bought my 03 325xi, no rust, 180k miles. Replaced all fluids and the bank 2 02 sensor when i bought it. Regular oil changes since. Not a single serious issue and an incredibly fun and linear, as he said, driving experience. Its mt third and favorite car. Before I owned a 2004 G35 and a 2007 Camry with a shitty turbo kit lol. Big upgrade in my opinion, with the AWD, the leather interior, and the ride quality is astounding. Couldn't recommend a BMW more.

@@BuzzytheBlue hahaha, it was a chinese special turbo with a mishimoto intercooler. it was my first real project and had a lot of help from my uncle with fabrication and tuning. did most of the actual installation myself. If i remember correctly it was a 35mm turbo running about 5 psi. nothing crazy, but my engine was NOT built and had like 250k on it. One day i did a pull on my way to work and the mf threw a rod so i scrapped it and bought said G35. Either way, car was extremely sketchy to drive and none of my friends would ride in it besides my other car buddies. That being said, it was extremely fun and also a bit of a sleeper. Never had it put on a dyno so no idea what power it made. I did beat a 5.0 mustang in a race but it could've been a driver L on his part. sorry for the long reply, but basically a terribly made diy turbo kit on an otherwise completely stock 07 camry.

With that many miles that’s a really good price. At those miles you really just wanna see a good general maintenance/ownership history. Overall the 3.0T is a really solid engine, same with the 8 speed auto.

I feel the e90s design is way more modern than the e46. Put side by side with today’s cars, the e90 would look less out of place. Also i heard the e90’s interior build quality is very solid.

You’ve been watching too many Chris Harris videos. At the speeds you’re driving “lifting mid corner” only results in the front end mildly tucking in. The chassis is so forgiving it’s easy to make a correction even on the limit.
@BuzzytheBlue18 күн бұрын
I don’t watch car content but good guess I suppose. To add clarity, I should’ve said don’t “suddenly” lift with the car loaded up mid corner. Im also obviously not concerned it’s going to step out while driving 6/10ths for a video. A forgiving chassis doesn’t mean you should build bad habits, I’ve had front engine cars get very upset by a big lift mid corner on track.

I really like how you presented this video - the line that "most people are going to know which is for them, almost right away" is representative of how many audiences the B8 platform pleases. My pick for 'Best B8' would be the one in my driveway, the S5 4.2 6MT. It offers a third combination of the ingredients that make the S4 and the RS5 so enjoyable: it has an RS4-derived 32V V8 that is free of the timing guide issues that plagued the 40V engines of the older B6/B7 S4s, a manual transmission, and a strong value proposition as they can be had for less than a 3.0T S4. The tradeoffs are real-world performance that is slightly below a stock S4, the same dead-end tunability of the RS5, and it certainly does not have the full character of an 8000+ rpm RS engine. All that said, the S5 stood out to me as a much more attainable alternative to a B7 RS4, since a manual transmission is a must for me. It still has a sonorous high revving V8, even if it doesn't match the performance and character of the RS cars. It also benefits dynamically with the optional sport diff that never was equipped to the B7 RS4. It may not be all that fast compared to any S car since, but I still smile every time I wind the 4.2 out to over 7000 rpm. It's a great car that I couldn't say no to for the price. There's something unique about the B8 Audi platform when compared to the older generations of Audi or competitors like BMW: the wide variety of character between the different enthusiast powertrain options let you choose a car that suits needs in a way that didn't feel like you missed out if you didn't buy the top of the line model. You might enjoy tuning an S4 more than hopping in an RS5, or in my case you could enjoy the manual V8 combination reminiscent of the B7 RS4.
@BuzzytheBlue20 күн бұрын
Very true, it’s part of why I made a video explaining why I thought the E90 was the “best” generation of 3-Series. In the states you could have a classic, naturally aspirated inline-6, a twin turbo six, or the wild NA V8 of the M3. All with choice of auto vs manual transmissions. The transitionary period of cars of the B8 and E90 era meant we got a lot of very distinct flavors in one generation. Hadn’t really happened prior and won’t happen again. Also good point on the S5, really a best of both worlds option for folks like yourself.

Thanks for the video! I'm finally in position where I can afford either Cayman 981S or 718S. From what I read and also what people who actually drives these cars (journos, driving instructors) it seems like the 718 is better car in pretty much every way, except for the engine sound. And I love the sound of the 6cylinder in 981. But overall package of the 718 despite of the 4 cylinder is also really tempting. And I'm torn and don't know what i want more :) However I want to do some track days because I'm living just few km away from Brno Race track. And not far away is Slovakia Ring. Or RedBull Ring :-) And suddently some more performance is needed. However I still didn't decide. One day I'm like "OK I'm totally getting the 981". Next day it's 718... :-D

E46 325xi was the best engine, with the same compression ratio as the M3 S54 engine, but a 700cc handicap, which gives better fuel economy. The M54 seems more reliable, and the 2.8 and 3.0 liter engines are a waste to swap in, when the original 2.5 block is already more power than most people could handle.

As a challenger owner now on my second car, this is a very real world and honest review. In my opinion the 6-speed manual is a must. The car is brilliant in many ways, although heavy it doesn't feel heavy. I put a mild 93 octane tune with a simple Diablo tuner, (not sure if this is available for the Scat) but simple mods really wake these cars up. This review is as honest as it gets, the smiles are truly non-voluntary. I forgot to mention I sold my first Challenger in March, and missed it nearly right away, buying a scat 6 months later. My first Challenger I owned for 10 trouble for years. Proper oil changes in good gas is all she takes

These cars are for the more refined individual that has gotten past the ridiculousness of the "need for speed." To do everything well like the LC, is a way more accomplished feat than any car that's just fast. 9 out of 10 times, a fast car has only that as it's claim to fame. The LC 500 is so versatile and equally particular in it's craftsmanship and materials, it's laughable to compare anything to it! From my past ownership of BMW's, Corvette, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati...my 2018 LC is the clear overall champ, and it ain't even close.
