I started playing on August 24th, 2012.. missed maybe 7 days over the life of the game. I am enjoying your insights of things I take for granted... even though I have over 20 world completions that were completed before mounts and level-80 boosters came into the game, I can appreciate your dedication to not use them in the 2024 world of Guild Wars 2. I have more time spent in pvp, than in the open world. I would see pvp as more of a brawl rather than something competative. I have leveled all of the other classes from just rewards from pvp. It's to the point that for me, the true endgame is the pvp rather than pve activities. 1v1 against a tanky class is difficult even when playing a tanky class. Running the objective and 2v1 others is generally safe. Focusing on kills is important. But I tend to focus on pressuring the other team off objectives. This will seem ironic, but I think killing other players isn't really fun for both parties. I would rather have a good fight. Another common thing is that fast classes roam more and do objectivs.

I started playing GW1 back in the 2000's. Never looked back. WoW just didn't get it. Many still don't. GW2 is deep.

I think they purposefully left the base game leveling experience and drown you with ways to skip straight to expansions on purpose. Not saying it's right, I'm just saying maybe don't force it. Base game was fun at launch, but outside of map completion for rewards, there really isn't a reason to level this way in 2024. Love the videos though, always a good laugh. And yes PVP and WVW are a hell of a drug when you are tired of cut scenes and farming nodes etc

I don't recall that *boosting* completes any story for you. Does it? I think you can access any expansion content, and any Living World season content, but I don't believe it actually completes, say, Zhaitan for you? Might be wrong there, but I'd be very surprised. XD

Yeah, actually *leveling* from 1 to 80 only matters insofar as that it gives you a chance to get to know your abilities and weapons. Once you have a grasp of what your character can do and aren't going to get nearly so overwhelmed by unlocking all of the base trait lines, then you might as well skip ahead. It's not like it damages your ability to play the story. I repeat. Being level 80 does not lock you out from accessing any story.

The only PvP i am interested in this game is WvW. The experience is mildly similar when you go solo or in a small group and you need to grind your gear before going in unless you wish to become easy prey. BUT when you are at least full exotic and go Zerging to raid the entire damn map, that's where shit gets really fun, specially with a competent commander that doesn't yell at each loss.

Heya dude your video actually got me to try this shit game. You do not get to keep the mount you get for "free". Compared to ffxiv this "free" triall is a complete cash grab. Outside of that bs the game is grindy and boring af.

I started playing GW2 last week with a free account, to revisit what I tried in the closed beta I tried like.. a decade ago.. so a week after I reached lv80 and probably will stop playing but.. it was .. great! Even if i'm sure i didnt get 80% of how to play and I probably freaking suck, I see a lot of great ideas games like WoW and FFXIV could have used (I'm a 10k+ hours ffxiv players). At the same time, there are a few things I didnt enjoy, but hey, i only visited the base game, maybe expansions are freaking good, but idk. I would not STAY, but i didnt hate it at all, I've had a great week grinding it!

The bad: the story has gotten worse over time. The dungeons by in large are not super memorable. The game wants you to get to max level and grind and pay for content packs.

The thing about Guild Wars 2 is that it is a good game, not just a good MMO. It's fun without having to consider all the MMO tropes, while still giving you those if you want them.

This game is alright but it's getting a little harder to get into the more you get into it. For one just give me a fuking mount my god why whyyyyyyyy can't I just have one as a f2p? 100% you turn away more people that would end up paying for dlc later down the road by not giving them a mount. Yes some people will just go buy dlc for a mount but with a game like this giving someone a whole ass other exp worth of content on top of everything they have to learn about the base game is just going to push more people away. Pvp they say gear doesn't matter but does it? Some people seem to take no damage and will kill me in like 2 hits? Umm lets see oh crafting, this crafting is crazy you got to make like 50 things to make 1 thing and all 50 things to make that 1 thing takes like 30 steps. All their little coins to buy gear and sets with there is so much to learn and they kind of speed you along to 80 and then try to drop like 4 dlc's worth new stuff to learn and farm I've been playing like 9 hours and I'm already level 43.

Honestly all they have to do is reverse the moronic decision they made when they decided to break up the base game story every 10 level's. When they game first released we didn't have to take these massive breaks between story chapters. We just had to make it to the next location to continue the story. By the time you grind out the levels to get to the next part of the story as it is now, you half forget what you were even supposed to be doing and you forgot the characters to the point where you just don't care. Also the story wasn't so back loaded to the point where half the base game story was only available at level 80. Story used to be better scaled enough where you could just play through the story without needing to grind and you would still hit level 80 by the end of the base games story.

I will be honest... I've been fighting with all my might to not give GW2 a proper try. It really felt weird for me back in the day when I have tried it for the first time. Like... it was missing something. Roze's channel has changed that. I am now giving it a proper try and enjoying it. So thank you, Roze! PS. I love your sense of humour. And all the fuming reactions at them out there makes it all even better. The joke about centaurs made me cry out of laughter :D (Yes, this is a message coming from a woman). 1:28 "Pretentious for not looking like any furry race" Dude. Please. I WISH any god damn game would have actual furries instead of dozens of improvised elf cosplays. I have NEVER seen a race that look like furries that you can play as. Fucking dating sims don't count. You don't see a Ratchet or Rayman-ich race. It's either girl with cat ears or bare bones egyptian god themed human costume. You rarely even see the latter. To me 99.99% of game's playable races are like Perfect World. You might as well not have any. You can count two games that don't have furries. I can count less that has genuine design NOT based on humans. FFS the Norn are just how the Ottomans described north vikings. How is that a different race. Let me at least play Turian from Mass Effect or the Sangheili "elites" from Halo. Why not mushroom race? Look up mushrooms and you get a sea of inspiration for grotesque or beautifully colourful designs and ideas. Fungi aren't even flora so they can be different from plant creatures for the nerds out there. But if it's a human design, why not really mess it up artistically. Remember Zelda Twilight Princess? The imp girl named Midna? Make a race that different. Different patterns, facial features, body parts that has no reason. She has curved parts around her neck like a coat. It makes no sense but it's cool. It's funny though. "Least played race profession combo" by their chart it's basically any profession as anything that isn't human. It's almost like human people don't like creativity. Maybe they should make the Sly Cooper movie live action with real life people playing the parts then. Is that what you reddit gremlins want!

I got to tell you as someone with 2 accounts and having levelled over 20 characters, mostly Sylvari, I still love the story, even if it's feeling repetitious. It's a story that matures into very deep moral and ethical dilemmas, like Aurene having to kill her own grandfather?! What a way to turn victory into a funeral. You may be undervaluing the Black Lion Chest keys you get a certain intervals. So many of us keep one character slot for leveling up a new toon once a week, (or so), for the purpose of getting Black Lion Chest keys.

My problem is I am in LOVE with WoWs characters and story. Atleast classic WoW. Don't get me wrong dragon flight was amazing to me. Shadowlands tho... yeah. I can't get into the guild wars lore. Horde vs Alliance is just so cool to me. This is my opinion tho. Looks like a solid game
