The top few segments of the sliding lid in my MG3 have fallen off and disappeared into the void under the cubby. I could not figure how to get access to the void but now I can with the help of your video. I suppose the lid is not repairable so can I have yours?!

I understand that the catalyser is just below the exhaust manifold. Have you done a video on how to replace the catalyser? Is a job that can be done at home? How much is a new catalyser, on average?
@pistonbroke9 күн бұрын
@@derekporter7651 Cat and manifold are all in one. I haven't done a video on this specifically but if you go through my vids there's a few part series where I strip the engine, can't remember if I filmed removing the manifold or not but it may give you an idea. Anything can be done at home, all depends on what you're capable of. No idea on cost.

Hi Can clutch be adjusted
@kevinwarr718812 күн бұрын
Thanks for that brilliant
@gmathieson718412 күн бұрын
When you drop the gearbox out how hard of a job is it to then replace the clutch? I got an MG3 back in april this year, its a 2018 vti form start stop or something like that, but the start stop hasn't worked since i got it but it never bothered me... it sometimes makes a whirring noise... now its weird because i've tried researching and seen something about the start stop pump making a noise when its not working... so i've been turning that off at the start of every drive (just incase it was playing a part), I give the car a moment to clear all its ignition lights before full ignition, when i do this and drive like a normal human being i do not hear the noise. However, if i'm in say a little rush i've left something at home and i've had to return to the street perform a quick 3 pt turn then the car will start making the whirring noise again... sometimes its there while the clutch is depressed, sometimes the opposite, so im not sure if its like a pump engaging/disengaging whilst im using the clutch... or if its the release bearing... how concerned i should be etc... as it feels perfectly fine... just this occasional nosie. I can see clutch kits on ebay for £90, this job may be within my uncle skill set... do you think it sounds more like a clutch issue? or some other pump or something else? i do feel the steerings kind of heavy but it doesn't sound like a power steering pump. im a total noob and i think i maybe should have stuck to cheap runarounds because im sure the timing chains going to need done too... heck maybe thats why its making the noise.

@dougbrightshue931715 күн бұрын
If you select obd2 I suspect you would see actual values rather than open/close. And if you tap the right side drop down arrow in the diagnosis section it likely would open data for that pid.

Long beep when selecting reverse means there's a fault. It's usually one or more of the sensors.

I did a Pug 308 yesterday, with Bosch rear brakes just like this. 2 nightmares: On one side the two big splined bolts holding the disc carrier were seized solid on a 6 year old car. Had to use heat and a breaker bar to shift them. I thought they were about to strip on every tiny rotation which took all my effort 😱 Two hours of horror! The other side just unscrewed by hand once loosened, exactly as per the video! There are retaining springs on each end of the pads on the Pug. They are horrible, fiddly and annoying. The longest part of the installation. I wonder why they aren’t fitted here??? I took the EPB motor off while the caliper was still on the car. You then don’t need to disconnect the electric cable to it, and can just lay it on top of the disc. Easier, tbh. And a tiny smear of coppaslip grease on all the appropriate points wouldn’t hurt. Either way, a great instructional video, thanks indeed!

Hello, Ive had a similar issue with with an MG GS. Do you know if this is a similar issue? Any advise would be very much appreciated Many Thanks
@pistonbrokeАй бұрын
No, GS has a concentric slave, it's a different setup to the 3. Check for leaks on all the clutch hydraulic pipe joints, any misting of brake fluid on the joints meant it'll draw air in. Lubricate the clutch pedal pivot points with spray grease. I've seen master cylinders fail on these too.

Long time, my man! On the live data, is it only showing open/closed for the MG? Like, if you plug it into another brand of car will it give you numbers? Like you said, seems like a nice bit of kit! Take care.

It more than likely would be different for other brands, I've not tried it yet though
@markslade9722Ай бұрын
Good review mate and long time no see. Good that it covers saic mg. But like you said, strange that live data shows no figures, just open or close. My main go to tool is my delphi ds150e, but unfortunately it does not cover the saic mg. So about 18 months ago my neighbour bought a 2018 mg zs. So I had to look around for some gear. I finally decided on the topdon artidiag 800BT and find it great for the price, and also includes free updates for life. So many diag scanners to choose from now on the market.
@pistonbrokeАй бұрын
What I should have done was used the obd live data, it would give the figures.
@markslade9722Ай бұрын
@pistonbroke ah right, nice one. I would imagine it would also have a graph view and you could load like up to about four different items at a time to view. My topdon shows figures also for live data when under the designated ECU, but it was a little more in price than the xtool you have here. Great that you get free updates for life, so don't have to worry about yearly subscription costs.
