Transformar Ultima Onilne en 3D es destruir el juego , el 2D es lo que hace posible UO ser el mejor MMORPG de todos los tiempos.

UO was great. A lot of players, like me, just moved on to the next big MMO. Many moved on to DAoC, EQ, SWG, then eventually WoW.

The game had captured some of my interest as of late. About the same points still apply after 5 years. The Practice and drip feed resources are all that really keep me remotely invested as a casual. My thoughts are that casuals just want to play Quake. But Quake had taken on this reputation of a game you have to "work in order to play" by pushing the skill ceiling higher and higher, and no casual wants to work that hard. A reputation only compounded by the monetization scheme. The fast-paced and simplistic shooter gameplay is still there to be enjoyed. But wading through the tedium of server load times, multiplayer-limitations, and the skill-wall created over decades of series legacy makes it a tough bar to chew and savour.

Rampant player killing was the only bad part of UO and the reason I left Origin servers for free shards and I never regretted it.

Loved this game. Bets travel system, such a fun reputation system and skill system was simple but fun to tweak builds with.

Kinda crazy how this video was published 2 days before the community server for MxM launched, 7 years after official servers shut down. This game was (is) is perfect Moba for me, and I hope it gains some traction moving into the future.

"sandbox" mmo devs still talking about optional pvp safe dungeons...how someone can be dumb like that? i love pvp but if someone says to me here is a pvp zone you take risk no reward and here is the pve zone no risk safe farming i choose pve zone.. whats the poin of taking risk? also whats the "optional" pvp ? its basicly duel system you can do it in most of the only pve game. and these days corruption system so popular. whole idea: look this is a sandbox game you can do pvp pk but if you do that game going to punish you and you will get no reward.currently %90 of sandbox mmos just openworld MMORPG. any game allows players to own/build player houses doesnt mean sandbox. i hate meanless gametags like sandboxy sandyboxy. has sandbox elements. this is not like tps fps you cant add sandbox tag to a linear mmorpg game. ppls still calling neworld as a sandbox game. UO has best karma system no need to search better one sandbox mean pvpve it is what is it

When it came out, I was in the Army in a light infantry unit in AK. The game saved me from any sort of cabin fever. It would in turn by my curse, I would play it for the next 20 years, while other folks got out and made careers, I was playing UO. I stopped at one point like 10 years ago when my guild leader died of old age. Hit me right in the midlife crisis.

The biggest problem is simply balance - practically all competitive multiplayer ganes, e.g. Battlefield, Call of Duty, Starcraft, World of Tanks, PUBG etc. will constantly adjust the gameplay to make it balanced, and usually also have some sort of ranking systen to sort players by experience. In most cases they also have very limited ways to boost your stats via equipment or character upgrades - or if you can they limit who you can play with. Most free for all PvP games have very little of that. Lvl 10 player with pretty basic equipement will get ganked by someone 10 levels higher, or someone with significantly better equipment. Its like having World of Tanks allowing a Tier 8 tank into a tier 3 match - theres no challenge, no skill, its simply unbalanced. I think a big problem with PvP MMORPGs is that they try to work like a traditional RPG, mainly based around stats and equipment, with huge differences between the start and the end. I think a much more reasoble system would be more compact leveling and equipment differences, maybe have a tiered world structure, or maybe even have "matches" lasting a couple of weeks and then resetting.

It's dog shit and your support kinda worries me. To sum things up: "when done correctly" is basically trying to justify something (that will probably never happen) when it goes horribly wrong. So theoretical it's sickening. "Games have specific publics" is a dumb argument, go beyond the "target audience" and you'll only build a damn larger community; take WoW and LoL, they grew by trying very hard to attract and maintain people outside their original "category". If you really want your loved game to thrive, support new players. If you are really worried about "casual gaming taking over", you might be missing the point or just "becoming the wrong audience". People will "gatekeep" to maintain their status and power, which is fundamentally wrong; it frequently reflects their reality and opinions, which ends up being just disguised walls. THERE IS NO THREAT, LOL. Take Lost Ark for example. The game is pretty much dead for many reasons, including stupid gatekeeping on newer or creative players; yes, things like "meta builds" and "item score" justify gatekeeping. It falls on developers/publishers to try to educate male white nerds...

I experienced what you're talking about first hand but people never really seemed to agree on it with me. When WoW hit the peak of its sub numbers in WotLK I noticed that more and more people were coming into the game that weren't really interested in MMOs, RPGs or MMORPGs in the first place. They just kinda heard of the game somehow or started playing because they had friends that played. In my particular niche of the game people started playing because they wanted to play PvP arenas and they didn't care about the rest of the game. I was always of the opinion that MMOs should encourage players to want to experience the entire game but we all know how WoW changed and had changed at that time already. That's why I was happy that Classic WoW came back, because Classic WoW was really made for people that like MMOs, RPGs and MMORPGs. Another way to think of it is that developers need to "raise" their playerbase like you raise a child instead of bowing to their every whim. It's your game and your vision so you shouldn't compromise on that. You already made that point in the video too with the quotes from Yoshi P. It's good to see some of what might be a bit of an uncomfortable truth catching on in the MMORPG community after having the same ideas for so long.

The reviews on this and many other games say do not play because of cross play. Allowing PC players in the console world is letting a virus in. They cheat, and the devs allow the cheating. I do not want to play with PC players on shooters. Even if a player is legit, the mouse is more precise for aiming than a controller. Console players all have controllers so we are nerfed in comparison. Let PC play PC, they hate console players anyway, why let them in our community. Cross play should mean Xbox vs playstation, maybe switch.

Mortal Online 2 is probably the closest to UO of all the modern games I've played that try to be.. that said its still a long way off, has questionable management, and is seemingly not doing great since going to a subscription model.
