mage player will *always* out-DPS a less skilled Ranger!

I usually play Mages.. So I went with a Paladin this time to switch it up.. I got it to 40 and 95 gear score.. Made a mage, I enjoy it much more.. And, wish I would've just played it to begin with. But it's too late. LMFAO! Don't be like me.. If you want to be something, just pick it. Who cares, how you try to justify it to yourself.

Imo, you're both right and wrong. I'm of the opinion that Flame's max DPS is higher, it's just really difficult to reach because even minor mistakes can lead to noticeable drops in DPS. Plus, ping has a significant effect on this spec, and the servers just aren't that good at the moment. Ice is definitely more consistently good. Still though, it's not that big of a difference. Flame and Frost are pretty equally represented on DPS leaderboards!

This *can* work but it's super inconsistent and if your ping is not very low, the first Blazing Orb will explode before you can activate Heat Bomb. Using Heat Bomb between the two Blazing Orbs is just way more consistent.

unless you have 10+% cooldown, you wont be able to get two orbs into heatbomb, hence why people who went omni press 6 before 4(not at the same time, but actually before so the gcd wont ffk up stacks)
