I did swear a bit when I found the cage didn't fit the facia. Didn't take long to modify it though.

I’ve just bought one of these for an MG3 I’m picking up tomorrow! Glad I saw your video before fitting it. Gonna wire in the steering wheel buttons to it so should work nice

I like the idea of one of these fancy head units. But then I see all the wires, interface leads, programming etc, I decide to just stick with what I’ve got 😂😂
@pistonbroke Жыл бұрын
It really isn't as difficult as it looks.

You've heard this addage before, NOTHING VENTURED NOTHING GAINED & consequently that's exactly why you are still using that old head unit!! It's time to lift your level of thinking instead of puting your head in the sand!! If mankind had of stuck to wooden wagon wheels we would never have got punctures!! (yeah right mate) Did you stop to think for a mere moment to have a proper study & a detailed look at the wiring diagram & try to visualise exactly where the different wires actually go instead of just giving it a casual glance??? I concede it may well have looked daunting but "GOD ALMIGHTY" never said life was going to be a piece of cake for mankind!! If you can afford to possibly consider buying a new head unit, you can also afford to pay for someone to install it for you as well!! Surely you have male friends who have some experience in these matters & who could possibly help you!! Your problem is you need to want to help yourself first instead of crying wolf & saying, woe is me & expecting people to fall all over you!! Continue to enjoy that antique radio you have installed & been using for sometime!! On a positive note sadly you'll never know or experience what you are missing out on with regard to the awesome features found on most modern car radio head units these days!! Just for the record, there is still plenty of sand down at the local beach in which to bury your head & your negative thinking!!

If you have the radio playing and connect Apple Carplay, will the radio keep playing, or does it stop the radio. I recently had a cheap radio that could play the radio or Carplay, but not both. Thanks.

Thanks for making this, any idea what the height of the screen is ? 5” diagonal, what about from bottom bezel edge to top bezel edge ? Thank you
@pistonbroke11 ай бұрын
82mm or 3¼ inches from top bezel to bottom bezel

How much clearance does this unit have? I mean between the back of the unit and the dash itself. Because where the upper part of the screen is, in my car (vw up), there is a knob for the incoming air. Can the unit be placed more outwardly?
@pistonbroke6 ай бұрын
Not much. It could be moved forward with a spacer. I don't know what your dash looks like so best check the measurements on Atotos website

Brilliant video, thanks. So Android Auto indeed functions wirelessly, maps, music etc? I imagine music mutes when a call comes in as well? Have you had to deal with Atoto for any reason? Good support?
@pistonbroke6 ай бұрын
@@cpkdude it's all wireles but you can have it wired if you want so it charges your phone as well. yes music will mute when phone rings. Never had to call support so I can't comment on that. Their products are brilliant. I've since upgraded this to an Atoto S8 and it's absolutely awesome.

@pistonbroke - I'm putting one in an old, FIAT X19, and wondered about the dimmer/headlight wiring. What do you think, just manually run pin 1 to the headlight on/off switch? That would be cool
@pistonbroke6 ай бұрын
Run the illumination wire to the side light circuit. Wire it to one of the switches that lights up when the side lights are on.

@@pistonbroke- got it working, thanks. Everything about it is pretty cool for the $$, except for two things, which maybe you have an answer for. 1) phone mic quality. It kinda sucks. I can hear people well, but they say I sound kinda lousy, cuts in and out, muffled. Nowhere near as good as my outgoing Kenwood. 2) General sound quality. DAC’s sound middling, not super-clean, a little ‘crunchy’. Are you hearing the same thing? Bluetooth sounds worse than USB, but even that is disappointing. Thoughts? Thanks
@pistonbroke6 ай бұрын
@@cpkdude i've not had problems with the audio quality. My phone mic sounded crap so I moved the mic to different locations and it made it better.

Hello mate, with the rear USB plug is that possible to plug in a dab radio adapter in to? BTW loving the videos on the MG3 loved the later dash install 😎
@pistonbroke8 ай бұрын
No mate, that is for a usb stick or connecting to your phone. This unit doesn't support DAB.

Interested in grabbing one myself for my Suzuki Alto. How is it holding up, any issues so far? Also, how is the sound quality? Cheers!
@pistonbroke11 ай бұрын
Bloody brilliant, I've had no issues at all with it since fitting it and the audio quality is as good as any other decent head unit. Link in the description will give you a bit of discount.
