This game needs to be brought back! I never played it but everytime I look at it it blows my mind! The music is amazing and the cutscenes are funny and full of charm The gameplay is out of this world ahead of its time

Corruption would actually be the best remaster yup I said it. I mean all 3 would be great, but Corruption has some of the most detailed and beautiful environments and they could really go ham on a remaster.

I generally don't like racing games that much and F-ZERO GX is my favorite game of all time. Says a lot of the quality of this game.

The sense of speed you get from the ground zipping under the ship is crazy when you compare to anything else. 60 fps and 480p is key to displaying the movement of the grid surface texture you often race on. Also, the brutal story mode and challenge is why I still fondly remember this game.

Years later it still makes no sense why this game never got a LAN mode like Kirby Air Ride or Mario Kart DD. No online I can slightly understand, but no LAN is just poor for a game this good. We could have had some epic online races on Xlink Kai.

The high speed is reason number one for me, why GX is the only racing game i play consistantly. When you compare it to others, you think you watch something with 0.5x Speed. It just feels so good speeding through the levels in GX, no other racing game can catch that feeling for me.

The cutscenes were definitely ahead of their time, the mocap is just as demented as FoodFight and that wouldn't come out until 2012 or something.

The 6th generation in my opinion is the best generation. When you stack the library of ps2, gamecube and original xbox I dont see any other generation that has quite as strong of a library. Hell just the PS2 and Gamecube alone wins that argument but then you have OG xbox with Halo, KotoR and Team Ninja games.

I'll never forget my first time playing demos of Luigi's Mansion and Rogue Leader at the store. I had gotten so used to the N64's graphics that the Gamecube's almost seemed movie quality.

The Metroid Prime games have always had titlescreens that are grandiose spectacles representing the story at hand, and are centerpieces of your memory for those games. They are all great in their own right, including the Trilogy titlescreen. It's a toss-up between Echoes and Trilogy for me, personally. The Echoes title theme is unbeatable. I expect nothing more and nothing less of the titlescreen from MP4: Beyond, as the next great chapter in the definitive modern Metroid experience.

The Gamecube was insanely powerful for its time, and its games still look amazing today. Running games in Dolphin and upscaling to 1080p makes them look almost modern. I'm in the process of having my Gamecube refurbished. Recapped and Xeno modded, installing a new aftermarket controller board that supports Bluetooth, getting a new 3D printed replacement shell. I already have an HDMI adapter that uses the digital port that Nintendo never used to output HDMI to a modern display.

Makes me want to buy a Gamecube again and play this game again after over 20 years. I do play occasionally newer games of this genre. But none of them have the speed and dynamic gameplay as this one. You captured that very well in this video.

I mostly agree with the thesis statement but one very specific nitpick I've always had with the game is the initial scene of Samus stepping out from her ship look flat out worse than the first games same scene on the orpheon.

The only qualm I have with your video is that you implied or directly said that Dread sold "poorly". I can't cite the numbers but I don't think it's development cost 180 million which is what it made on estimate.

Great analysis of these bosses! Even years later, with all my gripes with the game, the bosses are not one of them. They did an excellent job creating fun, unique, and even cool looking bosses. However i do have to agree that Boost Guardian on hard mode is incredibly brutal. This game really does limit you on resources to this point and asks you to basically not get hit at all in a pretty lengthy fight with an irratic enemy. Unfortunately the boss is completely trivialized in the Trilogy version due to the flick jump feature.
@crywolfplays
@crywolfplays 4 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah the boost guardian is a tough one. I feel like the gamecube version on normal difficulty is do-able but a little bit too hard. The normal mode should be slightly easier, and then hard mode should be slightly harder than the current normal mode. The trilogy version is definitely too easy, agreed.

It's my second favorite after the original prime but I go back and forth, they're both amazing. I think Prime 2 is just one of those games that you really have to sink a lot of time and energy into understanding and appreciating and then it becomes very rewarding, especially on multiple playthroughs.

For me the tone of the games: Music and colouring and level design and also gameplay is all more important than polygon amounts, rounded edges and resolution. Snes Games are timeless. PS1 and N64 had some real roughness going on. Ps2 and GC and Xbox refined the rough diamonds. But OoT looks better to me than most of those games because it was all about soul.
@crywolfplays
@crywolfplays 5 күн бұрын
Great point, the overall presentation and elements come together so well. I think P1 and N64 is probably the most rough generation out there from growing pains into 3D, yet there were still some perfect games like OoT. That game still looks good on original n64 hardware.
@Bathtubcrocodile
@Bathtubcrocodile 5 күн бұрын
@crywolfplays Yeah and the colouring, level designs and music still draws you in. It still feels great. Ofc some of it is nostalgia. I'm not gonna be all fuzzy inside like when I was a kid. But Oot still draws me back there and brings a smile. Today there is too much focus on the wrong things. 1000 moves, 1000 items, progression trees left and right and just clutter. Oot was so pure and simple. Yet challenging and exciting. A real adventure.
@crywolfplays
@crywolfplays 5 күн бұрын
@@Bathtubcrocodile Right, too many games nowadays just implement difficulty through "Boss with 1 million HP would can kill you in 2 hits with 2ms hit window" - I feel like games such as OoT had a much more organic difficulty where the challenge is understanding the environment design and how to use your tools, and like you said - kitchen sink gameplay with 100 systems and endless checkboxes. Older games are often somehow far simpler yet much richer in their design.
@Bathtubcrocodile
@Bathtubcrocodile 5 күн бұрын
@@crywolfplays I guess they wanted to make good games. And not "feature" and "content" packed goop that tries to addict you rather than bring you an experience. Games got to big. Smaller visionary studios don't live in Triple A.
