Very cool. I think you're right about younger shooters looking for imperfections. I mostly satisfy that itch using old lenses. Since moving I don't have space to set up any kind of darkroom and all my stuff is in storage so I'm living the film life vicariously.

Aw, yeah. Old lenses definitely play a good role in that! I managed to get a pretty good kitchen sink routine down at one point, so that might be worth investigating. I still use my sink sometimes for stand developing, actually.

Love the colors on this Adox film, but those light leaks took it next level - Happy accidents!

Thank you! Yes! That's definitely why I'll sometimes crack the back open early. Risky, but when you get good leaks ...

Love all the fun clips in this video! Such good photos, and the light leaks are great, lucky that! Definitely agree with you on the looking for more imperfect stuff as digital has become so clinical now.

Thank you!! The NASA archives are fun. :) I also enjoy intentionally opening the back early sometimes. Haha. And thank you for watching and commenting!

Great results, I must admit I haven't shot any more Color Mission since 400D landed, but it's winter here so I need the extra speed! Loved seeing your lighting set up Jamie, I have a Godox AD400 I'm keen to take on location and shoot with.

That makes sense! I'm still regretting not early birding more 35mm 400D, but I have one more roll that probably won't last another week ... And that's great! I have the AD600, too, but I don't take it out a ton because I rarely shoot assisted so I wind up killing flashes a little too often. ha ha. I like that 360 since it's strong enough for general use but is barely harder to carry around than a speedlight. No one needs to see how trashed it is, though ...😅 Thank you!!

I liked those wide lens portraits at the beginning. Very much into that distortion )) Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on Adox someday. Funny enough I even checked their actual store in Berlin when I was there and it was sold out of course, even though the website showed it in stock 😭

Aww, bummer about the film stock thing ... I hope you can get some from a place like Freestyle, or a helpful person, soon! And thank you! I enjoy wide angle portraits a lot. :)

Personally I think the allure to shooting expired film is trying out a film stock that no longer exists. With that said I would never pay way overprice for what was once sold at discount from camera stores back in the day. The one and only exception to this is pack film, I think many people would agree that expired Fujifilm FP-100C/FP-300B/FP-100B is just one of those things that you have to try at some point same goes with Polaroid 669/690/665/667, and these are just a vibe that you are looking for specifically.

Agreed about trying out stocks that aren't around anymore, but I still only care about that if I know it's cold I got some E100 alternative 220 recently that had been kept well, but it was a complete surprise. I got some Portra 400 NC along with it, and it's a lot grainier. So it's not really like shooting fresh at all. I could justify someone paying $20+ for proven cold stock 400 NC, but I wouldn't pay more than $10 for expired. I shot a ton of FP when it was still a thing, so I am not sure what the limit I'd place on it if I had never shot it before ... Thank you for watching and commenting!

Nice touch, the film canister blasting off into space at the end of the video. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos: take note.

Haha, I was hoping people would make it to that part. Thank you, and I definitely agree they should take note!

This is the second time, in as many weeks, that I've been reminded of that Brian Eno thought on why we use old technology. We're drawn to it because of it's flaws. www.goodreads.com/quotes/649039-whatever-you-now-find-weird-ugly-uncomfortable-and-nasty-about

Maybe break the cliché of middle aged white male shooting beautiful half dressed women? Nice looking film though.
@JamieMPhoto2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the film is great and she definitely had no agency in dressing herself or being in the photographs. I forgot to check if anyone in the audience was in 1950, though. Apologies.
