I used to get so overwhelmed when reading B/B passages and even after finishing the practice FLs, i couldn't understand why i got some questions wrong. This strategy is GAME-CHANGING. I went over the B/B sections of my past FLs using this strategy and it literally became SO MUCH EASIER to answer the questions!! Thank you so much for this video!

Should we use these same strategies for Chem/Phys?
@EightfoldMCATАй бұрын
Chem/Phys is more straightforward than Bio/Biochem but the same general approach shown here works really well in that section too. If you still find yourself struggling with Chem/Phys then it is likely coming down to content gaps, trouble with some of the step by step problems common to physics and chemistry, for example finding an oxidation number, or an inability to recognize the more subtle ways the MCAT hints at content material in questions.

Slow down your mouth. You are hard to follow because you talk too fast.
@EightfoldMCATАй бұрын
I definitely do end up talking a bit fast in some of these videos. I have gotten similar comments on other videos and when I get started making videos again I am planning on being more mindful of how fast I’m talking. If you find the videos a bit to fast YT does have an option to slow them down so they are at a better speed for you.
@Kencan254Ай бұрын
@@EightfoldMCAT Thanks, for the suggestion. Yes, slowing down the speed helps. When are you planning to post more MCAT videos? My exam is on September 13th, 2024.
I've watched so many MCAT videos in the past year but this is by far the best channel.

Hopefully it made the MCAT seem a lot more manageable. I know this test can be really confusing and feel impossible at times.

Quick question! Want to preface real quick that I'm LOVING your videos so far. I was wondering about the Question #2 in this video on the enzyme not needed. I was wondering, in case this comes up in the exam, if one should assume mRNA is already available, or if it has to be transcribed (hence needing RNA polymerase to get the final recombinant DNA product). Also, since Reverse transcriptase has DNA polymerase activity, can it turn the ssDNA into dsDNA? Thanks again for making these videos, they're honestly THE best quality I've come across so far.
@EightfoldMCATАй бұрын
Sorry for the slow response to this. Go ahead and assume the mRNA is present. Reverse transcriptase can generate dsDNA by itself but for questions like this (it’s based on an AAMC one) don’t overthink the content too much or get super lost in the details. Think about what makes sense with the flow of the question when taken simply. Generally the correct answers on the MCAT tend to align with this way of thinking. They really aren’t trying to trick you although it can seem this way if you haven’t done a ton of AAMC material because many third party materials do have gotcha questions.

phenomenal work. I went through the entirety of undergrad bio unable to understand blotting and gel electrophoresis (could not, for the life of me, figure it out). turns out what i was lacking was the foundation and linkage this whole time. you explained to me in <20 minutes (this vid and the gel vid) what i couldn't understand for four years. thank you so much; your channel is a godsend for all the premeds out there!!

Is it necessary or helpful to memorize the structures for the MCAT?
@EightfoldMCAT2 ай бұрын
Yes, although recognition rather than ability to draw them out is more important. I can think of at least two questions on the AAMC practice exams that require this knowledge.

this was very well done. I wasn't understanding this very well, and with my test date approaching, it wasn't looking too great. after watching this, I'm very confident in my understanding -- thanks to you! keep up the amazing work, your straight-to-the-point teaching method is great
