It’s crazy how good it still looks. I played resident evil nemesis on GameCube and I was like wow it still looks good. GameCube was such a jump previous gen. Put resident evil on GameCube up to ps4/ps5 and you’ll appreciate the fact game is over 20 years old compared to last gen and current gen.

Let's be honest, this was the last truly great console generation. It only had hints of what would end up being where we are now and we're not doing too great.
@crywolfplays19 сағат бұрын
The PS2 generation? I would agree that was the best generation, though I think the PS3 generation was a lot of fun seeing all the first "cinematic blockbuster" games. Unfortunately like you said that also caused everything to kind of go downhill from there

Maybe Nintendo saw the success of Prime Remastered and offered RetroStudios more time if they work on Echoes Remastered and Corruption Remastered on the side. Maybe Nintendo also knows that many players won't be interested in a new Switch without titles that clearly take advantage of the device. So they'll release MPER and MPCR as NS2 games on the same day that NS2 releases and, for the first time ever*, do a Metroid-themed console bundle with the OLED Switch 2 and all three remastered games. *for a console, not a hand-held like the special edition Samus Returns N3DS that I will forever regret not buying when I could have.
@crywolfplays19 сағат бұрын
Yeah I'm hoping they were given more time to work on more significant remasters, it's hard to tell how long prime 1 remastered took. Also, there were switch OLED and GameCube bundles for Metroid Dread and Prime so it might happen

Sony's greatest and most underrated achievement. Simply a fantastic device. I still play mine. I bought the first release when on the road traveling for a job, paid 350 for it. The iPod was impressive tech in those days, which made this absolutely amazing for the time . Such a bang for the buck.

GameCube and SNES have something in common with perfecting their direct predecessor’s limitations/flaws while also selling significantly less than their own direct predecessor. Sales aren’t everything and it mainly matters about the childhood’s that those systems have left a lasting impression on.
@allay8034Күн бұрын
I don't know about that but one way to look at it is that you're never truly sure who you can trust during times such as those. Metroid. Otherwise there's a suspicion amongst the prior ones and it can get extremely heated between thick sheets of steel covered in a matted, rubber gloss to ensure no moisture travels within the inner sanctum. Samus. Fools were led to believe the underside folded nicely in place of objects that were without that functionality in this day and age.

Not sure of what the sales look like for Prime Remastered, but if they were satisfactory by Nintendo's standards, remastering and releasing the next two entries would probably be best.

I wonder how difficult it would be to adapt prime 3 to dual analog controls considering the motion control gimmicks used in that game. I would love to see prime 2 in HD, remastered or not. On dolphin with upscaled textures & 1080p, it still looks great. I'm also going to go pre-order that book because this is the first I've heard of it!
@crywolfplaysКүн бұрын
I have a couple videos that explore these topics. I think Prime 2 has so much potential from a remaster, it was so ambitious and complex. Prime 3 I think is a step down from the other two but still enjoyable. I think they could either bring it over as a straight port using the switch motion controls as a minimum effort, but hopefully they adapt it to dual analog somehow.
@trashaimgamer7822Күн бұрын
Uhhh just use the left stick to move and right stick to aim like in any other shooter? How hard could that be? As for the motion gimmicks, just use the gyroscope. Or convert that to button presses and tilting the analog stick. It really ain't rocket science....

The PSP blew my mind when I was a kid. Playing Metal Gear Solid on the go was a dream come true I'm still upset about how poorly the Vita did, but I'm still holding onto a sliver of hope that they put out a new handheld one day.

PSP not having a touch screen is par for the course. Before Nintendo innovated with the DS adding a touch screen, the industry had not adopted touch as a standard. It's because of Nintendo that you have the iPhone today, Apple simply copied Nintendo's homework and the rest is history.

To be fair Nintendo DS launched with TWO 3-inch screens. So the ultimate screen size is 6 inches, much larger than PSP

I’ve been in and out of the gaming collection scene for a while now, I honestly feel the psp feels better than the vita despite the lack of the second joystick. I am aware you can play psp on the vita but it just isn’t the same imo. I have a hacked psp 1000 that I use for psp and some ps1 and I honestly use it more than my switch. I am predominantly a PlayStation user but as a kid I only had gameboys so it would have been a game changer for me to have the psp when I was younger. I ended up selling my vita in the end because I prefer the PSP for psp games and as far as ps vita games I’m not too fussed on them and the majority of the ones I do care about I have the ports on my ps5 as well as better versions on my switch like personal 4 golden for example. The vita being easily replaceable by modern tech but I can’t say the same for psp, it’s still very relevant in my eyes. I’m eventually going to ips mod the screen but for now all I did was get a bigger and better ostent battery and it’s good to go

Yeah I got one in 2005 I was 18 and it was amazing, I was blown away by it considering only 6 years earlier I got a game boy pocket at the age of 12, but hey I remember 6 years earlier than that playing the old XT computer with my brothers, having to load the games first into DOS by way of large floppys…my psp was jailbroken with custom firmware by my brother well over a decade ago, my friends nephews had stolen it for a couple of years before their parents found it and was forced to return it to me, now 19 years later and I’m playing an emulated version of Pokémon blue on my almost 2 decade old psp

Another thing worth mentioning is the emulation capabilities of the PSP if you load custom firmware. Certainly for the time it was released, what it can emulate is pretty impressive. Off memory, I could run PS1 roms on my PSP, Mega Drive, Sega CD, all of the Gameboys, Beats of Rage, even arcade titles from CPS1 and 2. And it's pretty user friendly to set up also, simply hook it up to a laptop and you can drag and drop files as you like.

Cheapest way to get component cables for GameCube.. Play on a Wii. 😊
@d112cons4 күн бұрын
Here's a quick story: ArtX. A upstart graphics company from former SGI engineers. Their designs were incredible. Nintendo went with them to develop the GPU for the GameCube. ATI was so impressed, they bought the company - which is why you'll see ArtX on older GC mockups, and ATI on the released console. That engineering team would go on with ATI (soon to be folded into AMD) to release the 9700pro for PCs. One of the most revolutionary GPUs ever made in how far it pushed 3d graphics into the future, and officially made them a threat to nVidia, which they continue to be. Yeah - the GameCube was an uncommonly strong piece of hardware.
@d112cons4 күн бұрын
The Gamecube was visually on-par with the Xbox, and significantly better than the PS2. Its hardware was unexpectedly strong, enough so that with little more than a slight clock speed boost, it was essentially identical to what would power the Wii years later.
@Gummibri4 күн бұрын
Keep in mind these games did do HD BUT most people used tube tv's in standard def. Especially since this was more geared towards kids and families who would play this in their rooms, etc and rarely where the HDTV was. It was the PS3 / 360 era that flat panels became more common around 2006-2008. Those CRT's added a very nice smoothing effect.
@BakedApple9894 күн бұрын
Another aspect nobody talks about, or forgets, is that these games look waaaay better on a CRT, compared to a modern TV. They were made with CRT in mind, so stuff like textures on Twlight Princess, for example, look amazing. Recently bought a CRT again and it’s blowing my mind. Even the Gameboy Player, which Good Vibes Gaming somewhat recently did a video bashing the quality, look so good on a CRT.

Besides art styles I think a lot of the texture work is surprisingly fantastic. I've emulated gamecube games quite a bit in my spare time and simply bumping up internal resolution a few times (literally nothing else, JUST the res bump) results in games that could pass off as Wii U games at times. It truly is incredible how much work was made into making these games look pretty with the limited resources they had.
