I don't know anyone deaf to communicate with, but I'm really drawn to ASL for some reason. Your videos are great and I use Dr Bill Vicar's site as well. It's really an amazing language to learn. Thank you!

But unfortunately he is a colonialist, he does not think first of the native sign language. He has brought ASL to other countries and is fully committed there. I am strictly against this point. The native signs should be promoted. Nevertheless, his achievements in establishing many schools, hats off!

Welp. ASL was my 1st language in a deaf school, but I think I was taught by a deaf teacher so I do both formal and casual in one sentence. Like mixing your cursive and printing writing together.

I’m going to school to become an ASL interpreter and this program has helped our whole class. We’re doing a 16 week course in eight weeks. Don’t ask me why they have that but this has been a great tool. I’m watching all of the videos on repeat and all the new ones. I greatly appreciate these videos. And I just learned that you have classes on Zoom or your website so I’m gonna start using those as well. I just saw the classifiers class and we just started learning about about that so thank you so much for your time to create these videos I really really appreciate it.

Im hearing impaired and with hearing aids thankfully ive been able to just get thro my life (lacking socials ofc) without needing sign language ever. But its still a pretty cool means to communicate and I'd learn it just to talk to others who werent as lucky as me

If you are teaching signs, shouldnt you be signing everything? I'm sure some Deaf people would be interested in what you are teaching as well: not every Deaf person knows all the signs you are teaching. You should sign everything you are saying as well. JMO

I’m not sure why you can’t provide your own subtitles because the automated captions isn’t not reliable!! So please add the subtitles if you really want to be into deaf world!! Right now I’m not sure why you are teaching sign language when it should be deaf’s platforms

I want to clarify that this video does have captions. I personally spent an hour typing them ensuring they were accurate. If you're not seeing them, I’d recommend checking your settings. I don’t want any misinformation out there about our accessibility efforts. As for teaching ASL, we recognize that perspectives on this vary within the Deaf community. We deeply respect Deaf culture and always incorporate it into our curriculum. Our team includes both Deaf and hearing instructors, and we create content because there is a real need and desire for it. Many of our learners find it easier to start their ASL journey with an instructor who shares their background. We also encourage students to not just learn from us, but other sources as well and that the best way to reach fluency is to be involved in your local Deaf community and sign. We’re committed to making ASL accessible to as many people as possible. Appreciate your thoughts!
