Don't feel bad. That has happened to us all . I don't know if I could have held and not killed that first nice buck, but to get the one you got. It was worth it.Also, he didn't get that old not knowing what to look for before he stepped out good. And a big doe too. it is great when a plan works.

You like rifle hunting out of a saddle and is the saddle really worth it?
@NortonOutdoors7 күн бұрын
I do. It depends on what you want out of it. For all the gear I carry into film hunts, a saddle works better for me than taking all of that and a climber. If you want comfort, go with a summit viper. If you want to cut weight and be able to climb pretty much any tree in the woods, then a saddle and sticks are the way to go. It's an investment, that's for sure.
@djwhite22208 күн бұрын
How do u like the saddle set up? i just ordered one to try out idk if ima like it or not
@NortonOutdoors8 күн бұрын
I like it. This is my third season hunting out of a saddle. It takes a little bit to get used to it. As much money you have to invest in it, it's hard not to use it. Legs get tired from time to time.

Way to go! You all should look into the Texas hunter feeders. They last a really long time. They cost more but we have had our oldest one for 9 years. Top bait has them assembled for a good price. Do you all ever thermal hunt on your proprty for hogs?
@NortonOutdoors10 күн бұрын
I’ll check it out. No sir. I bought a infrared scope a few years ago. Haven’t shot any hogs with it yet though. I really wish I had a thermal.

Them two dudes was fairly evenly matched wasn’t they!! That’s about as heart thumping a moment you can ever have in the deer woods without actually harvesting one. I e seen those giants up north get after it like that a few times and man I can’t help but be shaking like a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

I know you are not going to allow wild hogs on your property and the deer fight was good...how many acres did you and your wife buy? Nice running creek as well
@NortonOutdoors18 күн бұрын
No, I've shot a few on it since we purchased it. I just didn't that day. I was getting pretty good buck on camera and didn't wanna risk scaring him. Originally, it was 12.5 acres, but we got an additional adjoining 3 acres later.
