Great video, I always like to see things being done right. I was here to see a rear wheel sensor bracket as mine seems to have disappeared with corrosion , I wondered if its its part of the rear hub. I`ve got all the lights on too as the sensor is out ( no way to secure it). What do I do ?
@pistonbroke17 сағат бұрын
It's a common thing for the clip to rust off. You need to replace the complete hub as it all comes as one.

I like the tool you used to compress the piston, I have a similar one but it's not air compressed like yours. May I ask where you purchased yours from?

Hello, I'm confused of your "flat battery" comment. If battery was bad why it could engage parking brake fine but couldn't release it? I'm getting the exact same issue you got at the end... The parking brake can engage fine every time (even after pulling the manual release cable), but when I press the Parking brake button down to release it doesn't do anything (no grinding noise), if I hold the button down for several seconds then a warning "Parking Brake Fault" comes on. The fault goes away if I turn the car off and back on. There is no persistent code. My battery is fine.
@pistonbroke3 күн бұрын
Because when I put the brake on, the ignition was off. When I tried to release the brake, the ignition was on. The battery being under voltage combined with the ignition being on caused a huge volt drop. The fault code in the epb module says it all.

Hi there...thanks for this video...I have exactly this problem and have replaced the fuse but it is sopping wet under the carpet. Am I right in thinking the DC DC converter is under the front passenger footwell? What does the unit do other than the start/stop function? I would like to know what I would lose if I bypass it as suggested until I can get a new unit.
@pistonbroke4 күн бұрын
It's under the passengers seat. Stop/start will still work if it is bypassed. What it does is during a stop/start restart it prevents the instrument cluster from doing a self test like it does when you first start it and it stops the radio and heater from going off and back on. All this would only happen if the battery voltage drops low enough during a restart.
@NigelPettit-e6f3 күн бұрын
@@pistonbroke Do I assume you mean under the FRONT passenger seat? In other comments you state that it can be left bypassed long term...does this mean I just lose the start stop function but everything else works as usual? Sorry but would need to clarify....thanks again and best regards Nigel
@pistonbroke3 күн бұрын
If you actually watched the video you'll see exactly where it is and if you read my last reply you'll see that I said the stop/start will still work when it's bypassed and I even went to the trouble of explaining what it does.

Brilliant video, thanks. So Android Auto indeed functions wirelessly, maps, music etc? I imagine music mutes when a call comes in as well? Have you had to deal with Atoto for any reason? Good support?
@pistonbroke5 күн бұрын
@@cpkdude it's all wireles but you can have it wired if you want so it charges your phone as well. yes music will mute when phone rings. Never had to call support so I can't comment on that. Their products are brilliant. I've since upgraded this to an Atoto S8 and it's absolutely awesome.

@pistonbroke - I'm putting one in an old, FIAT X19, and wondered about the dimmer/headlight wiring. What do you think, just manually run pin 1 to the headlight on/off switch? That would be cool
@pistonbroke4 күн бұрын
Run the illumination wire to the side light circuit. Wire it to one of the switches that lights up when the side lights are on.

I have only just seen your video, so I presume someone has told you since, that a 50/50 mixture of Transmission Fluid and Acetone is reported to be the best to unstick stubborn parts. Also Alloy and steel being dissimilar metals, vinegar or tomato sauce if not able to soak in vinegar. These are old school remedies before commercial products. Which don’t often work as good.

You should never leave your calliper hanging by the brake line and the calliper bracket should be torqued to specs and lock tight used on the bolts as well to retract the piston with a C clamp and a piece of metal on the back of the motor to prevent it from cracking the casing.

I had to do this job on our mark 8 5 years ago after the bolts sheared off on the hub that hold the hafshaft so the halfshaft walked out of the diff. No need to take the bearing apart. and yes the bolts are stretch bolts The correct torque is 68 NM then 90 degrees. They sheared off because someone in the past tightened them to the wrong torque. Have the do the same job soon after 40,000 miles.
