Really useful thanks. So my takeaway from this is that the square format, being a strong shape, lends itself to compositions with graphically powerful elements, whatever the subject matter; people, architecture, landscapes…

Thank you, and you're welcome! I would agree with that. I feel like some people are intimidated by it being unusual vs. the narrower formats we see more frequently.

I have a pack of Polacolor 59 expired 1999. I guess I could rescue the color negative by following your method. But how develop it? I doubt it is C41. I wondering if somebody tried revetting the chemical packs of these packs. Maybe a short soak in distilled water of the pouches containing the chemicals? Or maybe by steaming them?

I have a nice wide "hippy" strap on mine, you hardly notice it hanging from your neck. It's a wonderful camera with a sharp lens. The meter used mercury batteries so you need the new ones put out now which have little different voltage so I matched the speed with my handheld light meter. It's about a stop off, so just increase the exposure by lowering the ISO setting on the camera by a stop, if that doesn't work for you measure it yourself.

I picked up one of these a few years ago. It is so sturdy and I know that is sounds strange, but if just feels like a camera. I love the nearly silent click of the shutter, and you didn't mention it, but the sound of the timer is so cool. I mainly use my cameras on vacation. My family goes a little crazy with all the photos that I take (on my Sony digital camera) I want to shake it up a bit on our next trip to Japan. I also have DJI pocket 2, for videos and I am thinking about just using that to document the trip and keep my eye out for awesome photos using this camera that is hanging around my neck. Getting the photos developed after the trip will be fun. I tried it on a recent trip to San Francisco and I find myself looking at the actual print photos of that trip from this camera, more than I would go back and look at my instagram photos.

Print is so underrated! Even small prints just look so much better than anything on a phone ... and phones are stupendously nice these days. Something about having it in your hands is so nice, and it's such a full sensory experience without notifications coming up or the urge to swipe over to something else. Now that you mention it, old school self-timers are seriously undervalued, too. Thank you for watching and commenting!

It's possible, but I found what I did to be pretty simple and I got more frames out of it in the end. Those rolls were too short. It would be interesting to shoot something with proper sprocket holes on it, and then I would do the paper so I could enjoy the full frame.

@@JamieMPhoto ah, but that's part of the fun of an 828 camera! Knowing that you have to get every shot *just right*. That way I can always get *just the right amount* in addition to being able to bulk load in my normal cartridges :3

Ok your 1940s film noir got me to like and subscribe. Now if you want to expand your audience you really must do a monochrome 1950s sci fi . Something like ...The film from Out of Space... ( I know, I know, it's a gag ) . Also Amber must be your female lead and she must have a believable 1950s hairstyle. Now get to it and show us all what you can do . Very best wishes to all involved ( loved the music by the way) Jake Everyman.

Hi, thank you to share your experience. I've a question, how do you find with the focus considering the space occupied by the Lomo? Is the position comfortable, can you still see well through the range/viewfinder? Thank you!
@JamieMPhoto5 ай бұрын
Hello, and thank you! I have no basis of comparison between it and shooting how the camera was intended to be used, but I can say that though it takes a minute to get used to, the camera handles well and focusing isn't much of a pain. I also have learned composing with the slight crop to be fairly easy. Overall, the "bulge" of the Lomograflok has very little influence on the process, and it feels surprisingly well integrated. I imagine the less destructive newer conversion methods might be even better.

I am kind of surprised there's not some kind of more viable alternative because it truly is just two heavy rollers with a motor or hand crank. Even with the tiny market it, it seems like someone could cook up something. And since it costs the same as a typical box of 8x10 film now, it's somehow more accessible. I have a 300mm Fuji lens, but also have a 240 Sinar/Rodenstock lens. The 240 covers and has faster shutter speeds, so it's a nice and relatively cheaper alternative. The 300 is amazing, though, and still doesn't cost a ton ($500-ish I think). And thank you!
