Im still relatively new to hockey and don't really understand how much players are worth in trades. But, instead of trading our valuable pieces like Daccord, McCann or Beniers, what could they get for players with expiring contracts like Gourde, Tanev, Borgen or even Grubauer? Like instead of draft picks, could they try to retain some of their salaries, and try to pick up some hidden gems or just some smaller contracts, or are trades like that hard to do? Instead of a lengthy rebuild based purely on drafting, since we have a solid, young core, I feel like a full on rebuild would be too much, and we just need a slight re-tooling. We got Tolvanen from a waiver claim, Kartye was undrafted, and is on a Entry level contract (was a key player in our playoff run), Daccord was let go by Ottowa, and signed with us for $1.2 million. wouldn't it would be faster to go that route? Like I said, I don't understand what a player is worth in trades so I might be seeing this completely wrong.

As a Canucks fan.. i want to see Seattle do well and build a rivalry with us. Ron Francis needs to go. He builds teams way to conservatively.

I don't think the sharks being given enough credit. We've had a bunch of close games this year even against teams towards the top of the league. I know we're not world beaters by any stretch. But I think we're a bit better than our record suggests. Espescially in this last stretch of games we've been getting better scoring from our defense, and it feels like they've built more chemistry. Not to mention Celebrini was out of the lineup for all but one game in October, and Will Smith is now starting to turn it on. I think we got more to show this season. Also Granlund is a beast!

I'm going to the game against Chicago at the United Center here in a little over two weeks. I am so scared of how this game is going to turn out following this series of games against the Sharks and Ducks. My boyfriend is a Hawks fan so this is a big game for us and I swear if we lose I am never going to hear the end of it. I wonder how much of an impact the injury to Ebs is having on our offensive production and I would also like to know wtf is happening with Gru. Like is he not trying to play as well now that Daccord has kinda gotten the spot light and he feels he can relax or is age catching up to him? He's freshly 33 but there are still older goalies in the league seemingly doing better than him. I don't know. I just scared about this Chicago game🥲

It really seems like basically nobody on the Kraken can shoot. I don't mean they don't take shots, I mean they just can't seem to shoot accurately. It's always wide or right to the goaltender.

100% agree and I've been fighting this battle with people all over the internet. 1st in goals for, 8th in goals against, 1st in goal differential, only 2.88 avg goals against/game, 1st place in the east, 2 place in the whole league, and we are about ONE THIRD of the way through the season. Everyone keeps saying "they can't keep this up" or something to that effect. Dude, how long do they have to be dominant before people just accept that they're good? I seriously think this WHOLE team gets hate all because Ovi is a Russian and well... I don't need to say anything more about that.
@tydrenning6162Күн бұрын
@brandonwells4772 ovechkin has had the Russian stigma his entire career, it's why sid was championed almost like a north American hero their entire careers whenever they beat us. But Ovi's been out for 2 weeks now and the team still has the longest active winning streak in the league, they're not going anywhere (just beat Florida, Tampa, and New Jersey this past week alone)

As a Sharks fan who has Kraken season tickets I’ve enjoyed the Sharks wins but I’m frustrated for Seattle. There is no team identity, defense is sloppy, and there is zero scoring depth from the third and fourth line.

TLDR love the guys, tough to love the team right now I’m sure I’m not the only one who was hoping a coaching change would bring some much needed energy and consistency but it seems like Dan and co have done everything they can to try and get this group going (call ups, healthy scratches, line blenders, etc.) and nothing seems to stick. Any momentum gained is almost immediately lost and the only consistency they had in Joey has been slipping cuz he can’t carry the entire team through the season by himself. It’s hard not to be frustrated when there seems to be no cohesion throughout the lineup and even when players try to step up (Monty, McCann, Wright), the energy doesn’t seem to be there from the rest of the team to sustain them through 20 minutes, let alone 60 minutes. I especially worry how this kind of play might impact Shane’s development, obviously he’s not in the position to be *the* difference maker this season but how can he develop into any sort of difference maker with a lack of support around him? Throw on top rough contracts limiting moves that can be made and it’s feeling harder to get excited about watching this team

My issue is Chandler Stephenson. -10 and more TOI than any other center we have. His passing is terrible. His hustle is terrible. His defense is terrible. Why hasn't he been benched? I don't care that he's gotten points recently - his play this season does not warrant the contract he was given. Nor does it explain taking minutes from Wright's ability to develop at the NHL level. If we're going to lose can we at least get youngsters play time?
@CheapSeatsSports2 күн бұрын
He's been ok to me, reliable to win a faceoff when needed and good in transition. Not worth what he's been paid, but fine. Either way he was out with illness for this game so can't blame him for this one.

@CheapSeatsSports2 күн бұрын
There is the IIHF which has some control of some stuff, but yeah nothing like FIFA. Honestly tho, while it makes it harder to figure out how everything relates to each other, considering everything we know about FIFA I'm ok with not having a powerful controlling body.

I won't fault anyone for liking a player on the team they cheer for. With the exception of, if that player is a totally reprehensible human, but the Kraken don't have any close to fitting that description.
@dadrums2 күн бұрын
Well i disagree with you on grubby has been good enough to win games his .88 save percentage and 3+ GAA say different. He has let in so many soft goals over the 3+ seasons it’s getting ridiculous. He hasn’t had a save percentage above .89 since he’s been here. That’s simply not good enough in this league to get you to the playoffs.
@Skeezle19863 күн бұрын
Ok I'm so over this. I hated the Grubauer pickup on the expansion draft. The only time in the 4 years of this team that he's been ANY KIND OF CONSISTENT was the Playoffs 2 years ago. Other than that IDK WHAT I'M LOOKING AT. He quite literally can't stop a beach ball. 1/2 of those goals leaked through him either in the blocker side or 5 hole. It's like watching peewee hockey. I well and truly wish Phillip Grubauer the best but it's time for him to go. Bylsma WHY DID YOU LEAVE HIM IN TO GIVE UP 8 GOALS. I'm flashing back to Patrick Roy in Montreal when the coach there left him handing high and dry FOR HALF THE GAME. I know we got a back to back but 5 goals given up on 12 shots regardless of where the score was. YANK HIM OUT. He doesn't have it. But you left him hanging in there. NOT COOL. You even said these games we can't afford to lose. WELL GUESS WHAT WE HAVE LOST 66% OF THE GAMES TO THE 2 WORST TEAMS IN THE WEST. THE DUCKS AND THE SHARKS. Where is the fire in your team this is worse than last year or year 1. IDK what I'm looking at
@CheapSeatsSports3 күн бұрын
He's had some good stretches the last couple years but definitely hasn't put together a complete season that is true. He only gave up 7 in this one but yeah as I said it was a horrible performance. As for him being left in by coach I'm quite sure he would've known going in they were saving Joey for the second game unless he got hurt. Considering Joey's workload recently I think that's a fair decision. The only thing I'm really surprised by is that they didn't use the timeout at any point.
@Skeezle19862 күн бұрын
@@CheapSeatsSports but there's always another option. Like put Daccord in after 5 goals. Then send Grubauer down or whatever and call up a rookie goalies to play for a bit to see how he does. Grubauer doesn't have it. And the team consistently looks like they are skating in mud when he's in net. There's no flight, there's no toughness there is no pride in the team. IDK if the players don't like Grubauer or subconsciously they just think they are gonna lose. IDK but someone needs a shake up

I think we need a change to the first line all three of them are mainly shooters and they are struggling to find any offence
@CheapSeatsSports3 күн бұрын
I think of Beniers as more of a play maker than a shooter. He has a great shot but often looks pass first. Burky is pretty much there because someone needs to be and he has a lot of talent they are hoping to spark again. If the scoring dries up again I'd be ok with making a change on that side but they've still been playing well as a line to me. Even though they haven't scored the last couple games they've created opportunities and set up other lines to score.
@Skeezle19865 күн бұрын
So a few things I've learned from the last 2-5 games. Daniel Sprong though is a great shooter with a wicked wrist shot and one timer. He's utterly useless in pick carrying and defence. So yeah that's no help to anything but the Power Play and offensive zone. #2 what are the referees looking at. That jerk who is one of the duck Goons didn't "blow a tire" no he ABSOLUTELY LAID DOWN on his own to crash into Daccord. He's got a history of steamrolling goalies or impeding them. HOW WAS THAT NOT A PENALTY also with the uselessness of the PP I don't think the team could have scored but hey let's try a 5th time. Burakovsky sure looks different. Maybe that tic tac toe goal he got a couple games ago helped him which is awesome now we need the other 2 on his line to get in gear. Beniers and McCann. Beniers in particular we don't have Dunn or Eberle for a while. TIME TO WAKE UP OTHER 18 SKATERS. Kartye, Gourde, and Tanev can't carry the teams scoring. As much as we would love them to they are not the offensive dynamos. They set the tone as the "identity line" now the rest need to get in gear like YESTERDAY that is if you wanna go to the post seasons or even threaten to. If you don't then let's just TANK SUPER HARD and get the first round pick. Better make a choice QUICK PLAYERS you wanna compete or do you wanna suck. Those are your choices.
@Gauweezy5 күн бұрын
3 PP goals all Nov. Horrible. 0/5 On the PP especially against a very poor PK. And the unanswered pounding that Kartye took is inexcusable. This makes the Sharks Home and Home must win games.
@CheapSeatsSports4 күн бұрын
Agreed on all fronts. There are teams that can get away with sub par PP and win but the Kraken aren't one of them. If they want to be in the race late in the season this needs to get turned around.
