@ClearWaterPumpWell25 күн бұрын
@@cunninghamwelding it's possibly the start switch or capacitor that's preventing the motor from starting. Usually a capacitor won't allow the motor to start again but rarely it can. The motor could be binding because of the impeller inside of the pump or other obstruction. Turn the power off and try turning the shaft it should spin very freely, if it gets jammed then you know that it's a binding impeller. If not that look at the start switch and see if the points are burned up for the contacts are not touching completely.

I have a fiberglass one that’s leaking from the top threads. Is that fixable with some teflon tape or is it leaking for some other reason.
@ClearWaterPumpWellАй бұрын
@@shawnstarbuck454 depends on the brand and model of the tank. Some may have been leaking for a while but you didn't notice until now. The sure sign your losing air out the top is they get waterlogged really quickly like overnight or just a few days. Tanks charged with air take a few months to lose the air charge even without a air volume control device. Some Starite or flexcon tanks you can take plug out after draining the pressure and redux the plug sealant. If it's a plastic and fiberglass port with a oring be careful as they can break and rupture when pressurizing again.

Tighten it back but not buried in fitting and check with soapy water after you fill tank back up to full pressure.

@@shawnstarbuck454 No its a Hydropneumatic Standard tank, the air and water are combined not separated by a bladder. The air will empty completely out if the tank is drained and the air charge will have to be added back with a AVC device. The air charge is sufficient initially when the tank is first filled by the compression ratio of natural air existing when filled.

@jaythompson6810 if it's not hanging over 100' it should not be that expensive. They should also follow through after replacing the jet by putting your old pump back on the well as more than likely there's nothing wrong with it. Even worse sometimes they sell a substandard model that can prove to be a bigger problem in the future.

Absolutely it's a great idea in an industrial environment because people know what they're doing when they turn the valve off. Your average homeowner will make the mistake of turning the valve off and yeah it will stop the water going to the house but it will cause the pump Too Short cycle. The check valve being in line will also cause issues with pressure fluctuations due to the pump with pressure switch not being able to sense directly from the tank. When they do become inoperable, the rubber diaphragm usually tears and causes a leak. Repair kits used to be inexpensive, now they cost nearly the same amount as a new Brady Air Volume Control Unit!
