I never missed them, even in the 90’s in 40’s. They could have saved them. They needed to get the FCC to allow 5 mins of educational programs in every half hour. So they could keep the shows at 20 mins. The FCC killed them by cutting down how many commercials they could have. So they needed more cartoons with less ad money. That’s why the Commercials were made so entertaining because they had 10 mins per half hour.

Does Louie the Lapin look and sound like the villain Eggs Benedict in the 1965 pilot (pullet?) film of "Super Chicken"? Both characters were voiced by Paul Frees. 👍🤔

Is the District Commissioner's first name 'Percy' or 'Alistair ' as he is referred to in the "Treasure of Sarah Madre" episode? And does George have six toes on his left foot when the witch doctor gave him a hot foot? 🤔

When Fred refers to Super Chicken as "Cassius", he is referring to Muhammad Ali, whose real name is Cassius Clay, and who was in jail for refusing to be drafted to fight in the Vietnam War at the time that this cartoon first aired. 🙁

Narrated by the great unmistakable voice actor Hans Conried!! Funny how June Foray used the same voices for Ursula and Rocket J. squirrel

I find it funny how Shep is able to trumpet like a proper elephant by the end of the episode (here, George’s stubborn belief that Shep is a giant dog stems from Shep having a call different from the other elephants) and yet George still believes in episodes afterwards that Shep is still a “great big peanut loving poochie”.

Fun Fact: The Maltese Duck is a parody of the Maltese Falcon, and the real Maltese Falcon statue from the movie was later owned (in March of 1977) by rock star Alice Cooper!

By the time George of the Jungle was greenlit, Hans Conried was too busy lecturing on Shakespeare at universities, and was unable to narrate. The role was taken over by Paul Frees.

The villain's name is "Jerry Mander"? OUCH! For those of you who don't know, "gerrymandering" involves the dividing of a state or county into election districts so as to give one political party a majority in many districts while concentrating the voting strength of the other party into as few districts as possible. It's named for Elbridge Gerry of MA, whose party redistribute the state in 1812, and "salamander", because the map of Essex County, MA, supposedly resembled one after the redistricting. 🦎
